We stayed here for 4 nights in May 2023. When arriving after a long day we were unaware of where the check in desk was and plenty of staff around but none gave us eye contact or call us over. When checking in we paid our resort fees which are extortionate, and the staff member just gave us our key and room number but didn’t explain the facilities etc. we didn’t receive the dole whip sample and some of the activities were unavailable due to a wedding. I lost my water bottle and asked for another and was told it was an extra $10 which on top of the resort fee is daft. I feel there should also be tea and coffee facilities in the room for the fee we were charged. The room air conditioning unit was so noisy we couldn’t use at night. One of the lifts was out of order and at one point we were waiting 15 minutes for the lift. Staff member at checkout just asked for our room card, didn’t ask how our stay was and that was about it. I’ve travelled all over the world and this was the worst customer experience I’ve had in a hotel. Other than this the location of the hotel is good but wouldn’t stay again or recommend.

Noise was abysmal, Walls of third floor room literally shook until 11pm with sub woofer from deck. Folks running and screaming down corridor. Measured sound consistently at 85 Db in room. AC when cut in also ran at 60Db. But most importantly staff ignored concerns. Shrugged shoulders and said nothing they could do. Only good thing was water pressure in shower.

We stayed @ Queen Kapiolani Hotel for 6 nights in an Ocean view Studio. The room was a good size, with a lovely view, however the air conditioner was extremely noisy and there was no coffee, kettle or cups provided in the room. You can get a kettle and cups sent to your room if you ask @ reception. When you pay $53USD ($81AUD) as a resort fee, I think this should be included in the room. I also think the resort fee is excessive for what you receive. They do provide you with a free plastic drink bottle that you can refill with filtered water which is handy. The hotel itself is very clean, is in a good location, has some nice restaurants nearby and the Zoo and Aquarium are in walking distance, just remember there is an excessive resort fee on top of the price:(

I recently stayed at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. Diamond Head/ocean views, convenient location (walking distance to zoo and Waikiki beach), cleanliness, guest activities (lei making, hula lessons, run club, and yoga), hotel amenities (welcome juice, Dole Whip , Reusable water bottles, beach chair/towel rentals, fitness center (opened 24/7), royal art gallery), and of course staff friendliness were all major highlights of my stay. We were able to walk right outside and be at the beautiful Waikiki beach and close walking distance to many local attractions (Diamond Head Hike, Aquarium, Kaimana Beach). There was always a friendly face at the front desk or valet to assist us during out stay. We would absolutely return to the hotel in the future and recommend the hotel to others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. Although the hotel is over 50-years old, it has been refurbished and the views terrific. The included breakfast was in their open-air restaurant with views of Diamond Head, Honolulu Zoo, and the beach area. I think it is a secret for many tourists, but quite acceptable.

I’ve visited Hawaii a couple of times and stayed on the north shore and a couple places in Waikiki, but queen Kapiolani has been the best of them all, we had a bad flight in and had trouble with our rental car and just wasn’t having the best time, but when we walked into the hotel we were greeted by Athena, she helped us get checked in and was just the most friendly and really helped to melt away the bad that we had experienced on the flight on rental car and start our vacation again on a fresh note! Most everything was amazing minus 1 elevator being out of service. The room was amazing with a beautiful view of diamond head, the bed was so comfy, and the staff was all amazing, 10/10 will be staying here for all our future visits to Oahu!
