I am not sure why this has so many 4-5 star reviews. I stayed there on business for two nights in October. This hotel was just okay. Not sure if it's because I normally stay at Marriott hotels and this one paled in comparison to the others. Parking is $10 a night although it really shares a parking lot with a strip mall. Even if you don't park on the site, you will still get charged so watch out for that. Breakfast is $10 also I believe. No evening reception. There is a bar that looks pretty nice although only a few people took advantage of that. Maybe it was because I was staying mid-week. The pool also looked nice but being cooler, I did not take advantage of that. 1) The front desk clerk, although seemingly nice, was kind of curt when he spoke; 2) The room seemed a bit dated and the hallway and room smelled a little like bleach. It was weird, 3) Couldn't figure out the TV. 4) Toilet continued to run even though we are in a drought, 5) The shower - on my goodness. I think it's part of the water-saving efforts but the showerhead was one that the holes were limited to a 1-inch diameter spray. When the water came out, it actually hurt, lol. Do not let the water hit your bits. It will be painful. I had to stand to the side of the water spray in order to avoid this. It was a good price to stay though and centrally located to where I needed to be. Lots or restaurants close by - Italian, American, Japanese, etc. The front desk clerk was responsive though when my keycard was not working. He ran right up and gave me new ones. I was surprised at how fast this happened. Overall, it was an okay stay. Not my best Marriott stay but not horrible either. …
My wife and I stayed at this location on 5/22 and 5/23 and had some issues with noise from tour buses parked adjacent to our room and a few other concerns. We brought these up to the front desk and also contacted Marriott who initially responded but for some reason my return responses fell upon server problems, hence I also wrote the corporate office. Unfortunately some time had passed with no response so I posted a review on Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp indicating concern. Coincidentally, I recieved a call today from Marriott Courtyard Thousand Oaks Management,, Skylar Gustavson, who was not only a good listener but was committed to my satisfaction as a loyal Marriott patron. We spoke about our previous stay and the protocols that are now in place to prevent this type of loitering and noise after 10 pm as well as some of the procedural modifications relative to kitchen trash removal and storage. The conversation was very pleasant and he vowed to make it right and was committed to a suitable resolution which we both agreed upon. Unfortunately Mr. Gustavson's Marriott email address was not taking correspondence due to a server glitch which explained the lack of response relative to his initial contact. I am thankful for the grace extended by his listening and acknowledging fault with a committment to excellence which is truly what Marriott has always offered. I accepted the resolution and agreed to try this location in the future as with employees such as Mr. Gustavson working for the Marriott, we know that we are in good hands. Thank you Marriott and Mr. Gustavson for making this right and extending the graceful resolution that will keep us coming back.…
We stayed overnight on our way to LAX for an early flight.Good hotel , quiet , spacious clean room and a good bed. Parking and breakfast charged extra. A nice feature is the bar that’s open until 10 PM and besides a full bar also offers some snack and dinner choices. Bartended / cook Eric was great. Will return in the future
I stayed here for a week while on a work trip. Pros: good location (shops & restaurants close by), the staff were all very helpful, breakfast was very good, hot, fast and tasty. Room was spacious and clean. Cons: no housekeeping at all (though clean towels are available on request), the communal areas smelled a little unclean, pool is depressing looking & not very inviting. For a work trip it was appropriate but i would of been disappointed if I had booked it as a holiday.
Very happy with this hotel. We had a 2 king room (who even knew this was a thing?), which was great with my two kids. We loved the heated outdoor pool and hot tub - awesome. That was the best part. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. Only downside is that our tub drained slowly.
In room coffee maker, iron, microwave, and refrigerator. Limited dining downstairs and many restaurants nearby. Business area onsite. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Friendly staff. I will stay here again.
Beautiful location, helpful staff and very clean, comfortable accommodations! We asked for recommendations for dinner and went to Plata taqueria. The food was amazing. We would definitely stay here on future visits. We didn’t have time to enjoy many amenities, but everything looked wonderful!
Booked a Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa bed for a 3 night road trip to the Thousand Oaks area with main intention of visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. Chose this Courtyard rather than the "brand new" Courtyard in Agoura Hills because it was on the Ventura County side. The description for this Newbury Park property says "newly renovated" which was very apparent in the lobby. THE GOOD - Adequate parking. There was always parking available close to the hotel building. - Bathroom amenities. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion was Paul Mitchell brand which is better than those at most 3 star US hotels. The hair dryer was missing from the room, but front desk quickly arranged to have one (Andis Prostyle 1600) brought to our room. We also got shower caps from the front desk. - Clear large Samsung LCD television with easy to use remote. Lots of channels. - Free WiFi. It slowed a few times but generally was good enough. - Front desk staff welcoming. Ali checked us in and courteously informed us that we could only get a 1 King room on the ground floor (more on this in the next section). Other front desk staff attentively acknowledged us as we left and returned. - Location. Easy access off 101 freeway via Rancho Conejo Blvd and Ventu Park Rd exits. We noticed several nearby eateries including an In n Out within easy walking distance. Ralphs supermarket is a short 5 minute drive away. - Sofa. Although slightly worn and with a little tear in the seam, the sofa was functionally comfortable and useful. - When we walked into the bathroom, there was a strong smell. It was the plastic volatiles associated with the new shower curtain liner. So thumbs up for that. - Work desk on wheels. Very comfortable and clean office desk chair. I liked being able to adjust direction of desk, - There is a small counter with built-in microwave and mini-fridge. We kept bottled water in there. THE SO-SO - We booked the 1 King room because it has a sofa. We were informed at check-in that we could have a 2 Queen room on 2nd or 3rd floor but there would be no sofa. We were wary of having a 1st floor courtyard/pool-facing room because past reviews warned of excessive noise from guests at the pool. Ali said that this is usually the case on weekends. Turns out he was right about the relative quiet on weekdays, but the view out our window was pretty bad with un-manicured nandina and dirt. Our room was also close to social seating area which could have been noisy if more people were around. - The room had thin walls/ceilings/door. We could hear a lot of sound from outside. Worst was someone in an adjacent room playing music all night...maybe to help them sleep? - The room had a nice large window which could be opened for fresh outdoor air. It had a nice sheer curtain and a black-out drape (slightly stained). - The temperature of the room was well-controlled by a wall AC unit below the window. It was noisy however and turned on and off fairly frequently in maintaining temperature. Kind of wished it just kept running and humming to drown out the outside noise. - No complimentary breakfast. - There were several lights around the room, but the entryway was notably dark. THE THINGS THAT BOTHERED - The King bed was ok. Cotton poly sheets, a light quilted comforter and thin cover. There were five pillows but they were all low fill with very little loft. There was no mattress pad. The headboard was kind of too plain. On the plus side, there were nightstands on both side with electrical and USB charging ports as well as lights. However, there were mirrors on each side and one faced the bed side rather than the foot of the bed. There is a superstition about this...I blocked the mirror with a pillow. - No room safe. - No laundry bag. - No complimentary bottled water.…
Clean, renovated Courtyard. Stayed on a Sunday night for business and hotel was quiet. However if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that does not face the 101, as the road noise goes all night. My room was dark and could have used more lamps. Comfortable bed, good shower, decent TV and WiFi.
Having previously stayed here, my wife and I expected a warm welcome and that was what we found. Especially so of the front desk staff who were always offering help. The hotel is apparently mostly well run (see below), clean, conveniently located, and the rooms of reasonable size. Last time we complained about the smallness of the room and this time it was significantly larger - could it be that the property acts on its guest info system? Housekeeping us still a weak point - it is now 4 p.m. and the room was just serviced but not vacuumed (with the wrapper still in the same place on the floor). Last time we did not notice the effect of having only one elevator (serving only three floors) but this time delays in having to wait for the elevator were noticeable. The main concern was the attitude at breakfast service when, arriving fifteen minutes before the advertised closing time and finding only one style of self service coffee available, we were brusquely told "we are about to close" as an excuse for not having refilled the self service pots. Parking is easy in a large attached lots. …
