The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa garners praise for its modern, welcoming atmosphere and family-friendly amenities, including a lazy river and bike rentals. While the resort's serene location near downtown is popular for events, guests have called out the high food prices and parking fees that impact the overall value. Reviews of the service are mixed, with experiences varying from highly professional to somewhat disappointing due to disorganization. The well-maintained and updated rooms are a highlight, though some visitors mention minor issues with room features.

We visited Hyatt Hill Country right as the Covid-19 virus was making its way into our communities on Mar 14 and 15. The hotel was very well prepared with hand sanitizer stations everywhere and the staff were very well prepared and extremely kind as well. The hotel was definitely not full so we were able to “ “socially distance” safely and experience all the resort had to offer. The food was outstanding at the Antlers Lodge. Best fried oysters I’ve ever had! The hotel went above and beyond to make our stay memorable even under the heightened stress that everyone must have been facing. I will definitely be back after all the virus concerns have passed and look forward to enjoying the lazy river again!

Great stay overall and we are so glad we went! I looked at other resorts in the area, but had to pick this one because the price was just so much better. The breakfast food was great and also the food and drinks by the pool. The kids loved the lazy river (was cooold, but refreshing and your body does adjust) and the slide. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was very nice and attentive. I hadn't been here in a while and had heard the rooms needed some updating. That might be true, but not that noticeable to me, at least not in our room. We got a patio room and it was very clean and comfortable. The only thing I would have changed would be to have some drinking glasses in the room and for some reason one of the beds did not have a down comforter, just extra sheeting, which really was fine because I get hot. And instead of drinking glasses we just used the Starbucks paper cups that were for the coffee. One other minor thing was that I called several times to get a bell cart sent to the room for when we were checking out, but no answer. We really didn't have a ton of stuff, though, so the kids and I just carried it. Being there Sat-Mon was nice because on Sunday there really weren't very many people and we had plenty of chairs to choose from at the pool. It saddens me though to think of how much business they are losing because of covid. But everyone wore masks, the innertubes were sanitized, there is hand sanitizer everywhere, and we felt very safe. We would go again for sure!

The Hyatt Hill Country is doing an excellent job letting folks enjoy the hotel and the surrounding areas while maintaining social distancing and sanitization. We enjoyed walking on the nature trail and hitting on the practice golf range.

We sat outside at the restaurant and enjoyed spending time outdoors. The staff all have masks and sanitize the areas.

It had been a few years since we visited the Hyatt Hill Country, so we enjoyed seeing a few additions including a surfing area and a water slide. It was nice not to have so many people there because the hotel was at reduced capacity. We also enjoyed the lazy river which is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

The fitness center is open, but only three people are currently allowed at a time. We also went for a bike ride. There aren’t too many areas to ride, so it was a quick ride around the property.

Overall we had a great time at the Hyatt Hill Country and felt safe during our trip.

Can you say disappointing? This was the most disappointing get away we have taken in a very long time.

Hotel was staffed by what seemed like mostly young 20 year olds, who were unhelpful and wanted to stand around and chat.

When checking in, we requested a room with a view. We reserved a suite and hoped for something overlooking an open area with nice relaxing view. We were placed on the 4th floor, with a view of tree tops and vultures. So much for a relaxing spot to sit and read. The vulture returned several times and wanted to perch on our balcony. So GROSS!

Dining was very limited with very few options on the menu. And NO room service or cleaning of the rooms. I understand Covid has had some changes, but this hotel offered very little, while still charging a daily resort fee of $35.00.

Room temperature was very uneven from room to room and only one thermostat. Living area very cold and bedroom very warm.

Asked for directions to different parts of the hotel on a couple of occasions, only to have them point down the hall saying the spa was down there and the gym also. Neither was true. You had to go outside for both of these facilities.

Spa services were over priced and left your body feeling as if it has been beaten. Both my husband and myself were very sore the evening of the massage and the next day feeling even more sore. We both receive massages regularly, so we know this is not normal to feel this way after. (Staff was very friendly, but therapist did not appear to know the proper technique for massages.)

We had called to the front desk to inquire about restaurants in the area, and the young girl said she would have to look them up online. We had already done that on Google but we were wanting a certain type of restaurant and thought that concierge might be able to direct us. This was not possible because they had no concierge on staff.

When we returned to our room one evening, it appeared someone had been in the room. There was a very strong smell of a possible cleaning product or aerosol of some sort, and the coffee hutch had been pulled out from the wall.
We called to inquire about this and was told they would do a lock interrogation, and let us know what they found. After an hour or so, I called back to see what they found, I was told they were working with 30 year old equipment and it would take a while to run the test. The next morning I called as we had not heard anything, and I reached the security manager, who was very kind and helpful. He came to our room, introduced himself and said he would follow through. He did, and phoned us back later with his update.

Now this might be an okay place to stay, with children, during a different time of year, and era, as their were mostly families there during our stay. However, me and my husband will search out other properties to spend our time at. Sorry Hyatt, you did not measure up to your standards on this stay at this property.

We're Hyatt Globalists and this is one of our favorite Hyatts. We’ve made this Hyatt (drinking on the lazy river/having spa day at the Windflower Spa) an annual trip every year for the past 7 years. 2020 was an exception since we weren't ready to travel that year. Our experience this year did not differ from the other years that we've stayed here. The pool and the grounds were clean and we continually saw staff around the water park that were either picking up towels, organizing tubes or power washing the side walks. The furniture in our rooms was a bit water warn but that's to be expected in a water park resort! We found that it was a pleasant surprise that the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis.

We stayed for 4 nights and this included a weekend. $400/night with taxes and fees was a bit pricey but if that's what it takes in the hospitality industry to retain a stellar staff than it's worth it. $400 doesn't go as far as it did seven years ago but times change. The front desk check-in experience, the restaurant and the spa all made us feel like valued guests. We will be back for a return trip!

The facility has a very relaxing environment. We enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs in front of the hotel as well as the chairs on the patio overlooking the courtyard and beach area of the pool. We enjoyed activities such as playing basketball, tennis, bike riding and floating in the lazy river. The pool side bar and grill provided a convenient place to grab a snack and refreshing adult beverage. Our experience here was very enjoyable and we will likely return. There are some things that the hotel need to give attention to. The exterior and interior paint is very dated and dull. The carpet is also dated. Some basic maintenance can also help, the exterior stairs near the fitness room looked like they hadn't been cleaned in two or more years (mold, stain etc.). It appeared that a simple power wash (perhaps with some type of cleaner) would have solved this problem with the stairs. Additionally the roof top of the pool side bar and grill looked like the leaves hadn't been blown off in quite some time. These two things i've mentioned are the type of things that make you question the cleanliness's of the entire facility. Nevertheless, they were exterior areas and all else seemed to be in order.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and for choosing to celebrate your birthday with us! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, including the relaxing environment and amenities such as tennis, bicycles, lazy river and more. We appreciate your feedback on the outdoor areas, and want to ensure you that we have increased our cleanliness efforts throughout the resort, however the weather and other seasonal changes make things a bit more challenging outdoors. However, our wonderful landscaping team is working hard to make everything look its best! Thanks again, and we hope you'll come back and visit us again!

Stayed here 20 years ago and had such a fabulous time and had such fond memories of a luxury resort hotel in the beautiful hill country. Our stay this time was a little different. Overall we enjoyed our 3 nights but had some hiccups upon check in. Our room wasn’t ready for 3 hrs after the 4:00 check in time and once we were finally able to get into our room (after missing our daughters 7pm birthday dinner reservations) we found that our toilet had not been cleaned from the previous guest. It was disgusting. Our first night was not a good one. The rooms really need an update. We were in the patio dbl bed room with pool and golf course views. Bathrooms really need a deep cleaning from top to bottom. Tub didn’t drain well and that’s never pleasant. For the nightly rate we paid per night, we were very disappointed and expected much more from a Hyatt resort hotel. The hotel does have plenty to do and lots of fun activities for children and families. The lazy River is nice and relaxing. The restaurants were all very good and clean. Hotel staff was AWESOME! Everyone we came into contact with was very very friendly and helpful. That was a huge plus! I was a bit irritated that there was no complimentary coffee service in the lobby in the mornings. It was $3.25 for a small cup, with only sugar and milk offered. The Starbucks across the hall in the gift shop was $4.75 for a larger cup of reg coffee and all the extras you may want for your cup of coffee. Sound silly to be rubbed the wrong way by something so trivial but when paying $470 a night I don’t think it’s too much to ask for complimentary coffee that is offered at budget hotels/motels. It made me feel nickel and dimed after forking out a great deal of money. :/

The grounds and look of hotel are very nice. The water slides, pool,, and lazy river are good for little kids (I would say 10 and under and that seems to be the main age group). Hotel room was clean, but beds were not comfortable at all. The Long Bar's food was good and bar tenders were nice but getting food was difficult. They have tables outside but we learned they will not serve you unless you are at a table inside which is first come first serve (imagine parent hovering like vultures just waiting for that open table so they can jump on it). We were told we could order to go from from a different location but they didn't tell us that the menu was different. So in the end we found seats at the bar and they let us order but our kids had to eat elsewhere because they are not allowed up at the bar (which is understandable). I believe they are lacking in communication skills with the guest. The wave rider would have been nice, but we learned you have to reserve a spot and it is an additional cost. Unfortunately we will not return to this hotel and I'm sure others have a different experience, this was just ours. If you're coming to San Antonio and looking for something like this (we really like the jw marriot hill country a lot better and will return to that hotel when we come back). We ended up canceling our last night night here due to how uncomfortable the beds were for us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We recognize that on this occasion we struggled to consistently deliver every aspect of the Hyatt Regency Hill Country experience we pride ourselves on. It has been a devastating year for the Hotel Industry and we couldn’t be more grateful that you choose to trust us with your family’s safety as you start to travel again. As an industry and a hotel, we are fully committed to rebuilding a place for families to escape to for quality time together. We greatly value your business and offer a personal apology for your less than perfect stay. As life continues to return to some form of normalcy, should your future travel plans bring you back to San Antonio, we hope you might give us another opportunity and choose to stay with us again.

We were really looking forward to our stay at this resort, but the experience was a major disappointment. Despite advertising on the resort's website that masks were a requirement in all public areas AND having a sign at the front entrance stating the same thing, there was zero mask enforcement. It was crowded, and 2/3 or more of the guests were walking around in the building with no masks. Felt like a real bait and switch, and a deceptive practice on part of Hyatt.

Other pros and cons:
Pros: Nice lazy river and water slide for kids; nice layout of the pool area to keep a distance from others
Cons: Rooms were old and in dire need of updating; beds were small (doubles not queens); no bikes available most of the time even though they advertise having bikes; minimal staff assistance around the resort; rooms were very loud at night because of hallway noise

Definitely not worth the money.

The hotel was overcrowded and understaffed. There was a 40-minute line to check in and check out. There was no ballet for a hotel that my avg rate was $500 the service was mediocre. At 10 AM there were no clean towels available at any of the designated areas around the pool. By noon there was no place to sit. The pool and water at the pool were dirty. We enjoyed the buffet, it was not crowded (only 10 minute wait). It looks like people are bringing their own breakfast and ordering pizza because of the lack of service in the hotel. We arrived Friday at 10 PM and the receptionist said there was nowhere to eat inside the property that we should order from Pizza Hut. Not really what I was looking for when I spend $2,000 for 2 nights 2 rooms. The bar was crowded and loud with drunk people, not a place to dine with my kids, the food was really bad. The market was also crowded, there was probably another 40-minute wait. My room a KING Upgraded Suite (3601) was loud. I heard people getting in and out of the hotel, plus the ice machine across the room, this room has not been renovated in way too many years. The bikes are no longer available and the green slide stairs smelled like pee, it was truly disgusting. I will not come back to this place, going to JW, La Cantera, or Lost Pines next time.
