I went to this hotel recently with my wife and as a person who travels a lot, there are several thing that stand out about this Inn.
On the positive:
Great location - close to everything

From the Ferry to the Salem Inn, it's about a mile walk (20 minutes). Some of the sidewalks in Salem are brick or cobblestone, which make trek challenging if you're carrying or pulling luggage with you. The walk does lead you past beautiful, historic homes and the waterfront, though.
If you have your heart set on the ferry and you are concerned about carrying luggage, we recommend taking a taxi or Uber to the Inn.
Another option to travel from Boston to our Inn is to take the MBTA Rockport/Newburyport commuter train from North Station. The train depot is only a 5 minute walk (on smooth sidewalks) from our Inn.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Safe travels.
