great room, great internet, nice hotel, but no breakfast other than grab and go. There was no decaff coffee in the lobby area and they were clearly doing some renovating given the boxes all over the lobby area
We found this room comfortable. The front desk young man greeted us immediately. The location was easy off and on to I 75. We would stay there again if traveling on the interstate and needing a comfortable place to spend the night!
Arrived to learn that the entire 1st floor was unavailable -- apparently it was too much trouble for them to text or email that info when they got my reservation. The ice tray in the room was full of water - guess preparing the room for a guest does not include turning on the refrigerator. Three of the electric outlets didn't work. Noise from the air conditioner and outside road noise kept me up all night. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels on 5 continents during my working life, and this place set two firsts: 1) the first hotel that had no cups (not even plastic) in the bathroom, and 2) the first hotel I have ever seen that requires you to agree to "Terms and Conditions" in order to watch TV. Then to top everything off, there was absolutely no breakfast in spite of the fact that the desk person at checkin went to great lengths to brag about their "full service breakfast", mentioning it several times. This place cannot hope to match Super8 for service, amenities, or anything else you look for in a hotel and yet they charge more than twice as much -- amazing that they have any business!…
This is the best hotel that I ever stayed in. The room was very nice and the staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The price was very reasonable. I will be coming back.
This Wingate property is under renovation. With that, promises are made and not kept. First, the staff at the desk were polite and helpful. However, the promises made on bedding material was not kept by housekeeping. Also, while there was the COVID-19 epidemic, one staff member insisted that I stay 6 feet away, but the staff person would not wear a mask themselves. (I wore a mask when I was inside public areas. Second, the hotel was clean and quiet. The room beds and furniture was too firm. It was like a granite tombstone with upholstery cloth over it. First night, I slept on the floor. The hotel did not have extra mattress pad covers to soften up the mattress. (no extra bedding supplies? That is a red flag). Due to the renovation, the washer and dryer were in an neighboring hotel, not the structure I was staying at. Due to the renovation, the ice machines were not working. Due to the renovation, the vending machines were not available. Signs stated we could purchase beverages at the desk. When I went to the desk, only apple juice and water were for sale. Due to COVID-19 epidemic, the hotel only provided a cold sack breakfast with granola bar, danish, apple, and yogurt. Surprising, this was the only hotel in SC-GA and AL that did "not" provide a hot breakfast. Due to renovation, there was construction material stored in the lobby and meeting areas. I am disappointed with the $50 "incidentals" fee "temporarily" charged. The experience was like staying at a motel that charged by the hour rather than a respectable establishment. This was the only hotel in my AL-GA-SC that required an upfront "incidentals" charge. Due to the super hard /firm bed and upholstery, I will not stay here again. I want to thank the polite and friendly staff. However, the employees as a whole are not communicating with each other. Management appears to "not" have the funds to keep basic services running. Management also appears to use COVID epidemic as an excuse to cut service to customers. These cuts were not experience at other hotels in the area.…
