The Aloft Providence Downtown garners praise for its spotless surroundings and prime location, nestled in the heart of downtown with a plethora of dining options within walking distance. Guests revel in the engaging rooftop bar and outdoor spaces. The inviting atmosphere extends to the comfortable beds, although the hotel's theme and bar service have received mixed reviews. Rooms are lauded for being modern and spacious, yet some have noted cleanliness and noise as detractors. Staff kindness and efficiency shine, contributing to memorable stays, though the value proposition has faced criticism from guests expecting more.

I am a facilitator for academic exchange programs. We used the Aloft Hotel in Providence as a "base camp" for 25 exchange participants from July 14th - July 29th, 2024. I just wanted to share my gratitude for your team.

The participants (and also your guests) are 25 English language teachers from 17 nations participating in a two-week international, cross-cultural, academic exchange scholarship focusing on themes of Service Learning and Cultural Identity.

Instances when the team when above and beyond:
*I was warmly welcomed by the general manager, Damaris, within the first 48-hours of arriving with the group. She offered her name, contact information, and told me to reach out if the participants or I needed anything. She showed an authentic interest in our program and our participants.
*Diana Jeffrey (front door audit) getting cups of coffee/cream/sugar to-go for 9 participants (guests) before 6:15 am before they were departing for NYC on the Peter Pan bus. And she did it with a smile on her face the whole time; unrushed and unphased.
*Sunny, Jackson, and Amy at the front desk helped me receive/sort a deluge of Amazon packages in a one-week timespan. They often fielded questions about local sites, landmarks, and events, and they help to keep the participants informed and updated.
*Jendaia taking extra time to print out maps of local places for international participants (guests) who do not have SIM cards/internet on their phones
*Mackenzi printing materials I sent to this front-desk email address so quickly I didn't have time to put on my shoes and get in the elevator before she'd printed them! It was almost like magic!

I've stayed at 5-star hotels that don't respond to customer requests/services as efficiently! It's the little things that really shine. Yet, that's been my experience with your entire team. Everyone is polite, gracious, patient, and kind with our international exchange participants. For many of the participants, this experience is their first time outside their home countries; for most of them, it is their first time ever in the USA. We all feel not only treated with respect and appreciation, but genuine kindness.

It truly has made our stay and our exchange in Providence so much more comfortable and efficient. I'm not just a program facilitator, but I have also been a guest in this hotel with the participants over the last two weeks, and I personally have received excellent service. Miriam Rosario from housekeeping is a rockstar, and she always makes sure our participants have enough TP, tea/coffee, and water (especially during these hot July days).

I can't thank you enough, but I will thank you once again: You're all wonderful, I deeply appreciate it, and I hope that you continue to provide exceptional hospitality, in the most genuine sense of the word. We can't facilitate intercultural exchange programs like this without the help of trusty guest services teams like yours!

We stayed one night on New Year’s Eve. We did t get tickets to the party up at the rooftop bar because we made the trip a last minute plan and it was already sold out although at the desk they said you could go up and see if they could accommodate us but know that it was a $30 cover for it. We chose to just walk around PVD and already had a reservation at Bacaro for 10pm so we didn’t want to miss that.

The hotel overall was good, great location, with only a few downsides.

Pillows are very basic and not very comfortable, the bedding(sheets) was average but good enough. The room was clean.

Drop off for valet parking was good. The person gave us some recommendations and was cheerful and helpful. Picking up the car the next day to leave was kind of a mess. They lost someone’s keys and it got backed up. We had to wait 20-25 minutes to get our car, only 2 people working then they had someone jump into to help as there were at least 20 people behind me.

Dear Creole, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent New Year’s Eve stay with us. We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed our great location and appreciated the cheerful and helpful service during your valet drop-off. It’s also great to know you made the most of your evening with a reservation at Bacaro - what a fantastic choice for a special night out! We regret that the rooftop bar tickets were sold out before your arrival, and we appreciate your understanding regarding the limited availability for such a popular event. We also value your feedback on our pillows and bedding. Comfort is incredibly important, and we’ll be sure to share your comments with our team as we continuously evaluate and improve our guestroom amenities. We’re sorry for the inconvenience you experienced during valet pick-up. It sounds like an unusually busy time, and while our team worked to manage the situation, we regret that it resulted in a delay for you. Please know we’re reviewing our processes to ensure smoother service during high-demand periods. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again in the future. If your travels bring you back to Providence, we’d love the opportunity to make your experience even better.

This trendy Marriott property is not only conveniently located and walking distance to both Brown and RISD, but the staff is extremely helpful and genuinely cheerful!

It’s a newer property with a fun vibe. The bed and pillows were comfortable—exactly what a tired parent needs after helping their college student move in!

Waterfire was happening as well, so I was able to walk there for the festivities.

I would highly recommend the Aloft in Providence and totally come back!

I stayed here for one night with my husband and son and that was more than enough time for me. hotel is cozy and not in a good way. First off, when you enter, the lobby is very dark. They are going for some pop, modern vibe, but it comes off as just creepy. The main problem with the hotel is the room setup. When you walk into the room, the first thing on your left side is the shower. There is no door! There is a tiny, almost quarter of a wall but in order to get to the main area of the room, you must walk past the shower. In trying to achieve the “modern” vibe, there is no couch, but a hard, built-in bench to sit on. The walls and window treatments are covered in a pattern with writing all over it. It gave me a headache. Basically if you are in the main area of the room, you have to sit in a bed. But back to the open area shower- the shower and sink are in this very special open area. The toilet is separate in a small cubicle, which thankfully did have a door. However, the writing patterned wallpaper in the toilet area made me cross eyed. The wall between the shower/sink area and the beds is also not a full wall. So morning comes and I get up to shower. Well no one else can sleep because the wall doesn’t go up to the ceiling, so the whole room is now lit. Then I go into the see thru shower and no one can leave their beds because if they do, they will get the privilege of watching me shower. The shower had those large bottles of shampoo and conditioner attached to the wall, except the shampoo was empty. So there I was, stranded in the see-thru shower with nothing to wash my hair with. Luckily, we quickly checked out afterwards and my dirty hair and I went about our day. My son will be attending school in the area and luckily there are many other hotel options for us to explore in Providence.

I'm not sure why there are complaints about this hotel??? I stayed here with my son for a Brown tour and we both loved it! It's super chic and modern without being cold. The room had everything we needed including a small fridge that kept our drinks really cold. Comfy beds. Lots of plugs and USB ports. AC worked like a dream (it was 100 degrees when we were there). The bathroom has a huge, long vanity with TWO sinks. You never see that in hotel rooms. Yes, the shower has a clear glass door but it's not a big deal unless you're super, super modest. My son just stayed in the bedroom area while I showered and vice versa. It's not a big deal. The shower is huge and all the soaps smelled nice. We were there for a very short trip but bummed we couldn't check out the outdoor bar area on the 4th floor, I'm sure it was cool. Room tip: we saved half the price of valet by parking in the open lot across the street. Very safe and easy. Highly recommend this hotel! It's clean, modern with all the right touches and very affordable. Only complaint -- there's no iron but that wasn't a big deal.

I was very excited when the day arrived to check into Marriott's Aloft Providence Downtown. The hotel was brand new. I had made the reservation months before the opening. I had gotten an email from the manager thanking me for my reservation and acknowledging my titanium elite status (nice touch). I even found street parking at the hotel entrance avoiding the $20 parking fee. I thought "This is going to be special." Oh if I only knew.

The first thing we noticed upon entering the hotel was that tables closest to the reception desk were covered in crumbs, though no one was in the bar area except the bartender who was bent over the bar with her nose in her phone; oblivious to my presence. At check in, my Bonvoy status was rewarded with a whopping 500 Bonvoy points. The hotel had a bar serving food. They could have at least given us a "welcome gift" of a food and beverage credit. While everyone is buzzing about the return of travel after Covid, Marriott is milking Covid for everything its worth by not reinstating status benefits.

From reception it was on to the elevators for our trip to the 5th floor.he elevator was dirty; the floor badly needed vacuuming and the walls a good buffing.

We were given room 527, the last room on the end of the floor. The last room is almost always a good sign. Sometimes it's a bigger room and sometimes it has corner views. This room was neither. I have stayed in Marriott hotels for 844 nights and this room was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It consisted of a bedroom area of about 120 sq ft (smaller than my home guestroom) separated from the bathroom by a divider that didn't even reach the ceiling. The bathroom was decent with a good size walk in shower. There was also a small bench ith the only 2 drawers in the unit anda 2ft wide pole with some wire coat hangers. I have stayed at other Marriott properties with a minimalist theme (eg their AC brand) but they were not minimalist in size and privacy.

After spending about an hour in the room we realized the noise from the street was going to keep us from getting a good night sleep. Fortunately we had used a throw away free nigh that was about to expire, so we just checked out and drove the 45 minutes home.

Providence is a great city. There are 3 other Marriotts. Two of the three, the Courtyard Providence Downtown and the Providence Marriott Downtown are cat. 5 like the Aloft. They are real hotel rooms with upgrade and suite night potential, centrally located and a much much better value than the Aloft.

Dear Mjtoncc Thank you for writing a review. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize that your experience at the hotel did not meet your expectations. I apologize that the cleanliness of the hotel was not up to par at your arrival. I will share that feedback with my housekeeping team and I assure you that it is not typical of our new hotel. In regards to our room, Aloft hotels feature urban inspired design along with lively and vibrant social spaces. Our location, within Providence's new Innovation and Design District is sought after with the main reason being that our neighborhood provides a serene landscape along the Providence River while still being within Rhode Island's capital city. I apologize that you felt that the street noise would have prohibited you from enjoying a great nights sleep. This is the first complaint of street noise since opening as the traffic from vehicles is extremely light compared to the rest of the hotels within the city. Once again, please accept my apologies that your Aloft experience was not what you have come to expect from Marriott. I assure you that on a return visit we will do all that we can to exceed your expectations

I recently stayed 2 nights at the new Aloft Providence hotel as a bit of a "staycation" here in my home state. The hotel is in a great location downtown. It's right within walking distance of PPC, restaurants and shops, as well as the river, but not in the super crowded area. There's plenty of parking garages and even some street parking right nearby.
The lobby is big and modern and there is a pool table and some games out to play. There were a ton of teenagers hanging out in this area when we arrived, which was fine. Check in was fast and friendly and we were quickly off to our room on the 6th floor. Our room had 2 queen beds and had a great view of the river and College Hill. The room is has funky decor, and is comfortable. The heat worked great on a very chilly day. The bathroom is modern and clean and there was nice high end soaps and shampoos. the wifi in the room worked fast and there were plenty of outlets everywhere.
In the morning breakfast is available for a fee (as a Titanium Bonvoy member we were given $10 credits per person which we used for breakfast), and there's a small market area with some snacks and drinks to purchase. My only complaint is when we checked in we were told coffee and tea would be out and never once saw it available. It would have been nice to have an afternoon coffee and evening tea. Not even anything to purchase was available.
I would absolutely stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

My wife and I stayed at Aloft in Providence R.I. for three nights as part of a Collett tour.

To begin with, there was precious little room to store anything you wanted to unpack. Each adult was allotted a single(!) 2'x2' drawer and half of a 2' rack with 4 hangers. There was no closet. The luggage rack was the top of the little cube that had the 2 drawers, which eliminated that as a storage space. The second suitcase had to live on the floor where we had to dig through it for the things we needed. That is ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

If for some reason you wanted to get some work done, I'll wish you the best of luck. There is no desk in the room. There is not a single chair in the room. There is a thin oval table and a 3 person bench (and we suspect the bench was designed by the same person who designed Spirit Airline's coach seats since the bench only reaches half way down your thigh). So if you use your laptop it's on your bed with all of your crap spread out around you. Again, completely unacceptable.

We ended up in two rooms because the first was extremely noisy. It faced the front street and even from the 3rd floor it sounded like every vehicle was maybe 10 feet away. The windows are double glazed so we figured that it was the metal feature below the glass that allowed such effective transmission of the sound. We requested a room on the other side of the hall and the staff were extremely helpful in getting us moved. So if possible, get an odd numbered room.

That said, the place was very clean and the beds are comfortable. But the stay overall was frustrating in the extreme. We do not like trying to live directly out of our suitcases for days on end. The fact that there was room for a chest of drawers makes us wonder why the room is as it is. Maybe they're trying to market to people who travel with a single backpack? Form appears to be much more important to them than function. I would avoid Aloft in Providence. I don't like giving 1 star reviews, but unfortunately they've earned it and I think travelers should be fore-warned.

Good experience generally. Fairly clean, great location and comfortable rooms. We had two main issues that were left unaddressed by hotel staff. We hope they get in touch after this review:

1. There was mouldy food left in our room on arrival. It was late at night when we arrived and we needed to sleep, but the space was filled with a smell of rotting food! Sure enough, the fridge had been left unclean. Made the entire room feel dirty.

2. We had paid for a city view room but on arrival were told we did not have one. This was frustrating due to the extra expense we had paid. We were not offered a refund for the amount paid nor a different room.

Generally staff were nice and free coffee in the morning. Feeling left behind as customers paying so much for a room we paid for, but did not get.

Hello AliceRxby Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your visit and appreciate your constructive criticism. First and foremost, we are deeply sorry to hear about the issue with the cleanliness of your room upon arrival. It is absolutely unacceptable that you found mouldy food in the fridge, and we understand how this could have negatively impacted your overall experience. Our housekeeping team has been informed, and we are taking immediate steps to ensure that such oversights do not recur in the future. Regarding the room type issue, we also extend our apologies for the confusion and frustration this caused. We take reservations and room preferences seriously, and it's disappointing to hear that you did not receive the city view room you had paid for. This is not indicative of our standard practices, and we will be reviewing our procedures to prevent similar incidents. We are delighted to hear that you found our staff to be nice and enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee. While we appreciate your positive comments, we understand that they do not fully make up for the inconveniences you encountered. Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us, and we hope that you will give us another opportunity to make your stay truly exceptional in the future.

Large room was a pleasant surprise! The room layout included a weird bathroom area separated by a shower curtain, but it largely worked for a family of four. Valet was extremely nice but $35 was steep. Room was well-spaced. Wallpaper was a little quirky-odd, also not having a solid wall between the bathroom area and room was a little less private. Plenty of outlets in the room was extremely thoughtful. Gym was very good, we used it multiple times throughout our one-night stay (great treadmill machine!). Location good for waterfire festival nearby.

There are a few different garages around there including Dorrance St and Garrahy. They all do allow overnight parking so no worries! If you’re there on a weekend there’s usually plenty of street parking as well!
