My buddy and I stayed there in the middle of June and we would definitely stay there again. The rooms were fine and clean and the food at the bar was great. An added plus was the location of the bar/resturant which was just across the parking lot. The location was perfect for what we wanted which was fish and float on the Current river. The folks running the place could not be nicer and more friendlier!
I was a little leery after reading some of the reviews from 2016. However, we had a great stay! No bugs, Comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom, working ac and friendly staff! Also has a fridge and microwave in the room. We would definitely stay here again! We had a blast at the bar that's on the property. They have billiards, darts, gaming machines (entertainment only) and a great spot for dancing!
OMG, what a nice friendly place to stay for the night or days. Told me it was under new owners & boy is it nice. Rooms clean & nice beds. Bar across from the motel & the food (cheeseburgers/ chicken wings) are very very good & homemade. Such friendly folks & relaxing place to stop. well worth the stop/stay...plan on going back
We were just passing thru and stayed here in January. Very clean, quaint, cozy, single room and super friendly owners:). We ate at the bar n premises and had a great cheeseburger fries, and sweet Thai chili wings. Wonderful experience
Room was clean and beds were comfortable: we had four people in a double room. Able to park right outside the room, and there is a porch with tables and chairs outside. A microwave and small fridge are included. They even went out and purchased a coffee maker for our room, although you have to bring your own coffee and filters. The owners are very nice! Right now, they are only accepting cash payments, and they tell you that when making a reservation. I would certainly stay there again.
Filth rooms. One step down from a tent. Ants and roaches. No housecleaning. Embarrassing to take my family. Toilet overflowed. Man with plunger worked on it. Told us to use our old towels to push the water back until it dries. No lie. Disgusting.
My car had broken down on a Sunday afternoon in Van Bueren, MO and I wasn't able to get my car back until the next morning. Luckily, Big Spring Road Motel had a room to offer me for the night and the staff was SUPER friendly (as well as the townies). It was a very stressful night for me (being on my own, in the middle of nowhere) and I am glad I could hang out with these warm and welcoming people.
This had all the trappings of a GREAT place to stay but, fell short in many areas. This is a drive up, with a great front porch area in front of the rooms - a great place to gather and watch the rain - which is exactly what we did. There is also a pub on the property with a limited menu (my burger was good). The beds were just OK and the rooms were all in finished wood. We walked into our room which was sweltering hot and stunk. The fridge was unplugged, closed and it was full of mold - nasty. No breakfast or in room amenities. There were two druggies wandering the lot all afternoon, evening and into the next morning. Not the fault of the hotel - just an observation.
Big Springs Motel, was the worst place I have ever stayed. First...they do not allow ANY cancellations.. The room is so small you can barely turn around in it. The carpet was damp, from the refrigerator leaking, and air conditioner condensation. The 'SMELL' of cat pee, and nasty body odor is almost enough to gag you. The TV cable did not work in our room.. The wifi password they give you, connects but will not let you access anything. We couldn't even watch for bad weather that was in the area. Except watch it pass over us. The registration person, the manager sent to our room to review our complaints, was off duty and drinking at the hole in the wall bar. She told us herself, that the owner was cheap, and did not do any repairs. He doesn't even pay his staff min. Wage. The owner needs to take more pride in his investment.. It looks nice on the outside, but horrible on the inside. And they make you stay two night min. We would have checked out after the first night.. I do not recommend this place to anyone.. I would sleep in my car over this place, again. Ohhhh and hot water took 20 min. To get hot/warm in the shower.…
We stopped in for the night. The room has wood everywhere, which I absolutely love. The price was very reasonable. I would have loved a coffeepot in the room but for the price I totally understand. Jim the owner was very polite and knowledgeable of the area. The lounge was very reasonable as well. We would go back for sure.
