1) Adults only and respectful use of cell phones
2) Staff gets better each year
3) Nice one bedroom with kitchenette (our room had some new stylish decor touches)
4) Beautiful views and lush grounds
5) Food and drinks were great (“The Restaurant” food and level of service has really stepped up their game)
6) Housekeeping is always on top of things
We’ve stayed at the Four Seasons many times but a dinner at Spago’s, while nice, reminded us that a relaxing (no screaming kids) hotel is now best for us.
Perfect for couples who enjoy a great place to be an adult (or not).
Enjoy!
We ate at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea one night and so enjoyed the privacy of a garden table. Food was good, service excellent. We also ate at the Birdcage and around the pool, both were very good. We had fun at the pool bar with Chelsea and James and the others.
While not on the beach, they will immediately drive you to the beach where gentlemen are immediately available to set up lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels and snorkel equipment. When you are ready to leave, simply call the hotel and by the time you make it from the beach to parking lot, your driver will be there.
Rooms reportedly are all the same size and similar in finishes. We opted for an ocean view room and were very pleased with its location (close to main building) feeling of seclusion and quietness. because of changes to room previously mentioned, we had to relocate on our last night to a garden view suite. This was seamless as we simply packed our bags and went on our way for the day, upon return we grabbed a new key from the front desk and walked to our new room. Inside the room was great and we still had a view of the ocean however, this particular room, 122, did not feel as secluded and you could hear the traffic from the nearby road, although nothing to complain about.
At 72 rooms, this is a very quiet hotel, incredibly enjoyable and nothing like the crowd at the Four Seasons
The rest of you adult only travelers this place is perfect. Rooms are perfectly designed, even the kitchenette is clever for how it’s done. Way more spacious than hotel rooms, fantastic balconies, I had partial ocean view and it was everything I needed. The restaurant is fantastic too. We enjoyed the free shuttle just about every day to other locales in Wailea, don’t think I ever had to wait more than five minutes.
Nothing negative to say. A#1 from the staff to the landscaping to the restaurant and on…
We originally had planned to stay at the Grand Wailea next door and while a beautiful hotel, the Hotel Wailea is adults only (major plus) and also small and boutique (major plus also). We had the pool to ourselves sometimes in the early morning/evening (since it was open 24 hours) and even during the day it was never uncomfortably crowded and easy to get a nice place. Being located off the beach was fine for us and the staff always accommodating taking us to and from the beach. The hotel grounds and gardens are breathtaking also!
The hotel service for a spot on the beach with towels, umbrella and ice water on the beach was wonderful and felt special. Our room view was absolutely beyond compare and completely worth paying for a partial ocean view. The kitchen with some provided snacks and drinks was a great perk and we loved the bathroom with huge shower and tub.
The location of Wailea was also really great for us, and we appreciated the car service to and from restaurants in the area. We also loved the canoe ride and turtle spotting that we did with Kevin and the Hawaiian Outrigger company. We highly recommend that! I also treated myself to my first massage post-covid, and it was really amazing to enjoy that in my room after a busy day of hiking and beach time.
The staff was incredible, and I am already missing the Aloha vibe of the resort and Maui itself. We hope to make it back again soon! Thank you so much for a wonderful memorable vacation!!!
P.S. Also loved the 2 breakfasts we had at the restaurant with the amazing views!
We stayed in the same spacious room that we have stayed in for our two previous visits. The room is still in good shape and it feels like you are staying in a furnished apartment instead of a hotel room.
A small issue with the fridge when we were getting unpacked but Leah got everything straightened out for us. This was the only problem we encountered during our 8 day stay.
The hotel was very accommodating considering the Covid situation and the staffing issues because of it. The shuttle drivers were terriffic - we couldn't get a rental car due to the fleet shortages but they were always available to get us to our destinations in Wailea and back.
A couple of things were annoying. Getting a cup of coffee in the early AM was a bit of a struggle. It seems that there was always one issue or another with the lobby coffee service. Nothing major but the hotel needs to be sure that someone is the person responsible for taking care of this service and making sure that the machine is filled with water and that all the necessary condiments are available for guests.
The main reason I only gave an overall 4 rating instead of a 5 is that the hotel wasn't as tranquil as it has been on our previous visits. This was due to a corporate meeting going on. The participants weren't rowdy but they were very loud when they congrigated in groups. When we go back to Hotel Wailea again we will be sure to ask if there are any large groups scheduled to be there during our stay.
Be sure to add Hotel Wailea to your bucket list if you have never been. You won't be dissappointed.
The housekeeping would forgot a few things everyday. I suggest a “checklist” for them so we don’t have to call and remind them for clean coffee cups, etc.
The hotel dining is beautiful and very good. We loved the Lomi Lomi for breakfast. The service was excellent as well.
We went to Chang’s beach and the hotels beach. Chang’s was much less crowded and they gave us some folding chairs and towels. I loved it. The hotel beach is nice too, but really crowded.
We only spent one morning at the pool. I did not know that you can reserve the cabanas. But, we decided to go to the beach instead, since we have pools at home.
Overall, a great stay. I highly recommend the hotel.
This was definitely a treat which we hope to be able to enjoy again in the future.
The hotel grounds are gorgeous, truly like Garden of Eden pretty. Flowering trees, bushes and green green grass everywhere. We had an oceanfront room, and the view was wonderful to see the beach below at sunsets.
The food was awesome. A-awesome!! Didn’t matter where we at - pool bar, lobby lounge, The Restaurant, room service - it was all amazing. Expensive, but really excellent. Highly recommend an evening at the Restaurant.
The rooms are huge. Didn’t realize it would be a proper suite which was excellent since I was able to lounge on the couch in the early mornings while my husband was sleeping and not disturb him. The lanai was large and comfortable. There was even a fridge drawer which was good because we bought a case of wines from our cellar for the trip so we had chilled whites and roses all week!! Little Nespresso machine was excellent, housekeeping even left us extra creams when they realized we like more in our coffee! Little details like that make a big difference.
Pool scene was done of our favorite parts. Everyone was friendly, chatty, and made it fun. Not sloppy drinkers, just happy adults enjoying paradise! And, because there’s no kids, it was a calm and peaceful pool scene. No screaming, no swim noodles! Not hating on people with kids, just saying the lack of them here made it perfect for us to just decompress and truly relax. Their pool service was good, sometimes just be prepared for aloha time which is a little slower than what we’d find on the mainland.
The beach service was terrific and super convenient. We ordered a picnic for the day which was lovely. The beach itself is beautiful, right by the Four Seasons. Picnic is a bit expensive for what it was, so they have some work to do on that end. Should send a noodle salad, not that tasteless quinoa. The chips were excellent.
All in all, we will come back in a instant to this special paradise. Aloha and mahalo!!
