#1 of 2 hotels in La Foa
Travellers' Choice

When shown to our bungalow our host commented that the bungalow was airing out as it was a bit musty smelling. We stayed for two nights and the smell never left. The room smelled strongly of mould. Very disappointing to pay for accommodation with this strong unpleasant smell. I can't recommend this place and won't be back.

We spent 2 days on our roadtrip to Grande Terre. It has been a great experience for the family. Relaxing pool and its lounge, cosy ambience, wonderful breakfast. The restaurant offers a fine and tasty food, quite rare in this area, an absolute must do. The staff was very friendly and supportive, they gave good advice to continue our trip, even called the accommodation for us 👍 we will come back and recommend the place.

We stayed one night & wish we had stayed a week. The bungalows are gorgeous in a lovely tropical garden setting, the pool and bar are wonderfully styled, they even have a hairdresser by the pool. The restaurant is so pretty at night with candlelit tables in the garden setting, food delicious and service friendly. Oh and in a rare find for NC, the hosts speak English, which is a small bonus for Aussies. The only improvement we could suggest would be a small fridge in the room to keep water bottles cool. Many thanks and good luck to the new owners, we hope to come back again.

Avoid this place until they put some substantial effort into raising the standard. It’s nothing like the pictures on their website. The rooms are too old and so musty and mouldy. Felt sick sleeping there, but had no other choice for one night. We had two booked but left the next morning. If they put the same effort into the accommodation upkeep as they put into the dining area it would be a lot better. Some good old fashioned hard work is needed there. Perhaps we have high standards in NZ, but we were just so disappointed that this place looked nothing like the photos. The pool was grubby and had a vacuum cleaner left sitting in it. The spa costs a fortune and we don’t even think it was operating. No fridge in room to keep cold water. Actually, no water supplied at all. Bugs and cobwebs everywhere. Door didn’t work very well. Host was nice enough but we didn’t feel comfortable telling her that we weren’t happy. They seemed like they might be a bit reactive and we didn’t want the stress of confrontation. The furniture is really old and smelly. It just really needs to be renovated. I’d say the bathrooms were done a few years ago, but they weren’t done well and create a lot of steam with poor ventilation - this is causing mauld. We managed to find availability at Poe beach, which was nice.

Whilst on holiday in New Caledonia I discovered a hidden paradise! Naina Park Hotel was the best place of its kind I had been to in a long time! The hospitality was excellent and the food was to die for! The chocolate mousse in particular was out of this world as well as the tarte aux mirtilles and the coconut sorbet!! It's the perfect place to relax by the pool with a cocktail or a glass of Champagne! Thank you Nadine Allegre and Jean-Jacques Allegre for looking after me so well. I would recommend this to anyone.

Coming from Noumea this hotel is difficult to find as there is no roadside signage.....were surprised on arrival to find no cars parked in front as we had gone there for lunch about 18 months back and they were busy....we asked for a sandwich for lunch to be told the restaurant was closed...thinking we were too late for lunch we were then told the restaurant would not be opening.....this was after being told when we phoned that it would only be closed on Sunday nights.....we had also been sent a e mail stating the price for a buffet breakfast....shown to a bungalow closely followed by one of several large dogs on the property.....there was one towel , one glass and a broken shower whereby the shower would be held in one hand whilst washing with the other...there was no refrigerator but this was half expected as some web sites said they had one while others said no....we had to push one dog out of the room twice...we decided to give it a try for one night.....bought our luggage in....as I was carrying a carton and trying to walk down some steps whilst this dog had his head in front of my leg I stumbled....took off at great speed trying to regain my balance....put my arm out , crashed into a coconut tree and rolled down a bank.....made a mess of my arm......scary to think what my head would have looked liked if it had hit the tree....at this point we said we had had enough and were leaving....they were concerned for my well being ...sat me on a chair and supplied an ice pack for my arm We left and went to a hotel further down the road.....Les Paillottes de la Ouenghi...very nice bungalows....friendly staff...good size swimming pool...two tennis courts....18 hole golf course... canoes to paddle on the river....food to die for and best of all very quiet and peaceful
