La Fonda at the Plaza always welcomes us in New Mexico style - warm, welcoming, elegant. Treated ourselves to a junior suite and it was gorgeous - spacious, comfortable, filled with original art and a beautiful painted headboard on the comfortable king bed. Fantastic views from our 5th floor balcony looking over Loretto Chapel to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We love visiting Santa Fe when it’s less busy and you can enjoy the people watching, live music and Cadillac Gold margaritas in the La Fiesta Lounge. Dined at the hotel’s gorgeous La Plazuela restaurant also – food and service were wonderful, and the 1920’s dining room is really special. The hotel is beautifully kept, and its historic elegance still shines through. Many La Fonda employees have worked there for 30 years or longer, and are so proud of their association with this special place. Hotel is directly off the Plaza, wonderful location for shopping and restaurants, even has great shops within the hotel. A highlight of our La Fonda stay was a special art filled, behind the scenes tour exploring the hotel, led by Sales Director Ed Pulsifer. The hotel’s collection of furniture and paintings assembled by Mary Colter in the 20’s is worthy of a museum, and La Fonda continues to invest in Native American arts and crafts for today’s guests to enjoy. (Recommend the docent led art tours that are available to be scheduled ahead of time by guests). Finally, we got a quick peak at the newly renovated concierge level of rooms and they are fantastic! Can’t wait to visit our favorite La Fonda on the Plaza again soon! …
This was one of my favorite hotel stays ever. There are a few issues with La Fonda, mainly that it is very busy and the public levels are crowded, but they are on point with just about everything else. Our room was very spacious, with two queen beds, a balcony, and a sitting area with fireplace. The bathroom was spacious, and though we initially had an issue with the water draining in the tub, it was resolved on request. We loved attention to detail in our room, from the beautifully-embroidered curtains to the high-quality works of art, hand-painted bedsteads, wonderful sheets, hardwood floor and wool rug, copious closed storage, and the delicious lingering scent of piñon fires. The longer we stayed, the more we noticed the little motifs, like the carved roadrunner in the armoire, all reflecting the area but applied in a subtle and tasteful manner. Maid service was excellent throughout our stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santa Fe. …
Magnificent property located conveniently downtown in the heart of Santa Fe.Easy walking access to so many amazing places/sites. La Fonda is lovely and grand, a truly authentic and historical place to stay!
The King Suite room was perfect for us. Two bathrooms was an ultimate luxury for three girls to get ready for the day. The view over looking the church was special as well as having our own balcony. We will definitely stay here again.
The hotel has it's own art collection that is spectactual. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The food was excellent and staff attentive. The location was right downtown close to wonderful restaurants and shops. Highly recommend.
Beautiful hotel full of art and history. Meals in the dining room were excellent. Food servers were precise and helpful. Location right on the Plaza. Can walk to virtually anywhere. Great experience. Would come back again when we are in the area!
We recently stayed at La Fonda to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. At every point, our special occasion was recognized by staff, and efforts were made to ensure we had a memorable stay. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Our room in the Terrace was beautiful and well appointed. I spent 25+ years as a road warrior for my job, and I share without hesitation that this was by far one of the most delightful hotel stays I have ever experienced.
La Fonda has been operating for over a hundred years yet is kept up beautifully. Wifi is fast and reliable and the hotel offers lovely in-room perks such as an espresso machine, bottled water (FREE) and a comfy robe. The meeting rooms are spacious (check out La Terraza for a lovely rooftop inside/outside experience). The hotel is a living museum with original artwork even in the guest rooms! The winning combination of walkability (main plaza location), value and just the lovely ambience means that I will return as often as possible! My wish is for this hotel to operate for another 100 years!
La Fonda IS the the heart and soul of downtown Santa Fe! Each year we bring our national conference to Santa Fe and La Fonda is our lead hotel. Our attendees absolutely love the history and charm of this amazing property! La Fonda also takes good care of their people -- which affirms just how well it is run!
