The hotel is right across from the beach. However, I found two live roaches in the restroom!!! The room was decent size and had two queen size beds. The carpet was dirty and stained. My niece was walking barefoot and her feet were black after 30 minutes!!!!

If you just need a place to shower n sleep it's ok for being so close to the bay.. the owners are rude the parking lot is cramped and it's full of out of town const workers. We paid a $100 for a downstairs single king but I seriously doubt we'll stay here again.

Pros...
A/c worked very well. Spacious room with microwave and mini fridge. Looks clean. Staff friendly.

Cons...
We called the night before we would be arriving and made the reservation. We got the confirmation number once our credit card was charged, and told the girl we would be in after 10.00pm the next night. We were assured everything was fine. Little did we know that with this place, you need to confirm even though you have a confirmation number. They had no room for us because we didn't call to confirm! Really!? It hadn't even been 24 hrs yet, and we already paid in advance, so they should have NEVER given our room to someone else! The manager arranged for us to stay somewhere else and said we would have to come back for the remainder of our stay. We looked forward to swimming in the pool, but it was filthy with trash floating and very green with algae. Disgusting! Being that it was Memorial Day, you would think they would have been prepared. Nope....disappointed kids:/
Oh, and the fridge didn't work. Last, the parking is horrible and not enough of it...

I will not be staying here again.

absolutely disgusting. There were bugs in the room. We found hair on the sheets so the sheets were not changed from the previous guest. The carpet was dirty. the room was extremely hot because the A/C was off so it took almost an hour for the room to cool off. In the Texas heat, the A/C should be left on around 80 degrees so there can be some air circulation in the room so it doesn't take long to cool when the guest arrives. The furniture was damaged. The fridge was covered in mildew and stank. The swimming pool had green water. This was the worst budget Inn hotel I have ever stayed in. I would definitely recommend for anyone not to stay here.

The EconoLodge will be the ONLY place in Corpus where I will stay in the future. Its quality and service are in very pleasant contrast to the generally ghastly hotels in Corpus, especially on the bayfront.

My visit was over the two nights of 19-20 October 2007. On the motel's website, I got a good Web rate, which was honored.

To reach the EconoLodge from U.S. 181 or I-37, take the exit toward the Marina (stay left instead of forking toward the Crosstown Expressway). Proceed to the end (Shoreline Drive), turn right, and proceed for less than 3 miles. The two-story motel will be on your right, past what's currently an empty field and just before a church with a large steeple. You will see the church before you see the EconoLodge.

The entrance drive is cramped and covered, so if you're driving a tall vehicle with surfing or sailing equipment atop it, take care. There is a narrow drive from the rear that can be used. The parking area is compact, and there seem to be exactly enough spaces (at best) for a full house.

I had requested a second-floor room, quietest possible. I was assigned #202, which qualified. Lugging "Bagzilla" up the outside stairs was not fun, but the stairway (in the middle of the hallway areas) is a straight shot up (no reversing direction halfway up).

To enter one's room, the room card needs to be shoved down into the slot, the door handle opened, and the card removed, in that order.

The room interior was excellently appointed. The carpet, although not new, was clean. All furniture, fixtures, and linens were in excellent condition. Instead of the usual cheesy artwork on the walls was exquisite millwork. The ceiling above the bed was slightly vaulted (with millwork); one could easily picture a canopy being added around the bed.

The room contained a desk with chair, a soft chair, a large TV, a small closet area, a one-seat bar area with tall chair, a microwave & mini-fridge (both musts!), and an in-room coffeemaker. The air conditioning was strong, and a plastic guard kept most of the curtain from billowing in the air flow. While not unduly noisy, the A/C was loud enough to provide enough "white noise" to eliminate most of whatever sound could come from outside. And (dig this) there were electrical outlets available, visible, and reachable throughout the room. The only thing conceivably "missing" was a fold-out rack on which to put one's suitcase, but the room had plenty of floor space, which sufficed.

The bathroom sink was outside the toilet/shower area, with enough counter space to spread out toiletries. The bathtub appeared a bit short & narrow, but the curved curtain-rod eliminated that misconception. Bath linens were standard for a mid-range budget motel. Water pressure from all fixtures was good, including from what must have been a high-pressure showerhead. All faucet handles (and the showerhead) were two-toned gold/chrome -- a VERY classy and different touch. The showerhead was rigged WAY up high (at least 7' -- thank you!) in a manner able to accommodate even tall guests.

The king bed was comfortable, although the mattress was not brand-new. The room's clock-radio, which I didn't touch and never use anywhere (why does any motel EVER have these?) went off at an odd hour, but I unplugged it in favor of my own alarm clock.

The motel has a small but decent-sized oblong pool (depths of 3' & 5' only) with lounge chairs. The pool faces in such a direction that there will be both sun and shade at all but high noon. The water was very clean.

My room opened almost onto a large, open deck area, from which one can see Shoreline Drive and the bay just beyond. If there were beach chairs (and nothing stops you from setting up your own), this would be a good tanning area; instead, a picnic table is there. I observed it being used briefly by quiet guests at sunset.

The motel grounds are clean. I observed an elderly man (perhaps the father of the owners) whisking up whatever small debris was around.

My room was quiet, but not able to block out VERY noisy guests next door (a family of at least 5 people, including a child). They slammed their room door, stomped on the outside concrete corridor, and talked loudly until I nicely asked them to belay that.

Checkout was efficient and friendly. I complimented the owner/manager on running a fine operation. The only thing glaringly missing would be a public computer for guest use in the front office.

This EconoLodge will be my only lodging in Corpus hereafter, and I strongly recommend it to you.

This property is privately owned and has been recently renovated. The owners have done a fabulous job with the interiors of these rooms - definitely not your average EconoLodge stay. Ceramic tile in the bathrooms, exquisite mill work in the rooms. It's obvious that they care about their customers and the quality of their stay. The room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a waterfront property without a lot of unnecessary frills. I will be returning to this property on my next trip to Corpus Christi without a doubt!

My wife just recently as of last week went to Corpus Christi to complete her clinical. She is a medical students. Because we live on another side of town my wife decided to get a hotel for her stay in order for her to complete her clinical objectives. She planned on staying there for a week but initially changed her mind and left on Wednesday instead of leaving Saturday. My wife and I are very economical & financially responsible. We did not want to spend too much money for a hotel (4nights stay). The hotels around Corpus Christi are very expensive and have horrible quality. I know this now, but at the moment and at the time my wife and I were looking for a hotel we did not know this.

Because I have to work I was unable to accompany my wife on the trip to Corpus Christi. So, over the phone my wife and I discussed and talked about our options of which hotel room would be suitable for both her and I. The hotel room had to have good rates and be clean.

Budget Inn has to be by far the worst hotel room that man has ever created!! My wife got the room that night and I get a call from work with her being hysterical crying and screaming telling me that there was a rat right next to her in bed as she slept. My wife quickly got up out of the bed ran into the restroom locked the door called for service and people came and took forever I might add, and ended up knocking down the door. My wife advised the man to pack all of her stuff and put it in the bag and to make sure that there was no rats in her bag the man kindly did so. My wife got her things and quickly got the hell out of that hellish environment. My wife requested that she get her money back, but of course greedy business people in a world filled with corruption and inhumanity the lady at the front desk refused to give my wife a refund and only refunded her for the nights that she did not stay. They managed to ciphone her money for the one night that she stayed which wasn't very long because she got into the hotel pretty late and only stayedin there for about 4 hours until she fell asleep and found a fat RAT right next to her in bed. I do not write reviews. I quite frankly don't believe in reviews. But I felt as a citizen and a taxpayer that I would be doing an injustice and violating my conscience  if I did not reveal this truth to anyone who thinks or even ponders the idea of getting a room at Budget Inn at Corpus Christi.

The rates are ridiculously high over 60 something dollars a night to live with rats and roaches is beyond me. This place also reeks. The stench is divine. If you look at other reviews you can see that I am NOT lying. This place has horrendous reviews and rats in bed with customers is unacceptable. This place should be closed down!!!

If you love yourself, or love your wife or husband or anyone, you would NOT reccommend this place. I wouldn't recommend this place to the devil!

My family and I went on a planned 3 day trip to Corpus. We stayed at another hotel for our planned trip. We decided to stay an extra night, but unfortunately the hotel we were staying at was full. We sadly packed our things and checked out. Most of the average priced hotels were booked. We just about gave up when we came across Budget Inn. It looked like a bad idea when we looked at it after staying at the nice hotel we were at. But looks sure can be deceiving at times. The staff was very sweet to us, the room was surprisingly clean, the pool was clean, the beds were very comfortable, breakfast was till 10am and they let us check in as soon as the room was ready at 2pm (whereas the fancy hotels, check in was at 4pm no exceptions). The lady at the front desk was so nice. I needed extra towels, sheets, to wash clothes pass the time the laundry room closed and the kids wanted to swim longer than the pool stayed open and they warmly said "yes" to it all. We plan to go back next week and will definitely stay there again! Another plus is that the beach is across the street, perfect.

1st time to Corpus Christi. I just needed a place to lay my head - wasn't expecting much.
I really hand it to this un-assuming place. Clean, and everything you could want. I think I paid $69 (off season).
Oh .. the Ocean is across the street!
Nice people.

Came to this hotel because it was the cheapest with okay ratings for spring break 2014. When we arrived we had to come from the back because in the front the roads were under construction and closed off. But as soon as we went into the property our first reactions was "Oh my gosh! its ghetto". Small parking lot/very tight parking. We smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Pool was small. The pictures we saw before arriving through other websites never showed the outside buildings and the way it looked. We actually went to go look at other hotels and prices before we even checked in just in case we decided to cancel. We ended up just deciding to stay one night before getting another hotel. The front lady was very very polite and let us pay for 1 night instead of 2. Went into our room and was very surprised. It was like the rooms got an upgrade but not the outside. It wasnt the best room we been in but it was okay enough. We slept great. No disturbances, no loud noises. Especially for being spring break and hotel located across from beach we expected party noises and all but nope, very quiet. Our fridge was dirty told the front lady and someone came within 15mins to come and clean it. We ended staying for 2 nights after all because we only really were in the hotel to sleep. Learned not to judge a hotel by first glances. Great affordable price, comfortable. AC kept our room cold , loved it.

"Hotel faces sideways to beach. Only room 201 has a view of beach from inside the room. We payed a little more for this room, and we requested it while making reservation. Room 201 has a counter with 2 bar stools at it, just for looking out the window at the view. THERE ISN'T A FITNESS CENTER, OR RESTAURANT, SO THEY ARE NOT TERRIBLE- JUST MISSING."
