We've stayed at the Nipton "Hotel" (really a rooming house with a common area and shared washroom/shower rooms) on 5 separate occasions. First of all, you should be a train buff. The Union Pacific will come through at least 4 or 5 times during your one night stay. If you can't appreciate the romance of the rails passing right by...

Thank you so much for giving Bill a shout out. We miss him. We also want to thank you for your continued patronage. Hotel Nipton (it's original name) has been in Nipton since 1904 and yes, as you stated, it isn't for everyone. People that appreciate the remoteness and the beauty of the Mojave - the quietness and solitude -...

Stayed with friends at this extraordinary little hotel just North of Mojave National Nature Preserve. This historic landmark is a wonderful destination for a relaxing retreat where you can enjoy the wide open spaces and views. Enjoyed the warm and inviting atmosphere at the restaurant making you want to linger after a satisfying meal. You can sit on the porch...

A bonfire, nighttime clouds clearing to reveal pockets of myriad bright stars unencumbered by Vegas lights. Clear, crisp air and muted desert contrasts broken by periodic vibratory charging and howling of diesel freights. A cozy small sharing hotel like out of the Twilight Zone western past, quiet now with the cattlemen, stages and celebrities gone. Wonderful couple running the cafe,...

I really struggled with how many stars to give this hotel....two, three or four....depends so much on what aspect you are talking about. On paper it doesn't sound too inviting: nothing bigger than a full bed (we had two twins), shared bathrooms (we were alone in the building so no problem), busy train tracks just 30 yards from the hotel,...

Stayed 2 nights at the Nipton Hotel in Nipton, CA! 8 ish miles east of the 15 frwy. ( off at Nipton exit ) Around 100 years old, the quaint old town is owned by a one family... FUN FACT : it's the only town in America that is 100% self powered! Now if you're a light sleeper this place...

I was travelling from I-15 to Searchlight NV and found this extraordinary little hotel. Out in the middle of nowhere, it is truly a step back into time when things were simpler. It is a funny thing that so many people complain about no phone, no TV, etc...This is the exact reason I found this place so inviting. It was...

I am very grateful to the hotel staff for being kind enough to ship to me a very important item that I left behind. I would've had to have driven back 200 miles to get it, and they saved me a lot of trouble by being so helpful.

The Hotel Nipton is a historic landmark just north of the Mojave National Nature Preserve. Movie stars, government officials, and all sorts of other interesting people have been staying there since the 1930's. The hotel has approximately 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large living room/communal area. The rooms are very small but clean. The bathrooms were also clean, but...

We we're looking for a good, alternative place to stay and booked two nights in one of Nipton's eco-lodges. The owners were welcoming, the view from the lodge was gorgeous, and Nipton is simply ideally located for exploration of the Mojave Desert. The lodge has basic features including an electric heater, beds, chairs & table, and a wood-fired stove for...

The Nipton Hotel was the perfect relaxing retreat during our cross country road trip in October 2011. Nipton is a charming little old mining town located on the edge of the Mojave Desert Preserve. The hotel itself is a well preserved piece of the Old West. The bedroom we stayed in was simply decorated with nice antiques, and the hotel...
