Lovely old hotel with some wonderful attributes however really needs to be renovated especially the bathrooms in the room. We had some lovely evenings here spent by the fire however dinner was a bit of a let down - quite expensive and a little bit tasteless. Service was good in the main lobby and mostly fine in the restaurant. A...

We had a lovely high tea for 4 today. Stunning old building. My daughter especially thought it was fancy with the chandeliers and the towels in the bathroom that made it fancier even more. The high tea is lovely and a bargin at $25 per head

We stayed one night after walking the Tongariro Crossing mid April. We had a heritage room on the first floor which was excellent. Couldn't fault it. The price was $165 which we thought was very reasonable. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. We relaxed before dinner in the main lounge bar with the huge log fire roaring...

A very special place to visit off peak. A few hickup with our booking- hey anyone can make a mistake but it takes a very special person to fix one! The only thing that they could do to improve our next stay is to offer free wifi. There is no reason to charge for this service. We have stayed here...

Hotel from 1929 with a nice Architecture and beautiful Salons on the ground floor. Unfortunatly my room could not keep up with this. Very small, not soundproof at all (towards neighbour rooms and esp. towards the corridor). Doors closing with a noisy pop. Plus some more sounds from the outside Hotel AC, kitchen etc. Not much sleep to find, since...

Stayed here for one night after doing the Tongariro crossing. I had booked the Maclaren suite (NZ$480 for one night). We arrived slightly early ahead of checking time (which is 3pm). The suite wasn't ready so I assumed it must have been occupied the night before. It was ready in about 20 mins after arriving. Its a nice suite but...

We held our 30th Wedding anniversary celebrations at the Chateau. What a special and memorable weekend it was for us and our 40 guests. We were treated like V.I.P's all weekend and made to feel special. It was a treat! The accommodation was excellent, the food superb, and the surroundings to romantically magical as it snowed on the Saturday, and...

A friend and I stayed 2 nights at the Chateau Tongariro and were very happy with our choice. When we arrived our reservation couldn't be found and after some research it was due to my stupidity. I had booked a room for 2017 instead of 2016. Luckily the manager was able to accommodate us. Thank you!!! When we originally booked...

We stayed for 2 nights and as many people are saying it was like stepping back into faded 1920's grandeur. It reminded us of a large UK seaside hotel - even provided an excellent full afternoon tea. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant - a huge grand rather plain and bare room but the food could not be...

This hotel, set in the centre of the skiing area, is just as good for a summer visit, with walks to suit all. A ski lift near by. The rooms were of a high standard and comfort was not lacking the main restaurant served excellent food, the main draw back being the slow service as this hotel also caters for...
