We arrived at the hotel to be told there was no booking for us even though we had booked nearly a month before and had had a reply from them when asking to book breakfast. Were given room 4 which was very small and hot with no chance of opening windows. Had to move the beds to get to the wardrobe. Nothing like pictures on line. Bathroom was outside the room on a short corridor which was open to the main stairs. This was not good when you had to get up at night to go to the toilet. Toilet seat was loose when you sat on it, toilet paper ran out and no replacement was available and the shower was cold and couldn't be regulated. I looked for a hairdryer but there was none there. The top drawer in the chest of drawers was dirty and even had a disgusting gift for us. 4 false nail. Don't know when it was last checked or cleaned. Would not recommend this to anyone and would not have given it any stars if possible.…
We arrived at the hotel wearing clothing and carrying baggage that was appropriate to the holiday break we were taking and the journey we had to make. We were shocked and taken aback that the receptionist thought it was his place to make any comment on what we were wearing or carrying. We were not given a proper welcome to the hotel; he never wished us "Have a nice stay" let alone gave us WiFi passwords, When we went to the room, we found that there was scaffolding immediately outside the window and that the windows could not be locked. When we queried security he was abrupt and dismissive of our concerns. This made us constantly concerned for the safety of our laptops. Inside the room, some fittings were rickety or broken, and the provision of toiletries and towels was minimal. The wooden bathmat was not hygienic, toilet paper in short supply and though there were plenty of sockets, none were placed where we could put the kettle on a table and plug it in. At breakfast, given the space available, guests could have been made more comfortable through greater social distancing. We did not eat in the restaurant at all in the evening, so cannot comment on the service. On the plus side, The room was cleaned properly - the cleaner was polite and did a good job. The bed was very comfortable. Decor was good though dark, and restaurant staff were accommodating at breakfast. The location is very close to the train station and town centre, which suited us perfectly.…
No problems really, good hotel and good breakfast. Bed was a little small but the room was good value, so not a surprise. Generally a bit dated in the hotel and the restaurant was really fun and modern. Breakfast was full English with cereals and drinks, as expected and no issues.
Visited Glendale hotel for a little holiday away from home. Noticed lots of stains on the carpet so didn't feel sanitary so wore socks the whole time. Would be good to have mattress and pillow protectors. I couldn't use the Lamp on my side of the bed because there are no plug sockets available. Ran out of toilet paper and it took three requests until we finally got some more. No toiletrees like shampoo so had to go get my own from boots. Sink filled up quickly and slow to drain. Shower temp difficult to manage. Was always either too hot or too cold. Not sure what the filty plank of wood is supposed to be for that was besides the toilet. What looks like a fire alarm on the ceiling was covered up by an old dirty sock. Went to the restaurant one night. Asked for a drink menu but was told that was not available. I asked what cocktails were available and the waitor didn't know so I asked for a margarita which he made and was very nice. The next night I asked for another margarita and was told they didn't have the ingredients to make any. My mother asked for a pina colada and the waitor looked very confused. Don't be fooled by the pics of beautiful cocktails on their website, they don't make any. From the time we ordered our mains we waited over 1 hour for the food to arrive. Food was good but not worth the wait and would have gone elsewhere. Lots of loud door slams during the night and morning could be heard throughout the stay. Kettle plug doesn't reach the socket so had to place it on the floor to make any tea or coffee. Not enough milks available to make tea and coffee for 2 people. Tv didn't work and too small to view anything anyway. Wouldnt come here again.…
First takeaway from the Glendale Hotel in Penarth. Thought it would be good to support a local restaurant due to the current lockdown. The food didn’t disappoint us and was as delicious as if we had eaten there. Great idea as a takeaway, felt like we were out for the evening.
