Detailed Reviews
The best part about this place is the design- everything else can use some serious refining. Starting with the website that bundles this property with the original location. You honestly can’t tell which property has what. We paid $400/night for a family suite and had little to no housekeeping and by that I mean we got fresh towels and 1 of 3 of our beds made ONLY ONCE during our stay. There are no drawers in the bedrooms, no luggage stands and very little countertop space in the bathroom. The free breakfast is minimal and if you ask for water- you are told to get it from any sink- the bathroom was the closest. There are tables outside but they are in the direct sunlight with zero shade. This property is alongside the main highway and if facing the road it can be very loud. There was no chromecast installed on either tv, front desk not knowledgeable (and the young guy in the beanie is not friendly), the pool is closed, no fire pit (have to go to sister property), I could literally go on and on. This place was beyond disappointing and honestly put a damper on what used to be one of my favorite places to visit.
Shout out to the young man (from GA) working at the other location. He actually made us feel welcome and listened to our frustrations.

We hear you regarding the website and are working to ensure that the presentation of the hotels is an accurate representation of the what you get and the differences between the properties. Terrible hotel experience. If I could give this hotel zero stars I would! Where to begin….
Let’s start with reservation issues- I had booked a Rocky Mountain Double Queen which was supposed to have a balcony and a view. I was also supposed to receive a 20% discount for signing up for the mailing list. Received neither- when we went to check in, was informed there was a “housekeeping issue” and we were given a ground floor room with no view. Also never received the 20% discount. In addition, couldn’t help but notice before we arrived that the hotel had significantly lowered its rates from the time we booked and emailed representatives from Trailborn asking whether they would honor the day’s “walk-in” rates which were lower. Despite receiving email confirmations from representatives of Trailborn that they would honor the lower walk-in rates, they never did. Representatives of Trailborn stated in emails they would refund me the difference but they never did.
Perhaps all would have been forgiven if the stay had been wonderful but it was the opposite of wonderful. Outdoor swimming pool was full of green sludge and declared “out of order”. As was the outdoor swimming pool at the sister Trailborn property. One of the reasons we had even chosen the hotel was so that our kids could have a place to swim after hiking. Property is an old motel that has received a new coat of paint but at the end of the day you pay exorbitant rates to stay at an old motel with very slick marketing. Nothing looks like the pictures on the hotel website. Breakfast was mediocre. Room was cramped. You could hear everything in the room next door. Have never felt so ripped off by a hotel in my life! Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else in Estes Park.

Guys, please listen to the reviews. I decided to ignore them and think they were dramatic. No, they really are not dramatic at all.
This place is a total dump and a huge waste of money. We arrived on a Sunday and were put on the very end of the building, (weird bc the lot was completely empty and we saw no one ). And they were unable to assign us a different room because it was “fully booked”.
There’s not even stairs there to get to your room. We were assigned 116 and you have to literally climb a hill and go through trees and bushes.I saw another review mentioning this and just assumed it was dramatic. It wasn’t!!! My hair was full of leaves and twigs
AND there’s glass and trash all outside our room????? What is this place??? And how are there no stairs still? This place has been opened long enough to have stairs. This is so unsafe and anyone unable to climb will not be able to get into their room. This owner rushed opening this place. I had knee surgery and didn’t know I’d have to hike up a nasty hill to get to my room.
Not even the worst part. The room was foul. Hairs all over shower (attached in my photos) shoe prints all over, dirty blankets, like this place was sickening.
Who ever is the owner, PLEASE listen to these reviews. I cannot believe this has any 5 stars and the marketing is a total scam- this looks nothing like the photos. I don’t like writing bad reviews but it had to be done so that people are aware. Please fix this place and stop posting misleading photos online.
And shout out to Connor, he was the only good thing about this place. He was very kind, compassionate and understanding of the issues, he is the type of employee this company cannot afford to lose. I hope the owner sees this and recognizes the good employees and fixes these MAJOR issues.
Please avoid booking this location at all costs, at least until the owner decides to do the right thing and put in the right work of this dump.

BEWARE!
We stayed at this new property in early June 2024. It was a terrible experience. Trailborn is a hotel brand that renovates old motels into modern properties and I was excited to check out their new Estes Park hotel. On arrival, the front desk staff failed to notify us that stayover service is not provided.
The most pressing and unfortunate issue is that for a newly renovated hotel, no steps were taken for sound dampening from one room to the next. We could hear and feel the vibration of every step another guest took in the rooms next to ours or even a few doors down. The walls were so thin we could hear our neighbors clearly. At night we slept with earplugs, but were still interrupted any time another guest arrived back late, woke up early, or as much as tiptoed in another room up and down the hallway by the vibrations on the floor.
The property is only partly opened and need to resolve this sound dampening issue asap with the rooms that are not yet renovated.
The midcentury reno is cute, but the sound quality issues are disruptive and not tenable.

Hi 72annee, Thank you for staying with us and for your honest review. We hear you (pun intended) regarding the soundproofing and are actively working on solutions while being cognizant of the reality of renovating an old building. I apologize about the stayover service, and this has been fixed with housekeeping availble throughout your stay. If you could reach out to us at marketing@staytrailborn.com so we can make this right, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Trailborn

Good location if you want to visit downtown estes park, the historic stanley hotel and rocky mountain national park. however, this location has no restaurant, cocktail bar or fire pits. they are also doing construction right now.
if i’d known this, i would’ve just stayed somewhere else.

I believe the marketing of this hotel is superb. I bought two nights and it was the worst! Around $250 a night and one of the crappiest places I've stayed in a while.
There's virtually only a kind bed and a couple old coffee tables and bedside tables in a huge room. No chairs, regular height table, and no luggage racks. There's a shelving unit for towels and small items, and a tv cabinet with a small refrigerator. Instant coffee.
The bathroom sink is located outside the bathroom in a small corner counter with two approximately 1' x 3' counter coming out from each side. The shower tiles need cleaned desperately.
The smoke alarms went off because when you stand in front of the mirror over the sink to blow dry your hair, the smoke alarm is directly behind you and the heat sets it off. No way could we reach it to turn it off.
Please read other review before booking this place.

This motel was not ready for business and needs serious attention paid to its operations and functionality. Minimal effort was put into updating the property - a coat of paint and a lot of hullabaloo about a branded cooler about covers it. The walls are paper thin, the sliding door to the patio barely functions, the bathroom floor tile was "vintage," the TV only operates using a QR code on your device (even to turn it off).
The front desk workers all seemed brand new to both the motel and hospitality industry in general. "Where can we grab a burger around here?" was met with a blank stare and "not really sure." "Where is the pool you advertised on your website?" was responded with "yeah, mechanical issues, we're hoping it works in a few weeks. Oh and the pool at the other property, not working either. Yeah! I'd be totally annoyed if I wanted a pool too!" The "discount" I was promised never materialized, the "housekeeping" involved one out of 2 beds being made, garbage taken out but no bag replaced. No fire pit, no smores. Simply "going to the other property" isn't a walking/realistic option when wanting the ammenities advertised for your own hotel. Website is misleading and I feel hoodwinked, especially at these prices.

Hi Stefiwefie, Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Feeling like you have been duped stinks, and we would like to offer you our sincerest apologies that we did not meet your expectations. While the renovation was much more than a coat of paint and a branded cooler, the reality is that we are dealing with an older building which means that there are some endemic issues such as noise transference. However, there are things that we can address: ""vintage"" feeling new tile, a barely-functioning sliding door, etc. That said, we don't have any excuses for the service that you received. Hospitable service is at the forefront of the hospitality industry- and we failed to provide that. We would appreciate the opportunity to apologize in person and make this right. Additionally, speaking with you would allow us to fix the issues with the room you were staying in, and to get more insight into the housekeeping issues, and the discount that never materialized. If you could reach out to us at marketing@staytrailborn.com it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Trailborn

I agree with other posts in that I didn't really understand how far this was from the main location, which you can see off the main road coming in from Boulder. We more stumbled upon this when we were looking for Antonio's Pizza in the east part of town. However, the more secluded location was perfect for us, as it was quiet, serene, had great views of the Rockies, had some deer trample through the property, all stuff that we were looking for in Estes Park. Clean spacious room, and the continental breakfast was just right for our stay. It also makes for easy driving into RMNP as you can hit the interesection that can either take you toward the Beaver Meadow entrance or the Fall River entrance.

The location was perfect. Easy access to hikes, short drive to the Estes golf course and beautiful views. The fire pit out back was super cool.
The staff was super friendly and helpful and the rooms were spotless. The breakfast burrito was superb. Friends and I had a great time and will be coming back later this summer.
