We took this awesome campsite near the entrance of the ninety mile beach and we loved it. Gabi is a super friendly, funny german, who spend her last 17 years in NZ. You will have a clean kitchen, nice people, dogs, cows and horses around you, clean facilities and an amazing look over the dunes into the far sea. The...

10k trek on unsealed roads to get to this 90 mile beach spot which basically has 2 camping sites in them - both good. This has more facilities ( fridge freezer) so I came here. Looks about shabby from outside but everything is well maintained and painted plus works well - kitchen, toilets, showers. Spot overlooks beach and easy to...

Stayed here for two nights in our tent. The camping facilities were great - flushing toilet and hot shower! There was also a communal indoor cooking area with pots and pans available which was very helpful, especially as it rained one of the nights. Overall, it was a great spot to camp. The only drawback was there was very little...

A great place to stay with a group of friends for a weekend of walking in the far north. Very comfortable beds, good big and well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and good facilities. Worked really well for the 14 of us. Hope very much to see more of our hostess in the future.

We stopped here for my boyfriend's birthday 3 days into the Te Araroa Trail. We were greeted by the lovely Ngaru and dogs Wally and Tina. The room was gorgeous, one of the best we had in New Zealand, and we enjoyed fish and chips and fantastic conversation with Ngaru before drinking a bottle of white wine (which was, unprompted,...

I was following Te Araroa trail and this was a suggested camping site for it. The lodge itself is well manicured. Host Gabi and her helper Florian were very nice and accomodating people. For some reason I was refused renting a room and only offered a camping spot. I used a kitchen and shower behind it, nothing special. Another thing...

We camped for one night here and really loved it. You're only about 20 minutes from town but it feels very peaceful and far-flung here. Gabi was so friendly and we really enjoyed speaking with her. The rate ($15 per person for a campsite) was so reasonable considering these bathrooms were way nicer than we've come to expect. We didn't...

We stayed in the campground area of Hukatere Lodge and we couldn't have been happier. The campground area was nestled in the dunes and was a really nice, quick walk to beach, which was surreal. The shower here was probably one of the nicest showers I've ever seen in a campground. Gabi, the campground host was fantastic as well; warm...
