Second visit to the Menger in a little over a year and we were not disappointed. Great location and the staff and rooms were wonderful. Got to stay in the older part of the hotel and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant food and staff were excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel if you want to see downtown,...

Charming hotel in the heart of SA, next to the Alamo and a short walk to the Riverwalk. Hotel staff, from the manager to cleaning service, were exceptional. Colonial Restaurant's service and food were a cut above most hotel restaurants.

The Menger is a great hotel for location to the Alamo, River Walk, restaurants, shopping and its heritage. It is comparable to the famous historic hotels in Southern California, the Mission Inn in Riverside and the Del Coronado in San Diego but on a smaller scale. The hotel is furnished with wonderful antiques and one has to have a beer...

The hotel is located in the very heart of San Antonio, near the Alamo and close to the beautiful river walk. It is a historic hotel, full of charm and with a comfortable patio and an incredible hall. Neverthelss our room was small and noisy and while we were there they were changing the carpet in the corridors and no...

Love this hotel. Would have rated excellent overall except rooms are smaller than modern hotels. Not a problem for couples. Great location beside Alamo, Starbucks, and just a short stroll to Riverwalk. It is historic and is not the same, routine, hotel experience. Great, unique shops on street level. I thought one had to stay on Riverwalk to be close...

I've lost count of how many times we've stayed at the Menger hotel over better than 30 years. I always ask for a room with 2 beds as this gives me a good chance of getting a room with a balcony overlooking the tropical pool area. Pool is huge, lots of space around it with quite a few chairs, loungers...

First and most important...before you book this hotel, make sure to call and ask about hidden charges like parking. Since when do we not disclose the entire cost of the stay? Second, this is a very old hotel and the standard rooms are like a bed and breakfast. Beautiful lobby and bar, but not the rooms.

Historic hotel with charm. Very nice. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on history of hotel and bar. Room was small but very nice and clean. Bathroom dated but nice. Shower head could have been placed higher. Very good experience.

This hotel offers a glance of what the hotels of days gone by were like. This hotel has all the modern amenities, but is decorated in the vintage Victorian decor. Standard rooms, junior suites, and suites are available. The grounds and stories they offer make this hotel an enjoyable experience.

“Rooms were extremely clean and well stocked when we arrived. However, housekeeping did not get to our room the next day until about 3:30 or 4:00 in the afternoon when we were taking a break from convention events; by then, we no longer wanted room service. We requested a few towels and we just made do. ”
