We had a single overnight stop here en route to Savannah so did not really have the time to enjoy the beautiful 1842 Inn fully. We stayed in the Nancy Hanks room which fronts the courtyard and is quiet. The room is a reasonable size with a compact bathroom, we found the decor and fittings a bit dated and dull....

This hotel made our stay in Macon special. Although it's grandeur gave you a great impression of past times in a grand antebellum house, you felt it was your home while you were there. We met lovely people there: all staff and several guests. Good location for walking to downtown places of interest. We didn't feel at all restricted as...

Driving up and seeing the majestic columns of this old Southern mansion again, all I could think of was "Ah, we're back home." JoAnne treats guests like family and the inn echoes of simple, quiet days gone by in the old South. Beautiful and charming rooms, and a peacefulness that is second to none...can't wait to go back-- yet again.

This is an elegant old Inn that makes every guest feel special. The personal attention to detail was greatly appreciated. We loved the beautiful antiques and furnishings throughout the house and cottage and especially enjoyed a wonderful breakfast! Will definitely stay here again. Don't be afraid to stay in the cottage. We stayed in the Douglas room and it was...

We made a reservation via TripAdvisor a month ago.. it had been ten plus years since our last good stay at the 1842 Inn After a day walking around the Georgia State Fair in Perry, we were ready for a relaxing stay. And did we find it.. the Inn was full of folks escaping the hurricane that had hit Fla,...

This is the second visit to this wonderful place. Last time was in the rooms out back but this time was in the elegant main building. We enjoyed cocktails on the big front porch. The room was large and tastefully decorated. We ordered breakfast with a couple of changes and were asked if the Kitchen had the order correct. Which...

This is a beautiful historic home that has loads of character. We were greeted by Joanne who was the epitome of Southern hospitality. Even though we arrived at noon and we knew checkout wasn't until 4pm, she was so genuinely happy to welcome us and offered us waters. Our room wasn't ready yet, which we expected, and she offered to...

We stayed here for two nights on our road trip from Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway and through to Florida. We were made to feel so welcome. It's a beautiful property and the staff are really interested in you. Our room "Douglass Room" was wonderful and the breakfasts were first rate. I have to say a big thank you to...

We stayed at the Inn one night. The staff was very pleasant and could provide pet friendly accommodations in the cottage. It was quiet and very comfortable. We enjoyed tasty appetizers on the front porch with bar service provided. For dinner, we were given directions to a pet friendly restaurant that allowed pets in their outdoor dining area. The fellow...

The 1842 Inn blends the amenities of a grand hotel and the ambiance of a country inn. The guest rooms and public areas of the inn dwell within a Greek Revival antebellum house and an adjoining Victorian house that share a quaint courtyard and gardens.
