The bed was incredibly comfortable and the proximity to Lake Estes is convenient. The room is furnished with a 2-seat table along with end tables at the head of the bed. The refrigerator worked overtime to the point of freezing some items, but we figured that out. The air conditioner was not necessary as mountain weather provides cool evenings and mornings. Coffee and a breakfast bar is provided each day at the office as a convenience. Wifi and cable TV are also available ( both of which were spotty after I saw a TDS provider climb the pole behind the hotel). The pool was empty and being worked on, while I saw people entering the hottub each day. They were also working on the fire alarm system, so future guests will be safe. Affordable digs with all sorts of activity.

The housekeeping staff and supervisor do an incredible job with this property. I found the housekeeping supervisor, Samantha, manages the property with the highest level of professionalism and addresses the keenest of details. Our room was serviced daily. She was a kind face I looked forward to seeing daily during our week-long visit. The property was recently renovated and with expansion comes a need for more diversity. As a person of color (POC), I felt personally grateful to Samantha and thought her friendliness and kind demeanor very refreshing and welcoming.

Staff was very friendly and helpful!! If you dont have reservations for RMNP we got right in around 7am!! As long as you are in the park before 9am you can enter with no reservations :)

Checked in for 4 nights into a $180 plus tax per night king bed suite. We decided to travel to Rocky Mountain National Park during the pandemic due to the ability to social distance and be outside. Hotel was chosen due to doors opening to the outside and layout of room plus breakfast. Upon opening the pull out sofa, the sheets were obviously stained and not changed from the previous guest. Manager came, changed the sheets and said she would be letting the owner know so they could call us. No one called. During a pandemic, the room was obviously not sanitized. Breakfast has very little choice. Sofa bed use required the mattress to be pulled out and put on the floor. The lack of caring in the staff is apparent as illustrated by masks being worn improperly or not worn by some management. We ended up cleaning the entire room with the sanitizing materials we brought which is ridiculous for the amount of money paid. Very disappointed. Lots of good alternatives in the area. The photo of the included breakfast menu shows the blue highlights as unavailable. It isn’t too much to ask for $180 plus tax a night to have cereal.

Thank you for your constructive feedback. I have to agree this is a terrible way of handling things and especially during a pandemic. We have talked and addressed this issue directly to assure it wont happen again. We really do apologize for all of these issue you had to encounter during your stay.

Got an email 1 week before traveling that my total rate for a week was $150 more than when booked online. Was told over the phone that the web site makes mistakes. Had to stay there as no other place had availability(traveling with dogs). Rooms were very small. Bed was comfy. A/C would not stay on overnight so we did not sleep well. Web site states daily housekeeping but housekeeping only offered if you ask and not available on weekends. No laundry service available, had to go to a local laundromat to wash clothes. Ice machine out of ice. The bathroom smelled of mildew. Not a good place to walk older dogs as there is no grass and the area is hilly.
How anyone could rate this place a 5 is a mystery to me. We left a day early as the room was filthy.

On April 8, 2021, we booked a stay at Coyote Mountain Lodge for three nights in accordance with our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.

At 2:15 PM on June 26, the day of our arrival, we inquired if we could check in early. The front desk clerk stated we could not, and that while there were issues with our Expedia booking that he had located our stay and to check in at 4:00 PM. We returned at 4:00 PM only to be told that due to issues with the Expedia booking, they did not have any available rooms for us and that we would have to look elsewhere.

Mind you, this booking was placed in IN APRIL and we had just hiked 10 miles in alpine terrain after two days camping in the rain and just wanted a place to stay for the night.

We contacted Expedia and they informed us Coyote Mountain Lodge cancelled our stay due to overbooking on JUNE 25th, the day before! Not only did the Lodge know about the overbooking, they made us wait almost two hours to tell us they did not have a room available. After further inquiry, they said they had a sister lodge that had rooms for a higher price than we could afford.

Luckily a nearby hotel had last-minute vacancies—or else we would have been out of luck, since we live 13 hours away by car.

The front desk clerk showed little to no remorse for this error and did not apologize. When asked if he had similar issues with Expedia in the past, he simply stated “yes” with no elaboration. However, we believe this issue to lie mostly with Coyote Mountain Lodge.

Obviously, we will not be returning and do not recommend this location to anyone.

Horrible customer service!! Pay attention to how many reviews mention this, I didn’t because we’ve never had an issue at any hotel we stay at. We are a 60 yr old couple and always responsible. When we checked in my husband told them we would be leaving early, the guy said to just put the keys in the secure lock box. We left at 4:30 am and put our keys in the unsecured key drop box, (which my husband was surprised at since the guy said it was a secure lock box) there was another set of keys and an envelope with a name on it. On July 20 we were charged for a set of keys! $100 but we know we left them. Calling the motel was a waste of time. I think it’s just a scam to make more money. The manager won’t even call us back and the girl at the front desk won’t listen.

Plus there was lots of noise from the pool, so much light due to lights by the pool that it was like daylight in our room at night.

Just don’t stay here. It’s not worth the hassle as these people could care less that we know we left the keys and have details that we would only have by putting our keys in the key drop box.

Although I properly cancelled a reservation for 3 nights and then rebooked for 2 nights, I was still charged for 3 nights. This reservation was booked through hotels.com. I reached out numerous times to the property and received no correspondence. When I checked in I was told I would be refunded for the extra night, however, this did not happen. The only way this issue was rectified was through a credit card dispute. Beware of booking this property as they do will not honor cancellation policy and do not reach out when contacted regarding issues.

We stayed just one night with our dog. They are very dog friendly and our room was cute and clean. We had little notes for how to operate the fridge and heater. I really appreciate that they’re going out of their way to be eco friendly (things like turning off the fridge when not in use). Mitch helped us and was awesome and super helpful and friendly. I was surprised to wake up and see how crowded the parking lot was because our room was very quiet all night. I think we’ll continue to book here from now on whenever we’re in Estes. The price was a great deal.

Hi! We put your key in an envelope and tape it to the office door with a map showing where your room is. If you have any issues, there is an on call phone number also posted next to the door. You can also call the Discovery Lodge, down the street, (970) 586-3336 if you have any additional questions. Leslie

What is difference between Deluxe Queen and Premium Queen room?
Answer from Michael C
Stewartstown, Pennsylvania149 contributions70 helpful votes
Don't know the diffference in these rooms, all I can tell you is to pay the extra $25-30 for the newer rooms at the bottom of the hill. They advertise that their rooms are remodeled but they are still like going back to the 1950s. The newer lodge style rooms in the newly built section are very nice.

Yes, this place is pet-friendly. We booked it because they allowed dogs, but we did not end up taking them due to the long journey for them. Hopefully, your cat travels well!
