This was a hotel suggested and booked by our travel agent of ten years. Again her judgement was immaculate in terms of the hotel location and comfort.
Location was brilliant being only five minutes from The Alamo and literally right on the Riverwalk. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. As a bonus there was an in room safe which was great. Only issue there was the sliding bathroom door does interfere with closest and safe.
Being on the eastern side of the building, our room 1425 faces a construction area, there is construction and street noise. My suggestion is perhaps have more soundproofing with the windows. To minimize street noise, a high floor is a must.
Staying on the Easter holiday, it was extremely busy. Patience is essential as the elevators are busy and full. Using the electronic key and checkout helps bypass the lobby lineups. The Fiume restaurant was completely booked during our stay!
Unless you’re a Hilton Honors member, WiFi is not free. Important to take into account when booking. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Tips:
High floor strongly recommended no matter what side you’re staying on. Cuts above much of the street noise.
Reservations at on site restaurants are almost essential on weekends as they can get very busy.
I really liked my stay and would certainly recommend the hotel.

Hilton Palacio del Rio is in the best location, right on the riverwalk, walking distance to the Alamo, River center mall, food and right next door to La Villita. We knew of the limited maid service so we requested extra towels, coffee/creamer/cups for the in room coffee maker. Room was clean and comfortable. Balcony overlooking the river was great. King bed was comfy. There were shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and soap but no extra amenities eg shower caps, lotion etc so take your own. This Hilton does not have the concierge amenities for Diamond members but they gave complimentary breakfast which was limited due to Covid. Bar hours were limited too. For this situation (Covid), hotel did their best to accommodate however just a suggestion to the hotel- have disinfectant by the elevators on all floors and not only by the lobby. Of course we all have to do our part in being safe - take your disinfectant, mask and be aware! Valet parking available also public parking down the street. Will stay here again.

We stayed in this strategically located hotel by the Riverwalk. Staff were friendly and accommodating . Virgil the Front Desk Associate recommended and assigned to us a room with a good view of the Riverwalk .Rooms were clean and you can tell they took extra steps to adhere to the protocols enforced during this pandemic . Although the hotel’s restaurants were mostly close but it’s the Riverwalk we had no problem choosing where to go for dinner . I would definitely recommend this hotel for good service .

Let me preface this by saying I travel quite a bit for business and I spend many nights in Hilton Hotel. I understand during Covid things are different.
However being a diamond level traveler with hilton in their honors program I request to have clean sheets and my bed made and my Room cleaned every day while I stay on their property at the hilton DelPlacio.
They just don't seem to be able to do this. I got here Thursday and neither Friday nor Saturday did they clean my Room.
It's very difficult to come back to a Room that you're paying an exorbitant amount of money for and find it dirty from the previous day's room service etc.
When one pays to stay in a hotel, especially a hotel of this supposed caliber they're paying to have the best of the best. It's quite obvious by the way I've been treated since I arrived here.in their rooms and in their restaurants.
Ive been spending money in their hotel and its obvious that they only care about the amount of money that I spend.
Once they've got it they care less about customer service I come to San Antonio quite often and will never stay at this property again..
(I did get a call crom a fro t desk manager as I was.posti g tnis and his exact words were "what can I do to make it better".
The answer is nothing its happened nothing will makenit better. He then said "How can I make up for it" I apprecaite that he asked but - bit isnt that YOURjob to make up for it. Not mine. Imrealy not trying to be hard - but my stay has stunk and now you want me to tell you how to fix it.....Really????

The hotel is very nice, and the staff is great. The rooms are very comfortable. It is right in the middle of the River Walk next to La Villita.
I am only giving three stars due to their overall deficient food service. For a four stars hotel, the breakfast buffet is really poor and the selection is very limited. You are better off eating breakfast locally. There is an awesome taqueria in the Villita with the best breakfast tacos. If you get a free breakfast voucher, get there before 11 am. Even though I was told that breakfast was served from 7 to 11:30 am. At 11:30 am is when they're shutting down and cleaning up, not when they receive the last guests. On the second day, I showed up at 11:20, and they told me that they were shutting down. I told them that the front desk told me that breakfast was until 11:30 am. They said I could come in and order from the menu, but they said it with a sour and unfriendly attitude. I decided to leave and go local.
The nightlife needs a serious upgrade. Two moribund bars and one restaurant that are usually empty even on Saturday nights.
Great staff, nice hotel. However, beware of the very poor food service.

The staff was friendly for the most part. Housekeeping was very professional. Be careful when ordering breakfast - the room service POC called early the next morning and attempted to talk me into more than I had ordered the night before. One of several examples of a hotel trying to monetize all the services that are usually complimentary in other places. When a hotel already has Riverwalk prices - attempting to monetize every other service is ridiculous. Not really worth the cost for the convenience of staying here.

Room was great, breakfast was horrible. all the items on the buffet were cold, even the oatmeal was cold. There were no condiments on the line to add to the oatmeal, after already passing on the cold eggs, potatoes, and bacon. Definitely staying there again, just not eating breakfast at the rivers edge next time.

Our school booked our stay at this place for the Fundamental 5 National Conference. The entrance is in the middle of San Antonio so you can't do things last minute due to the traffic. Also, the location only allows for valet parking with a charge $30 daily. The check in was pretty quick for a school conference and the front desk members didn't make a big deal about our paperwork. The elevator is not a simple press the button go to the floor, you need to select a screen and the screen will tell you which elevator to use. The rooms were spacious and beds had a good top for a comfortable night sleep. The room had a good size TV and enough outlets to charge your devices. The iron was not that good for ironing your cloths. The bathroom has the body wash, conditioner and shampoo part of the shower wall. The shower had a light water stream. In theory you can get a Starbucks and support on where and what to find on the Riverwalk. If you go to the bottom floor it connects you to all the life San Antonio's Riverwalk brings a tourist. The customer service, temperature of the room and look makes it a good stay other than the horrible vehicle access.

Our stay during the New Year's Holiday was impeccable! Considering the fact that the hotel was sold out, everything was managed like a well oiled machine. The grounds were spotless and every staff member that we encountered provided outstanding service, particularly the Front Desk Assistant Director Mr. Virgil Cissoko who went above and beyond to provide great service. We will definitely be visiting this property again in the near future.

The Riverwalk is a bit more. If you have status with Hilton, you can ask for an upgrade at no cost.I prefer the higher floors but this is my preference.
There are more places to choose from in the San Antonio area.
