We stayed at Murchison Lodge for a one-night stopover on the way south, and it was just the job: welcoming, warm, comfortable and quiet. The very spacious shared guests' lounge made for a very comfortable relaxing after a long drive, with good wifi, and the very inexpensive honesty bar/fridge was well stocked with good wines and beers - that was...

As with other reviewers stopping here was not part of the plan but an earthquake decided otherwise! However this was a very pleasant surprise. The lodge was spacious, beautifully maintained and Rosemary and Steven could not have been more welcoming and obliging. . They even shared a glass of wine and cheeseboard with us and other guests to celebrate Rosemary's...

No better welcome to an immaculate, comfortable and spacious lodge. Large open friendly lounge where residents can get together. Our room was on the ground floor and even had its own entrance, which was ideal for unloading our gear. We had two nights here and after a concise introduction by Stephen we were left to our own devices. We met...

Amazing little lodge! Stephen and Rosemary were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful and homecooked in front of us. We had a lovely stay and would certainly return on our next trip through Murchison!

The Lodge is spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast is excellent with yummy home made marmalade, and the big log burner makes the Lodge cosy and warm. However we sensed that the hosts had mixed feelings about being "in service": on arrival at 7pm we were greeted by Rosemary and Stephen who were clearly the worse for drink and who...

Thank you Lorna for your review. We feel very sad that you did not enjoy staying at Murchison Lodge. It is interesting to note that quite a number of our lovely guests have been disappointed with their change of plans due to the earthquake at Kaikoura. No doubt you and Roger felt this way. Our guests mostly arrive at 4pm...

We stayed here for one night on route to Arthurs Pass. It was a late change in our itinerary after the awful Kaikoura earthquake. We had a warm welcome from the owners. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and contained all we were likely to need. The lodge is set in a pretty garden, where we could sit out...

We visited Murchison Lodge for just one night with our family of four. It was a delightful place to stop on our journey from Picton to Greymouth. The rooms were spacious and clean and our host Stephen provided great advice for dinner. A delightful cooked breakfast was served at a communal table which made for good conversation with the other...

I stayed one night here while doing a trek on Mburo lake park. The hotel was suitable, but I would not want to stayed multiple nights here for the reasons below. Cons :The room and bathroom are quite small and difficult to manage with 2 people inside at the same time. The food was excellent, but they were very cheap...

Hello Sniggierburger Its great to review places that you have stayed at. However, your review for Murchison Lodge NZ relates to a Lodge somewhere else - on Safari somewhere? It would be good if you could rewrite the review for the correct Lodge. Rosemary

A lovely welcome from Steve when we arrived quite late for our stay. Showed us around and sorted out cutlery etc for the pizza we picked up en route. Lounge was large and spacious with comfortable seating that meant it was nice to sit and chat with other guests. Our room was huge, clean and very comfortable. Everything was spotless....
