We are located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, surrounded by nature~~ birds, animals, water and mountains. Not at all depressing to me.

When you go to their website, click on the little menu square next to their name and then click on rooms and rates. When you click on online booking it then will show you a picture of every room with the rates & details of each room. They are in the $150-$160 range.
You are still a 35-40 min drive into the heart of the park where all the major trees and general hiking is located. This was as close as we could get and still have some amenities. Hope this helps. Scott
