PROS: Kendrah at the front desk is amazing and very helpful. Beds were comfortable. Very clean and dust free rooms. Awesome shuttle service. The rooms that are renovated are very nice. CONS: Noise from highway through old windows left us awake most of the night. (some rooms have a pool view and are quieter) Some rooms are not renovated and are very dated. Parking per day is $25 The hallways could use a good carpet cleaning. Kind of hard to get extra bath towels (3 provided)

As a current Platinum member and soon-to-be Titanium Marriott Bonvoy member, with 72 stays at Marriott’s this year, I can confidently say that this location offers the BEST customer service I’ve ever experienced. The staff here are the kindest and most attentive people I’ve encountered, going above and beyond in every way. I’m not kidding you when I say my co-worker and I have said “I cannot believe how kind everyone is at this place” every single time we entered or left the property between our 2 night stay. The rooms were clean, and nice. The GYM is the best I’ve ever been to at a hotel. The POOL is MASSIVE and super nice.
I even left my clothes out on a dirty bed that I didn’t clear for them, and I came back that evening with my clothes folded and placed back on top of a newly made bed. Come here for the amazing and guaranteed great customer service and just overall best Marriott property I’ve ever been to in more ways than one.

I have been a Marriott Titanium member for 9 years. I believe that hospitality is the most important facet of hospitality for guests who stay at hotels away from their own homes: regardless of whether the guest is loyal or not. Unfortunately, I have found most hotel staff I have encountered to be inhospitable, and some of whom are tricky to work with. Thus, I recently decided to start writing short diaries/reviews for every hotel I visit (though it consumes my time) to hopefully provide some useful information for you and the hotel managers. My hope is that hotels continuously improve to try and become hospitable places with the purpose of serving their guests. In the end, my final evaluation (the number of stars) is heavily based on the quality of my interactions with staff as a loyal member.
I stayed at the Providence Marriott Downtown for 3 nights (checked in on Sep 6 and checked out on Sep 9). I checked in around 7:00pm on September 6. Below are my views on good (+) and not-good (-) about this hotel.
Good things: + The hotel is a few minutes walk to Brown University and downtown. + I communicated with my personal ambassador (Gabby) ahead of the stay and they managed to upgrade me to a hospitality suite, which is quite spacious. + Though the gym is quite small, it has essential equipment and is next to both the indoor and outdoor pools. The pools are quite nice.
Not-good things: - The person who checked me in (I should have asked for the name: you can backtrack on who was at the front desk around 7:00 pm on 09/06) seemed to be nice but they lacked an important skill: telling me about the hotel. The person just gave me the key and that was it. A front desk should at least tell the guest where the gym is, where the club lounge is, where the elevator is, etc. I had to ask the person all these information! The person didn’t offer me any water either (I only saw this when I checked out when another front desk person provided another guest.): I am not sure what was going on as I am an ambassador and I do not think that they provide water to higher elite (there is NONE). It appeared to me that the person didn’t care, they just didn’t want to provide me anything! - The suite 559 that they gave me was very old: table, sofa, etc have a lot of stains. The windows, looking over a parking lot, are small and stained. The room really needs some renovation. When I checked in and opened a door of the cabinet under the TV, one of the hinges came off! I called the front desk about the door problem on Sep 6. I came back from work around 6pm on Sep 7, the door was still not fixed and I had to call them again. Only then somebody came up and fixed the door. Furthermore, the room was not cleaned when I was back at 6pm on Sep 7. - My personal ambassador (Gabby) told me that I could have breakfast at the restaurant as an ambassador, but the hotel did the opposite: they only allowed me to have breakfast in the M-Club lounge.

I feel like I could write two different reviews for this place. I’m shocked that Marriott is still booking these outdated rooms out. It smelt moldy and musty and WAS moldy which is unhealthy to stay in. We arrived late at midnight and were too tired to request a room change but the next day we requested to be moved to the renovated rooms. These outdated rooms should be shut down and Marriott should be ashamed to be still selling them for this price. If it wasn’t for changing rooms I would be calling customer service requesting a refund. So unacceptable to have moldy ceilings, musty smelling rooms, and dirty fixtures all over the room. The air conditioner was also rusting and extremely loud. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you are guaranteed a renovated room. The renovated rooms are what you’d expect at a Marriott at this place.

We stayed in the older part of the hotel. It’s tired and in need of an update.
We switched rooms at arrival, first room had broken light fixtures and stains on furniture and bed linens. Second room was clean but not great. Mattress sags, bathroom cramped and outdated. No safe in room.
The hotel offers special rates to groups - there is a youth baseball / softball tournament in town so tons of families. The lobby was busy. If looking for a more subdued stay, go elsewhere.
I’ve stayed in hundreds of Marriott properties, this was one of my least favorite. I know it’s been a tough go the last sixteen months, but people are traveling, make an investment in fresh towels, mattresses and bedding. The small stuff matters.

We arrived Tue 12/26 at 11pm. Got in our room and went to use the bathroom and there was feces in the toilet. The front desk provided us with a new room. Had trouble sleeping due to noise in surrounding rooms and hallway. The next morning we decided we wanted to move to Court Yard Marriott a few miles away. We called Courtyard and there were rooms available. We called Marriott customer svc to request cancelling the next 2 nights at the Orms st Marriott. They indicated could not cancel over phone and we had to request at the front desk. We explained the poor experience that we had and that we wanted to move to Courtyard Marriott Downtown Providence. Manger said she could not cancel the reservation. We left hotel anyways asking they consider not charging us. They charged us for 2 nights we didn’t stay. This is a long way of saying don’t stay at Providence Marriott Orms street….Providence Courtyard is much nicer as is there staff.

This hotel advertises that it is renovated, but apparently only PART of it is renovated. And you have no idea where you will end up when you book! For us, we had a very gross room where nothing worked - the coffee maker, the shower, the toilet even - everything was broken! Even the hotel pool & hot tub, which they put prominently on their website photos - was down while we were there. I asked staff for help with things a few times and literally got blank looks and shoulder shrugs. This was quite literally the worst hotel stay I've had in awhile. Ugh.

I'll start by saying every member of the staff was courteous, pleasant and as helpful as could be. They treated us very well. My wife and I were there for a one night stay, using Marriott Bonvoy points so our visit was free. We were greeted at the recetion area promptly when we arrived about 4 p.m. Our room was very modern with comfortable beds and a spotlessly clean room and bath. A Kurieg type coffee maker was always on in the lobby area with your choice of coffees or teas. On Tuesday morning the restaurant was not open yet but they did provide a "Grab N Go" breakfast for $10.00 which was a very good deal as there was enough food in the bag to feed my wife and I. While we are not large breakfast eaters, the bag contained french Toast w/sausage, Yogurt, an orange, cranberry juice, a muffin, syrup & butter and plastic cutlery. It was all vbery good and tasty. The location was right on the edge of Atwells Street which is the entrance to Federal Hill. The room also had a large flat screen TV which I took to be about 56 inches with free HBO and Showtime.

If you are a Marriott Employee, do not stay at this property. They treat their fellow Marriott employees with the lowest level of respect possible. I stayed at this hotel for 1 night using my discounted rate while in town. I booked the deluxe king room and was downgraded without notice. When I arrived to the room, it was very outdated. The phone in the room also did not work, the toilet barely flushed, and there were stains on the ceilings and walls. When I called the front desk, I was told because I was using the employee rate, I was downgraded to the “bad side” of the hotel very rudely. Who does that? When my boyfriend called the desk, the front desk agent, Bianca was nicer to him and expressed that she was afraid of what the General Manager would say if she gave us the rooms we originally booked. She also mentioned that he tends to get mad at her often. That is not a healthy work environment if you ask me but oh well. Overall my experience at this hotel was below than the standard I expect when I stay at other properties.

I believe it is a 3 mile radius. That being said, if it is not crazy busy, you can work with the front desk to see if something slightly outside the 3 miles can be done.
There are more places to choose from in the Providence area.
