Customer service was immaculate, Kim went above and being making sure my issue was resolved quickly. I would definitely recommend this hotel as people like Kim will ensure you have a great experience.
Found the staff to be friendly and liked that the room had a refrigerator, microwave and other appliances and utensils which was a plus as we used it during our stay. Reading the guest information sheet upon check-in, I noticed that admission to visit Bishop Museum was free by showing our room key to the receptionist at Bishop Museum. The history at Bishop Museum was worth the visit. We definitely enjoyed our time at the Luana.
The staff goes out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. Any problems we had were very quickly addressed. The in-hotel cafe was very good & helpful. Having a kitchenette made our stay easier. It took us 8 minutes to walk to the beach. The bed and furniture were comfortable, though the room could use some updating.
Nice and comfortable room, perfect spot near Waikiki area. The staff was very polite and helpful. Room and bathroom very clean, just a bit too cold for me but when I asked for a blanket they provided it immediately!
Have been to Hawaii 13 times and often walked by this hotel and thought how nice it is but never stayed . This year the place we booked was a dump so after 1 night we switched to Luana since they had a great last minute deal for the week. One of the nicest places we’ve stayed in Hawaii. Beautiful hotel, great pool with sun from 11 am till sundown, nicely decorated, large room, fantastic location.
I stayed here with my husband, we stayed for a week. This was our second stay at The Luana Waikiki Hotel and Suites and enjoyed it just as much as we did in 2018. Funny, the hotel lobby still smelt the same too as in 2018, I'm not sure what that scent is but it's gorgeous and welcoming. On check-in we discovered that we were on the 3rd floor again. While there’s no view, the rooms on that floor have huge balconies (16sqm+) - enough space for a couple of deck loungers, table and chairs and to dry washing super fast! There was a bit of road noise, but this was largely drowned out by the air conditioner. The air conditioner wasn’t great, very old and noisy, but mostly did its job. The room was dated, but clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and fresh feeling. The kitchenette had everything you could possibly need plates, cutlery, a toaster, mini oven, blender, coffee machine and again everything immaculately clean. The $10 per day vouchers for the Fish Hook Café on site were an awesome bonus, allowing us to eat breakfast twice. The wait time for food both times was very long, so my suggestion is to order, then return to your room to get yourself sorted for the day. There’s currently no capacity to eat in the café itself, take outs only. The lovely staff package the food well, so it's great to take with you - we took ours with us and ate before heading up Diamond Head. Laundry facilities on site were great. $1.50 per load, and a change machine also available. The wine and cheese nights were fun. Decent beer, wine, pretzels, cheese, crackers, nuts and grapes on offer and replenished frequently. Live entertainment was provided. Was really relaxing and staff extremely welcoming. Regularly replenished iced water throughout the lobby and other places was also much appreciated. There is a DVD machine in the lobby to rent DVDs for the in-room play-station. One per day is covered in the resort fee. Location-wise it was excellent. Plenty of places to eat nearby (Subway 5mins walk) ABC Store and only a 10 minute walk into Waikiki. Overall, a decent stay for the price we paid - all of the staff seemed happy, were polite, friendly and helpful whenever needed. We'd happily stay here again.…
Good: Nice staff everywhere from frontdesk to valet parking to maintenance Beautiful furniture in lobby Location, albeit 10-15 minute walk to beach Fish Hook $10 daily coupon Water with lemon and Orange slices in lobby for guests Ability to sign out beach chairs and umbrella Nice pool with great seating Pool has a bathroom with shower BBQ area Good towels for beach and good orange towels for pool Good selection of TV channels Great Xmas Tree and wonderful Xmas piped into Pool area 3 elevators Daily Honolulu Newspaper Self service laundry room Great ice machine Nice wine and cheese mixer for guests Bad: Valet Parking Only Option at $40 per night; Rugs in hallways really need to be either shampooed or completely removed; Housekeeping not very efficient, could be better by using a real mop with water to thoroughly clean floors; Bathroom with Shower at pool needs to be cleaned daily; Ugly: The Air Conditioner Unit needs a thorough cleaning! I cleaned my room and couldn’t help but notice a black residue on the floor, particularly close to the AC. I started to wipe down the outside of the AC with Lysol wipes and the clothes were black! I then took off the front plastic panel and was horrified to see the metal slats completely covered in mold. I wiped down the panels…took 30 wipes to do it and then sprayed a microbial spray to kill any further fungus/mold. All in all the Luana is a well run Hotel but closer attention needs to focus on housekeeping…maybe routine inspections of prepared rooms to ensure an optimal level of sanitation and hygiene. And I suggest routine maintenance with the air conditioners. When the AC has a black mold sludge adhered to the cooling metal…then the AC is working very hard to cool air and just cannot… Lastly, I have great concerns with the Mold and the health hazard imposed by this amount of mold, particularly when it is continually being blown into the living space. The only reason why I stayed my duration was due to my impeccable cleaning skills and the massive amount of lysol wipes that I used while staying at the Luana and I would not have gotten a refund had I checked out early!…
My third visit to Hawaii, I stayed at Luana Waikiki for 5 nights for the Honolulu marathon. My choice was based on location relative to the race start/finish, self catering facilities and reviews. I made a good choice. Accommodation was exactly as described, spacious, clean and comfortable. My only confusion was the absence of any pots/pans to go with the stove top and cooking utensils, easily solved by purchasing my own from the local supermarket. The staff were polite and extremely helpful in answering queries, every staff member I interacted with was personable and showed enthusiasm for their work. I read a lot of criticism of the daily amenity fee prior to booking, I was aware of the fee and factored it into my expenses, but I do not see the point of having it as an extra charge as it is not avoidable; either add it to the room charge or offer it as an optional extra, rather than highlighting it as an additional fee. Many of the services included in the list covered by the amenities fees are standard inclusions in a room rate in most accommodations worldwide, the others on the list are supernumerary to my needs and I would prefer not to be forced to pay for them. I was unable to use the $50 dining credit at the cafe as there was nothing on the menu that I would consume, and the reason I stay in self catering accommodation is to self cater to my dietary needs. That is my only criticism of what was a really good place to stay.…
This is my second stay at the Luana and I just love it! The location is ideal and the views are beautiful. The staff is the friendliest, too. I came to see a play and the location is ideal for UBER or shuttles because nothing is too far away. Thank you!
Comfortable room, comfortable mattress and pillow. Our unit had a kitchenette that worked well. The decor was a little dated but that isn't important. Staff was friendly. 10 minute walk to the beach and most of Waikiki. There is a corner store across the street for anything you needed. Our room had a view of Diamondhead, sunrise, the beach, Fort Derussy Park and sunset.
