This quaint heritage B&B inn has been beautifully maintained by Joyce for seventeen years, and she has mastered the art of meeting her travelling customers' needs. Many of the super-clean rooms in this former convent reflect the area's past coal mining history in both their names and antique furnishings. Although the rooms do not have TV's, there is a large...

What can I say wow oh wow oh wow - this old monastery looking out over the ocean. Lucky us we were the only ones staying the night. Inside is unbelievable - lots of old furniture and we ate our breakfast off Royal Albert dinnerware. The brekky was absolutely delicious with cereal fruit yogurt juice and Joyce cooked us some...

We are loving our three-day stay here. It is so cozy. It sits right on the North Atlantic so the views are lovely. Our hostess, Joyce, is so accommodating and gracious. Breakfast is ample and tasty. A fireplace in the room is a wonderful bonus and it takes off the chill. Our room is beautifully appointed and we love sitting...

Most of my friends stayed in contemporary hotels in Sydney but coming from Ontario, I wanted to stay somewhere with an east coast feel. It was the best decision I made on this trip! I stayed in the Aberdeen #2 with a beautiful view of the ocean and slept very well. The homemade breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Joyce was...

We spent three great nights at this gem of a bed and breakfast. The manager Joyce took very good care of us. We had wonderful breakfasts using real China. This B&B was a convent at one time, the rooms are so tastefully done. We stayed in the Donkin room, the rooms are named after the mines that were in the...

It wasn't easy to find Vespers, but we saved the map of Glace Bay that Joyce gave us for future reference. We were in the Donkin Room which had a private bath outside of the room. It was on the third floor and a bit warm, but cooled down by the time we went to bed. The view from the...

This is a very large b&b converted from a convent, almost at the edge of the ocean, in a depressed (ex-mining) town. The conversion is brilliant, the rooms spacious and interestingly decorated. Our large 2d-floor bedroom let us on to a deck that afforded fabulous views. The breakfast was good. The only thing I didn't like was the shower, which...

In this very remote corner of the world, this is a romantic and comfortable fantasy spot to stay. The house is an old convent right on the edge of a cliff with the most magnificent view of the ocean. It has been lovingly and beautifully restored. Each room is named for a now-closed coal mine in the area, and you...

I gave it four stars but note that I rarely give a full five stars. A wonder place to stay. All of the other comments by others about rooms, views, and breakfast are absolutely true. The host, Joyce, is great. We stayed in the Gardener Mine room on the third floor. Great view but no veranda. The shower in our...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at vespers and Glacé Bay. Joyce was a welcoming and generous host. The house is wonderful, full of history and beautifully restored. Fantastic coffee and breakfast. Excellent value.
