Liked the idea of a historic old hotel, rather than a chain. Unfortunately, this one is a little too historic and old. We had one of the 'historic' rooms - a street-facing room on the 2nd floor (other rooms are more modern, supposedly). The room...More

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I apologize for the noise of the trains, our rooms towards the opposite side of the building do not have the problem that a few of the limited rooms on the front do. We are...More
If you're looking for a "Holiday Inn Express" type experience keep on trucking. If you are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary you will find the Calumet Inn a wonderfully unique stop over. We stayed in the "Belleweather Plantation" room on the...More
Went to Pipestone. MN to see the Pipestone National Monument, which everyone should see (beautiful and serene; an educational and historic experience). We saw the Calumet Inn online and thought an old, updated hotel would be perfect for our visit. We have stayed in several...More
We were on our way home from Rapid City and found this place for the night. It was a place to sleep. We were disappointed that pipestone doesn't have any bar and grill places to have a drink or burger at. We went to the...More
The good: It's got lots of character, especially in a small town like Pipestone. Everyone was really nice and accommodating. The shower products were good quality. They allow pets.
The not so good: The walls are pretty thin so you hear all the creaks and...More

Sorry I can't answer specifically about the family suite. We stayed in room 205, but were able to peek into a few other rooms on the second floor. If you're looking for a shiny, "sparkly" room that looks like every other room you find in new hotels, this isn't the place for you. If you like historic, clean, comfortable, "homey" as in kind of a grandma's house feel, this is exactly what you want.
I couldn't access their website this morning to see what they say about the family suite. I would suggest you give them a call. They should be able to answer your question. Everyone who worked in the hotel seemed very friendly. I would ask if the suite is one of the rooms that has been remodeled recently and wouldn't hesitate to ask politely if they could possibly send a couple of photos of the room your interested in. (We did post pictures of room 205 with our review.) They may or may not provide photos, but it never hurts to ask.

The Hotel Hell episode was quite interesting. It seems like it has gone down hill since it was filmed. I don't know about all of the rooms, but the two we saw had wall paper including large roses wallpaper in the rose room. I honestly can't remember the furniture in our room. I thought it was not typical motel furniture but nothing unusual. We did not have a jacuzzi or claw foot tub. The rooms are large and seemed comfortable enough to us.

In answering this question, you have shown that your business model supports the idea that honesty is not needed when to the public. I do not believe that misrepresenting yourself in order to gain free publicity is ethical. I will be in the area soon, but I will not be staying at the Hotel Calumet as I don't have confidence in your integrity after reading through the answers you have provided here.
