This hotel was a disappointment. It was not far from the Riverwalk area, but the area was not the nicest. We had to walk through the underpass where many homeless people hung out. After the first night, I noticed stains on my sheets. Looked like blood stains. I had to ask three times before they changed the sheets. Housekeeping did not come by most days. We had to ask for towels and toilet paper at the front desk. We even had to take our own trash down one day. I will not return to this hotel in the future.
I brought 33 choir members to stay here on a choir tour and will absolutely be back. With rooms that slept 6 for the cost of a 4 occupancy room, the savings was a huge help for us and no one had any complaint. They loved the pool and were very comfortable sleeping 6 to a room. Bus parking and free breakfast! This is a real find. Honestly - I wouldn't walk to downtown locations after dark, but during the day is just fine and the hotel can't do anything about that. I felt completely safe while on the property.
This Comfort Inn is older and the lobby shows it. This listed as the Alamo River walk but it is across the highway , and in a sketchy part of town We walked to the River Walk Mall which is about 10 minutes away - that wouldn't be bad but you do go under the highway and thru quite a few homeless people. That being said our room was clean and fairly large. Paint is peeling of doorframe in bathroom. Breakfast was pretty standard for these "breakfast included ? rooms
+ nice room and friendly people. - In a rundown area near an overpass. Graffiti on building across the parking lot said "PIG" in 20' letters (and don't think they meant BBQ). Title misleading. Not near the Alamo or Riverwalk. Desk Clerk said to walk (15min in 91 Deg thru that neighborhood - nope). Had to drive to both places and parking not cheap or easy. Also, the hotel charged me $15 for valet parking. I ask for the valet and there isn't one. I was told to just park out front or under the overpass. $15 for me to park my own car. Give this place a miss. Stay in a hotel on the Riverwalk. Pretty much soured our San Antonio visit.
This property was nicely decorated considering its age. It is old and dated, but they’ve done a nice job of decorating and staying true to the San Antonio motif. Our room’s air didn’t work sufficiently, and I’m not sure if there was a problem or not. The tub was slippery and unsatisfactory for senior aged people who are easily prone to fall. The night light in the bathroom didn’t work. I did report these problems to the front desk clerk. I’m uncertain if she addressed them or not. She simply said, “Thank you.” The kitchen and breakfast staff were so kind and helpful. They were most pleasant. Not a bad place. Just needs a few tweaks.
Georgia Rios was present at breakfast every morning ensuring her guests had all that they needed. She was always very sweet and polite! The proximity to downtown was great, will definitely come back here!
The customer service is good, the breakfast was good, the room was way too dark, not enough lighting. If you walk to the Riverwalk, it'd not that close, there are a few homeless people under the bridge which you have to go through to get to Riverwalk. The beds are not made up but they bring clean towels.
After I booked, I read horror stories in the exaggerated reviews. It was like this hotel was set off in a rundown neighborhood alone and I would be risking my life to stay there. Is there a homeless camp nearby, yes but they weren't that close to the hotel or the parking which was fenced off even under the bridge. We went out at night and homeless were wandering a little but it was a couple blocks from the hotel. And this hotel is right in among the rest so if this one is bad because the neighborhood then they all are. Now about the facilities, the room was clean and nice. We had a great view of the Alamodome and the Tower of the Americas. The hotel was close to the alamo and riverwalk. We didn't walk over because we got to San Antonio in the morning and di all that before check in. If you book a room, there may be a charge for parking. I didn't have to because I asked maybe or because I have elite status as a Choice Rewards member ..... I don't know the reason, but I wasn't charged. The hotel was in good shape for its age. Why only a four.... Not the quality of breakfast I have come to expect from Choice Hotels. For eggs there was some kind of heated up previously frozen omelet, the sausage links were okay but not too hot. Of course, the Texas shaped waffle was fine.…
Horrible and dirty, my 3 month old got bit by bed bugs. The sheets has stains on them and seemed as if they never changed them to begin with. They offered us a new room but have yet to fumigate the room or our belongings that are in the room.
We needed a room big enough for 5 and this was perfect with the pullout couch. This is a short walk from the Riverwalk, but it is a bit cheaper than most the other hotels we looked at near the riverwalk that slept 5. It was still very nice and we would stay here again.
