We had rather a mixed experience staying at this B&B. It was really more of a small hotel with 19 rooms and the impression given was that of a less intimate atmosphere than with other inns. Certainly the welcome as we arrived was rather brusque with the member of staff charged with receiving us beckoning me with a curled finger...

We have family in the area and have spend a number of Christmas eves in this property and frankly its a semi tradition when visiting at that time of the year...The fireplace and the bed are two of the best features ...coming into a dark room with antique fixture to a warm fire and a fluffy old time bed is...

This was truly a gem of any Bed & Breakfast we've visited. Great hospitality, wonderful snack/drinks, & a delicious breakfast, out in the courtyard! I would highly recommend the 1842 Inn to any one, especially those who seek history1

We needed one day for a business transaction. Accommodations were so quaint, we arrived late on a foggy evening. We were welcomed to warm southern hospitality! A fire in the fireplace warmed us along with a glass of wine. We had breakfast delivered to our suite, served piping hot and fresh baked! When our business associate arrived we were notified...

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and the 1842 Inn was even better than I was expecting! The front desk clerk Joanne was so friendly she spent time with my husband while he waited for me to join him while I was returning from a business trip. My plane was delayed and I didn't get to enjoy the...

2nd time visiting Macon, 1st time staying at the 1842 Inn, but I will definitely be back. What a gem of a find. The rooms are lovely, and quite comfortable. The staff is friendly and ensure there is nothing you lack. Good selection for breakfast and everything was fresh and homemade. A nice and relaxing happy hour (drinks and appetizers)...

We met friends in Macon because it was a halfway mark for both of us. Our friends had already booked a room and when we arrived it was so beautiful and full of charm, we booked a room on the spot! We stayed in the Douglass room and it was comfortable and cozy! Our friends stayed in the Cotton Merchants...

After traveling Georgia's historic Antebellum Trail from Athens to Macon, my wife and I surfed the Internet to find a good place to stay in Macon. Friends recommended the 1842 Inn. It sounded like Tara. We made a reservation. We loved the experience. Built in 1842 by John Gresham, it is an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture with a...

This Inn is beautiful on the outside and just as beautiful on the inside. It is on one of the most, if not the most, historical streets in Macon. We had no idea Macon had So many stately homes that have been restored and are simply stunning. We stayed in the carriage house behind the Inn in the Douglas suite....

Was so happy that this Inn met the expectation for a lovely welcoming Southern respite! Gorgeous front porch with rocking chairs - nice for sipping your afternoon cocktail or morning beverage. The original staff person who checked us in was a little abrupt...not tremendously congenial as one would expect for this type of Inn; she did, however, warm up a...

The 1842 Inn blends the amenities of a grand hotel and the ambiance of a country inn.
