We had cabin 8 which had a full kitchen. We were a group of six and our cabin served as the nightly gathering spot. Brook was right behind our cabin and babbling loudly! Very convenient to Shenandoah and Luray caverns. The cabins would benefit from significant updating. The carpet in one of the bedrooms had a hole in it, the stove burners were crooked (a pan would not lie level but was tilted on the burner) and the oven thermostat i think was off. But at least the kitchen was serviceable but would be so much better with updated stove/oven. Restaurant was ok but not great. Be aware check out is not til 10 am so you need to wait til then to check out (don’t know if early check out is available). ONly the first couple cabins have any meaningfully reliable wifi or internet connection. Our group would like to suggest that the owners invest in a WIFI extender/repeater in cabins 3 and 6 which would be very inexpensive and allow the rest of the cabins down the line to enjoy wifi.…
We picked Brookside Cabins for our family vacation to Luray after looking at several different lodging options and checking reviews and websites. We stayed in Cabin 6. The pictures on the website are a little outdated and the cabin had been updated a bit from what we expected, which was a pleasant surprise. It still has older furniture and basic am/fm alarm clocks, but the point of our getaway was to "disconnect" and not spend the weekend on the computer or tv so we didn't mind the lack of a television at all. If it matters to you, there is Wi-Fi available but connection was only really available outside. on the front porch. It wasn't a big deal for us. The rooms were clean and the location was quiet. The cabins are close to the roadway which I've seen others complain about, but there really isn't much traffic on the road at night so the noise did not bother us. Staff at both the gift shop and restaurant are friendly as could be. We did eat dinner at the restaurant the first night we were there and the food was all amazing. If we return to Luray in the future we will definitely stay here again.…
The cabin #1 that we stayed in was very clean and unremarkably quiet. We loved the hot tub in our room and sitting on the back deck enjoying the brook. The restaurant was very down home and the food was delicious. The people were very nice and welcoming. We will definitely be back to visit.
Room: Great location. Clean, cute, full bath, fridge. Staff friendly, willing to go extra to assist. Will for sure recommend and stay here again in future. Recommend the restaurant as well, good food, right next to cabins!
We have stayed twice for long weekends both in Cabin 8. It is roomy, yet we were just two adults and two kids (well my wife says I am the third kid). We brought food and the kitchen is plenty for a weekend. Rooms are clean and while nothing fancy, they are cozy and more than adequate. Maybe the only downside, the wifi is a bit patchy, but with LTEs iPads and phones we remained connected as needed. I forgot some items and the front desk staff were very quick to let me know and helpful to arrange shipping the items back to me. Highly recommended (of course, provided you dont crowd our plans to go back to #8 soon).
This was our first time staying at Brookside. We stayed in cabin #8. The website didn't do it justice. The interior is much nicer and updated. The cabin was very clean and had everything needed for the stay. An addition seating area in the back (lots of windows) allowed us to enjoy the beautiful brook and woods. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant there and it was very good and service was very friendly. The town of Luray was closed for the Holiday but there is greenway walk (about 1.5 miles one way) which goes thru town and along the river.
Spent our anniversary weekend there, and it was wonderful. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. The restaurant is very, very good, in spite of the current Covid-19 restrictions. If you want a relaxing getaway - or a relaxing place to go after sightseeing, this is it!! There are no TV's or telephones in the cabins, and do be warned cell service is sketchy. Smoking is allowed on the front and/or back porches. The back porch overlooks the brook and is where we spent most of our time other than in the hot tub.
My sister and I had a reservation near the beginning of May. Unfortunately with all of the COVID-19 issues going on, we had to cancel it. Brookside Cabins was so understanding to our situation and actually offered to refund our deposit. I was so impressed with their customer service and understanding of the situation. We couldn't reschedule our stay due to preexisting plans the week after we would have stayed. However, when we are able to reschedule our trip I am definitely going to try to book a reservation here. I would definitely recommend Brookside Cabins due to their customer service alone, and I'm sure the facilities are on par with it as well!
I can say enough good things about our stay. We were 7 minutes from Historic Luray and minutes away from Shenandoah Park. Brookside staff was accommodating and friendly. We were in Cabin 5. We chose a cabin without a tv and glad we did. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We did have WiFi so when we wanted to watch a movie we used that. Even though it was too cold to sit in the porches they would be nice in the summer and fall. It was a peaceful stay and we will definitely come back.
This place was so nice and clean. The area is so quiet at night,no noise at all. The little deck on the back is so nice, even though other cabins are nearby you feel so private. The brook out back is so calming and the woods are just beautiful.
