My family and I booked a night to stay in the Cottage unit for our stopover in Franz Josef, and we're all delightfully pleased with the experience. The owners, Julie and Jonathan, are very friendly and passionate about what they do. They are also avid nature-lovers, and are very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna that surrounded the vicinity. We... More

Ribbonwood is a real find. Warm, welcoming hosts and beautiful accommodation. The breakfasts were fabulous (try Julie's fruit pancakes), as were the afternoon tea fruit/nut loaves. It was lovely to be a couple of minutes' drive out of Franz Josef as it got quite busy and noisy there. Julie and Jonathon are so friendly and accommodating - we felt we... More

Stayed two nights at Ribbonwood and were more than pleased with every aspect of the B&B. Located in a quiet location with beautiful views from our room; but minutes away from Franz Josef and all the amenities. A very comfortable, friendly place to stay; our hosts were very knowledgable and helpful and with breakfasts to set us up for a great... More

Stayed 2 nights in cottage. Spacious room with king bed and extra twin. Also patio table and chairs in kitchenette. Large bathroom totally handicap accessible with heated floor. Wonderful healthy afternoon snack each day. Breakfast was cooked with option of fruit crepes or English breakfast along with cereals, toast and homemade jams. Offered excellent suggestions on activities and restaurants. It... More

Two days after landing at Christchurch we took the Alpine scenic train to Greymouth then drove to Franz Joseph where we stayed the night at the Ribbonwood Retreat. What a fabulous start to our NZ adventure. Julie and Jo made us so welcome, tea and homemade cake on the decking, the whole upper floor of their house for our exclusive... More

After a long drive we were delighted to see the welcome to us on the chalkboard and that attention to detail, sums up a happy stay at Ribbonwood. Jo and Julie took the most care to ensure our visit was relaxing and successful. Julie had booked a heli hike for us so that was one less thing to consider and... More

We stayed two nights at the retreat in the detached house. The lodging was quite comfortable with one queen bed and one twin for our son. There was a spacious bathroom with a mini kitchen is included. A relaxing covered patio gave way to a beautiful view of the glacier. The owners were the nicest people with custom orders for... More

This B&B was one of our favorite places to stay in NZ. Julie and Jonathan could not have been more gracious or welcoming, and great fun as well! We had one whole area of their lovely home, including a "private" patio off our room. Their advice regarding restaurants, activities and places to visit were spot on. It would be hard... More

We had a very lovely stay at Ribbonwood. The owners, Julie and Jonathan, were delightful, friendly and full of knowledge about the area, as well as the flora and fauna of New Zealand. The rooms are well appointed, very comfortable and spotless. When we arrived we were greeted by Julie with a nice cup of tea and some Christmas cake.... More

Wonderful B&B just minutes outside of town. Julie and Jonathan are great hosts. Very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious with a lot of fruits from the garden. We stayed at the cottage which has a great design and a lot of space. The place is peaceful and very comfortable. There... More
