We travel a lot and we go to a lot of special hotels but this one we felt had to be one of the best stays of our lives. We honestly never thought any hotel or team could top some of the experiences we have had but this place took our travel experience to another level. When we arrived we were fussed over by the bell boys. There was no push for tips which obviously we do ensure we give but it was so classy and slick how they deal with you. Thanks to Kikea & Jordan for sorting us out. Just a perfect start. We then were greeted by Aric at the front desk. He, for me, brought so much personality to the hotel. His smile and laugh is infectious and you cannot help but love him. He brought it from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The first night we had dinner at the hotel and it was such a perfect way to start our stay. Ian, Jeremiah and Stevie Ray made the whole experience for us just so unique. The knowledge of the phenomenal wines this hotel can boast about we thoroughly enjoyed. We went for Californian wines because we have so many good wines living in Europe that are local to us we wanted to try what the US has to offer and they smashed it with what they have stocked. Stevie Ray we wanted to say thank you to for our last night and we were so glad to return to the restaurant. He did something that we just felt we would never get to experience again and it was like a perfect bucket list moment that I will remember as long as I live. Also Jeremiah was away that evening but he even left a nod to us. It was just moments full of thought and just felt like it came from the heart. Conor, LJ, Nissa & Kainoa we were so grateful to meet. They were so brilliant too and just another group of amazing team members that make this hotel great. Breakfast in this hotel is like having Michelin star quality food as soon as you wake up. Shout out for the garlic rice. I'm flying back for that alone. Jessica was great at getting us settled in a table we'd enjoy. Danny looked after us every morning and he was just another phenomenal team member. I actually felt sad when we had our last breakfast. Really says something when you know you are going to really miss an experience so much. We loved the cocktail class they do. Got so lucky to get a spot at the bar and understandably it's popular because James will have you laughing all the way. I wish I spent more time at the bar with him as yet another great personality to add to the many you'll find in this hotel. We can keep going on forever about the team at this hotel but I need to add that the rooms here are just stunning. They were so perfect for relaxing and recuperating. It was exactly what we needed from this break. The pool area was amazing. The photos do not do it justice but you'll find that out for yourself. Special shout to Dana, Derrin, Chef Ryan, Shaiyan and Tyler also. Wanted to mention them also as they all added to our holiday. I honestly cannot stop gushing about this trip and the people we met as well as how stunning the complex is. We feel like this is a team that makes it a leading hotel and staying here is worth every penny without fail. You can have a beautiful complex and amazing food but if the personalities are not there it just does not work and the team here added the x factor. Need to go back as have so much left to enjoy and explore.

We just came back from our third stay which was after the holiday rush and premium prices and all the reasons we enjoy the property seem to get a little better each time.

1) Adults only and respectful use of cell phones

2) Staff gets better each year

3) Nice one bedroom with kitchenette (our room had some new stylish decor touches)

4) Beautiful views and lush grounds

5) Food and drinks were great (“The Restaurant” food and level of service has really stepped up their game)

6) Housekeeping is always on top of things

We’ve stayed at the Four Seasons many times but a dinner at Spago’s, while nice, reminded us that a relaxing (no screaming kids) hotel is now best for us.

Perfect for couples who enjoy a great place to be an adult (or not).

Enjoy!

Just returned from four nights at this hotel and really have nothing bad to say whatsoever. Because of airline changes, we had to alter our reservation several times and staff was very accommodating and no change in pricing. As a result of these changes we had a 10:30 pm Maui departure. While the hotel could not accommodate a late check out, they did hold our bags and we enjoyed the beach and pool all afternoon with use of a complimentary guest suite to shower and dress in at the end of the day.

We ate at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea one night and so enjoyed the privacy of a garden table. Food was good, service excellent. We also ate at the Birdcage and around the pool, both were very good. We had fun at the pool bar with Chelsea and James and the others.

While not on the beach, they will immediately drive you to the beach where gentlemen are immediately available to set up lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels and snorkel equipment. When you are ready to leave, simply call the hotel and by the time you make it from the beach to parking lot, your driver will be there.

Rooms reportedly are all the same size and similar in finishes. We opted for an ocean view room and were very pleased with its location (close to main building) feeling of seclusion and quietness. because of changes to room previously mentioned, we had to relocate on our last night to a garden view suite. This was seamless as we simply packed our bags and went on our way for the day, upon return we grabbed a new key from the front desk and walked to our new room. Inside the room was great and we still had a view of the ocean however, this particular room, 122, did not feel as secluded and you could hear the traffic from the nearby road, although nothing to complain about.

At 72 rooms, this is a very quiet hotel, incredibly enjoyable and nothing like the crowd at the Four Seasons

If you enjoy mega giant resorts where people start reserving chairs at 8am, are crowded out by convention goers and people yammering away on their cell phones then don’t stay here— there are plenty of better options. This resort is quiet and intimate, a rarity for Hawaii and Maui as far as I know.

The rest of you adult only travelers this place is perfect. Rooms are perfectly designed, even the kitchenette is clever for how it’s done. Way more spacious than hotel rooms, fantastic balconies, I had partial ocean view and it was everything I needed. The restaurant is fantastic too. We enjoyed the free shuttle just about every day to other locales in Wailea, don’t think I ever had to wait more than five minutes.

Nothing negative to say. A#1 from the staff to the landscaping to the restaurant and on…

My husband and I selected the Hotel Wailea after almost 2 years of research and planning for a belated 10 year anniversary trip. And it went even beyond our expectations.

We originally had planned to stay at the Grand Wailea next door and while a beautiful hotel, the Hotel Wailea is adults only (major plus) and also small and boutique (major plus also). We had the pool to ourselves sometimes in the early morning/evening (since it was open 24 hours) and even during the day it was never uncomfortably crowded and easy to get a nice place. Being located off the beach was fine for us and the staff always accommodating taking us to and from the beach. The hotel grounds and gardens are breathtaking also!

The hotel service for a spot on the beach with towels, umbrella and ice water on the beach was wonderful and felt special. Our room view was absolutely beyond compare and completely worth paying for a partial ocean view. The kitchen with some provided snacks and drinks was a great perk and we loved the bathroom with huge shower and tub.

The location of Wailea was also really great for us, and we appreciated the car service to and from restaurants in the area. We also loved the canoe ride and turtle spotting that we did with Kevin and the Hawaiian Outrigger company. We highly recommend that! I also treated myself to my first massage post-covid, and it was really amazing to enjoy that in my room after a busy day of hiking and beach time.

The staff was incredible, and I am already missing the Aloha vibe of the resort and Maui itself. We hope to make it back again soon! Thank you so much for a wonderful memorable vacation!!!

P.S. Also loved the 2 breakfasts we had at the restaurant with the amazing views!

This was our third time back to the property. It is still a wonderful place with only 72 rooms and a great staff.

We stayed in the same spacious room that we have stayed in for our two previous visits. The room is still in good shape and it feels like you are staying in a furnished apartment instead of a hotel room.

A small issue with the fridge when we were getting unpacked but Leah got everything straightened out for us. This was the only problem we encountered during our 8 day stay.

The hotel was very accommodating considering the Covid situation and the staffing issues because of it. The shuttle drivers were terriffic - we couldn't get a rental car due to the fleet shortages but they were always available to get us to our destinations in Wailea and back.

A couple of things were annoying. Getting a cup of coffee in the early AM was a bit of a struggle. It seems that there was always one issue or another with the lobby coffee service. Nothing major but the hotel needs to be sure that someone is the person responsible for taking care of this service and making sure that the machine is filled with water and that all the necessary condiments are available for guests.

The main reason I only gave an overall 4 rating instead of a 5 is that the hotel wasn't as tranquil as it has been on our previous visits. This was due to a corporate meeting going on. The participants weren't rowdy but they were very loud when they congrigated in groups. When we go back to Hotel Wailea again we will be sure to ask if there are any large groups scheduled to be there during our stay.

Be sure to add Hotel Wailea to your bucket list if you have never been. You won't be dissappointed.

The hotel is lovely, and since our children are not with us, having an all adult hotel was fantastic. The room is very large, although I think it is a little “cold”. Stone floors and white walls, it could use a little “warmth.”. However, it was very large and comfortable. We were in building 14, on the bottom floor. Highly suggest getting the top floor, since we could here every step from upstairs. The service was excellent and everyone knew us by name. We debated on getting a car, but we are very glad we did. The hotel was extremely busy due to holidays, so the shuttle could have a wait. If you stay in the area for dinners, it might be okay to skip the car rental, but we did several activities on the island and the car was very much needed.

The housekeeping would forgot a few things everyday. I suggest a “checklist” for them so we don’t have to call and remind them for clean coffee cups, etc.

The hotel dining is beautiful and very good. We loved the Lomi Lomi for breakfast. The service was excellent as well.

We went to Chang’s beach and the hotels beach. Chang’s was much less crowded and they gave us some folding chairs and towels. I loved it. The hotel beach is nice too, but really crowded.
We only spent one morning at the pool. I did not know that you can reserve the cabanas. But, we decided to go to the beach instead, since we have pools at home.

Overall, a great stay. I highly recommend the hotel.

We got to spend one night at Hotel Wailea for my wife’s birthday and it was a fantastic experience. Hotel Wailea is an adult-only resort so it makes a huge difference in the atmosphere and ambience of the resort. Everything is more quiet, relaxed and you can completely decompress. Being up high on the hill, the ocean views are breathtaking and at night you get to enjoy a star-show. The whole team really makes you feel right at home, the friendly bellman, the attentive concierge, the knowledgeable bar/restaurant staff and all of the other staff members who keep the rooms and grounds spotless and manicured. We didn’t have to leave the property as we enjoyed the large shallow pool, had a tasty dinner at the Restaurant and ordered in breakfast (ricotta pancakes are the bomb). But if you want to explore, you can get a ride in one of their Tesla Model X to go to other restaurants/shops in the area or get access to a reserved beach.
This was definitely a treat which we hope to be able to enjoy again in the future.

My husband and I came to Hotel Wailea for his birthday. I didn’t want a second birthday of his to go by closed down due to covid. From the moment we arrived, it was like Paradise Found in Maui. The service was impeccable... genuine, friendly, and cheerful. A style of service we’ve found that’s unique to Relais & Chateaux.

The hotel grounds are gorgeous, truly like Garden of Eden pretty. Flowering trees, bushes and green green grass everywhere. We had an oceanfront room, and the view was wonderful to see the beach below at sunsets.

The food was awesome. A-awesome!! Didn’t matter where we at - pool bar, lobby lounge, The Restaurant, room service - it was all amazing. Expensive, but really excellent. Highly recommend an evening at the Restaurant.

The rooms are huge. Didn’t realize it would be a proper suite which was excellent since I was able to lounge on the couch in the early mornings while my husband was sleeping and not disturb him. The lanai was large and comfortable. There was even a fridge drawer which was good because we bought a case of wines from our cellar for the trip so we had chilled whites and roses all week!! Little Nespresso machine was excellent, housekeeping even left us extra creams when they realized we like more in our coffee! Little details like that make a big difference.

Pool scene was done of our favorite parts. Everyone was friendly, chatty, and made it fun. Not sloppy drinkers, just happy adults enjoying paradise! And, because there’s no kids, it was a calm and peaceful pool scene. No screaming, no swim noodles! Not hating on people with kids, just saying the lack of them here made it perfect for us to just decompress and truly relax. Their pool service was good, sometimes just be prepared for aloha time which is a little slower than what we’d find on the mainland.

The beach service was terrific and super convenient. We ordered a picnic for the day which was lovely. The beach itself is beautiful, right by the Four Seasons. Picnic is a bit expensive for what it was, so they have some work to do on that end. Should send a noodle salad, not that tasteless quinoa. The chips were excellent.

All in all, we will come back in a instant to this special paradise. Aloha and mahalo!!

By far the best, most unique hotel we have ever stayed. We stayed in room 144, it was above exceptional. This entire property is first class in every aspect. It was private, beautiful, and they tended to our every need. The view of multiple islands from our balcony during sunset is not comparable to anything else we have ever experienced. Our room was always cared for, and they adjusted to our needs without asking (more coffee and more water left in the room every day). If these details aren’t important to you, it’s because you’ve never had them tended to like this. The transportation to the beach was our biggest concern, but it was quicker than walking to the beach from anywhere else. It was great. The beach was beautiful, shared with the Four Seasons. The Wailea area is beautiful. The pool was fantastic, and we ate dinner at the restaurant on property for our anniversary. Had massages in our room, and breakfast delivered every morning. This place is highly rated for great reasons. Our expectations were high and they were exceeded. We didn’t do as much as we wanted in Maui because we simply did not leave the resort some days. If you are trying to wow your significant other, this would be your opportunity. We had an excellent time. Thank you for a great anniversary trip.
