After we found this place, it's the only place we stay in Estes. The entire staff is friendly! It's a gem in Estes and the rooms are super clean, comfortable and you can't beat the views. There's a 9 hole golf course right next door, beautifully maintained. And if you love Mexican Food, be sure to stop by Ed's Cantina for Fajita's, OMG ♥

Discovery Lodge is a great place to stay when visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park. It is located in Estes Park, which is only 3 miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s got it’s own pond with geese plus elk. There are benches around the pond and a play area. The room is spacious. The beds are comfortable. The room has a refrigerator, freezer and microwave. The hotel provides a hot breakfast along with other selections. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is an older hotel, 1950’s vintage. It was clean, comfortable, updated & well maintained. The location is near town, close to conveniences, and next to a lake. The view of the mountains is spectacular. Deer walked around the grounds every day. The price was low. The breakfast was good enough. The coffee was not good enough. But Starbucks is near so we survived bad coffee. Bad coffee won’t keep me away from here. They have 2 types of heat, one quiet & one loud. The quiet heat works great. I wish the people upstairs used it. You need a car. If traffic is heavy, it might be difficult to exit toward Estes Park. It is close enough to everything, simple, small but complete. It was clean, in good repair, & recently remodeled. There is a nice patio with chairs to sit on in front of each room. Good wifi. Decent tv. It was all we needed with no hassle for a fun weekend of hiking & enjoying the community.

There’s lots of construction going on there and the lake/ pond out back where you can walk your dog was littered with dog crap. It was like a minefield. Dog poop was literally everywhere. The rooms were ok, but seriously outdated. I won’t be returning.

We came to Estes for our wedding and honeymoon. We had 17 people in our group with 7 rooms rented for this week. So a good chunk of change we spent at this hotel. 1. the amenities state that it’s a pet friendly hotel but doesn’t state that the pets are addition every night. It also doesn’t give you an option to select how many pets you will have. The pet policy hyperlink in the confirmation email doesn’t work. So how are we supposed to know exactly what the policy is? 2. The hot tub is down but website doesn’t say anything about that either. 3. 2.5 minutes into every shower we lost all water pressure and couldn’t wash the shampoo out of our hair. 4. We called before our reservation to add an additional night (original was 3/11-3/17) we were wanting to check in on 3/10 and still stay to 3/17. Instead of doing that they moved the entire reservation up a day. 3/10-3/16. Now they are not honoring the original rate. 5. Went to eat their breakfast and picked up a cheese omelet and it was still frozen in the middle. We told the clerk that the omelets were still frozen in the middle and she said yeah. Like what do you mean yeah. Does management not realize that serving frozen precooked omelets is still a health code violation? 6. One of the 7 rooms of our party didn’t even have outlet covers. Thankfully we didn’t have any small children that could have been electrocuted from the open outlets. Long story short their website states they are a premiere lodging choice but that is an absolute lie. It is a crap hole. I’d rather stay at a Motel 6. The pictures they put on their website are incorrect, the rooms are 100xs worse than what the stock images are. I’m sure there is more to write about but this sums it up pretty well. After reading other reviews about the pet fees and extra cleaning fees people were charged we went to Walmart and bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the room. We are very clean people and clean pet owners but we were afraid of all the extra cleaning fees.

This is an older motel. Despite it's imperfections, it was a very pleasant stay for us. The beds were comfy, the parking was nice, and the staff was excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. Overall, if you're ok with a budget motel, I'd definitely recommend it! It was VERY clean. This hotel is about 1/2 mile from the busy restaurant and shopping area, so we did end up driving pretty much everywhere.

We stayed in room 203 and it has been updated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Enjoyed the balcony with a view of the pond and territorial view. The room was very clean. Efficient use of space and details were thought of to make the stay comfortable.

We stayed here Aug. 15-18. She said our cottage was recently renovated. The bed was comfortable but the tiny shelves on either side are pretty much useless - can only hold a cell phone. There was no daily room/maid service, which is fine with me but I don't recall hearing them say there would be none. The lobby has continental breakfast items and some seats for lounging if you choose. The door on our room was hard to close so you kind of had to slam it. Good old fashioned keys make you feel like you've stepped back in time. We had a view of the pond and saw many fish and people fishing. Our deck had a table and chairs but only part of it was covered and it rained the first two nights we were there. The A/C u it was finicky. Couldn't get it to cool down enough for my liking, even having it set at 65 it never felt like it got there. There is a ventless fireplace which we did not use, a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The bathroom has a hair dryer and shampoo/conditioner/body wash/hand soap in dispensers on the wall. It was very quiet and about 20 minutes drive to the park entrance. It is close to town but we drove over because we were reserving our legs for hiking, plus the rain. Safeway grocery store is diagonal. Beware, getting out of the driveway is tricky. There is a huge bump. My husband hit his head every time we left the place no matter how slow he went.

Stayed three nights at Discovery Lodge while hiking around RMNP. Overall, I was really happy with my stay. I wasn't sure what to expect given some reviews but my experience was positive. Location is excellent, 10 minute walk to downtown, 15-20 min drive to the main RMNP gate and no street noise. Double queen was a great size for one person and would easily accommodate 1-3 more too. My room was updated but the bathroom with shower was not. Still, was fine for me. Beds are really comfortable, cable/tv was nice after a long day hiking, and the mini fridge/microwave was so helpful for leftovers and food storage. Staff was helpful and friendly anytime I interacted with them. Did not take part in breakfast because I was up early to hike every day, but it is available from 7-10am. The entryway to the Lodge is not very clear, I missed it the first time. But that wasn't a dealbreaker. If you are arriving after dark though, FYI. Would definitely stay again when I'm in town.

We spent two days in Discovery Lodge. The room was bigger than we expected and we have a balcony that give us a good view. We arrived very late to check in however the staff were there even though we didn't let them know we were late. We recommend 100%.
