Very charming historic inn in the center of everything. Within walking distance to all the best shops, sites and resturaunts. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast was well stocked and fresh every morning with 24 hour coffee available. We'd love to come back!

Ashley, It was a lot of fun hosting you guys and trading stories. Kelly and I really enjoyed meeting you and hope you'll return soon. There's still a lot of Salem and Cape Ann to see. All the best! Matt & Kelly

This was our first time visiting Salem and actually staying in the town instead of at hotels in Danvers. We will never stay outside of town again. The Stepping Stone was within walking distance of everything. We were thrilled. It was a very nice experience with friendly owners. The Inn is charming and the cats are cute too! Perfect, little...

Hi Amber, Kelly and I are so happy that you didn't choose to stay in Danvers for this trip too! We had a great time chatting with you and showing you our historic home. Please visit again soon and see what else Salem has to offer. There's always something new to discover in this town. Cheers! Matt & Kelly

Had 3 nights at the beautiful b&b in the middle of our road trip. Matt and Kelly were so lovely and gave us lots of information on best places to see as we continued our travels. Breakfast was nice and we both had plenty - comfortable beds and all clean and tidy. Was lovely to meet you both. Rhonda and...

Rhonda and Rory, it was wonderful hosting you two on the North Shore portion of your journey around the Northeast. Kelly and I are so glad that you had a good time and enjoyed traveling to Boston while staying in Salem. We hope to see you two again soon. Cheers! Matt

My husband and I are seasoned world travelers. Stepping Stone Inn is the first place where we had to sign an agreement with an indemnification clause. We also had to agree not to bring food into our room. We were told the reason for this rule was because a previous guest got barbecue sauce on an item in their room....

Thanks for the review, Marianne. Please remember that the inn is also our home, so by signing the rules, you are basically agreeing not to smoke in our home and to cover any damages to your room. I highly doubt that this is the first one you've signed. Small, owner-operated inns and B&Bs can't absorb damages that way a big...

My husband, 16 yr old daughter, and I stayed here the beginning of August 2016 while spending a few days visiting Salem. The owners, Matt & Kelly, were friendly, regularly offering tips on what to see and how to get where during the continental breakfast. The house dates back to 1846, but has been nicely restored. Their cat, Youke, kept...

Hi Kathy, Thanks so much for your kind review of our inn. We're so glad you enjoyed our home, convenient location and wonderful cats, Youkie and Petey. We would love to serve a hot breakfast, but the city of Salem and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts consider us an inn and not a B&B, because we have more than 3 rooms....

This inn is centrally located on one side of Washington Square. You can walk to all the local attractions. Matt and Kelly, the hosts, are great and full of information about the town and the history of the Inn. The building is one of the landmarks of Salem and still retains its family house atmosphere. If you like staying in...

First time in a B&B and I will be looking forward to a return visit. Salem is an annual getaway for my daughter and I, this trip being the best by far. Stayed here with friends while touring in MA area. Great location in Salem and bed very comfortable. The only negative comment I would have is the breakfast. We would be used to a continental breakfast which would include hams, cheeses etc. There was none and you would sometimes have to ask for more bread etc as there never seemed to...

Veronica, We're so glad you slept well at The Stepping Stone and enjoyed your day trips around Cape Ann and Boston. We're very disappointed that you felt that your stay with us was simply "average," since we went above and beyond to accommodate you and your friends. The City Of Salem's Health Department is restrictive as to what we are...
