Stayed 1 night in an end room in one of the fourplexes. Appealing rustic property set among the trees. Our building/room was fairly close to the road, but noise was not a factor. Room was smaller, but cozy, and had everything one could need, and very clean. We had an issue on arrival with an unusual odor, and the manager... More

Spent a full week in a private cabin. It was clean and safe. Lots of fresh towels and amenities. Restaurant had the best food around! Bed was comfortable. Coffee maker and mini fridge available. Very close to Mt. Rushmore and all activities. Owners accommodated when we had to leave early. Really great place!!!

We love this place! The restaurant has the best food in the area. The owners are so nice and the staff is very accommodating to your likes and favorites. They remember who likes coffee, orange juice, wheat toast etc. You walk in and feel like you are being pampered. Great way to start the day!

Based on reviews and photos we were very disappointed. Properly looked cute but our cabin was very worn and in need of major updating. We were assigned a cabin that was attached to others and on the main road..noisy. Bed and amenities were cheap and uncomfortable. Had we not prepaid for two nights, we would not have stuck out the... Driving through the base of Mt Rushmore, we were dismayed at the ticky tacky clutch of restaurants, souvenir stores, and motels. We were thrilled to find this establishment was a mile out of town, on its own, in a more rustic, lovely setting. Deer came by for breakfast. Restaurant on property was superb, with venison and other game choices on... More

We just loved this place! We stayed in Cabin 56' which was roomy and clean. The atmosphere of the whole place is rustic, but all amenities were available. Dog walking was great. There was highway noise but unnoticeable in the evening and at night. The major criticisms are that the lighting in the bathroom area is poor...just not enough light.... More

Cabin appeal with all necessary amenities. The bathroom was a tad small, but quite adequate for what we needed. There was a nice lighted vanity area outside of the bathroom to use if necessary. Bed was very comfortable and the area is very quiet. The morning was a little chillier than we anticipated, however the wall heating unit made the... More

We stayed four nights in the 6 plex. We loved it here. It is centrally located for everything. The room was large, the beds were comfy, and everything was clean. A lot of the staff don't speak great English but are super friendly. If you need ice simply go to the office for a bag. I will stay here again... More

Loved the Powder Lodge for its unique set up of rooms and outdoor porch. Had cabin 41 which has 2 rooms and an adequate bathroom. Although close to the road the noise was non existent. Sitting on the porch at night staring at the gorgeous star filled South Dakota sky could not be beat! The restaurant is pretty good too.... More
