This was our third time having dinner at the Moana Surfrider. First the hotel is simply gorgeous. Drinks by the banyan tree are a must. We had dinner on the porch. The dinner and drinks were exquisite but the setting on the porch is unbelievable....More
Right in the heart of Waikiki, 5 stars all around.Excelent Service if i ever needed anything they were there and super friendly. Part ocean view room was great very nicely updated. Room and Bathroom were very clean.. Beach bar is great..

Can't comment on the Alohilani but I've been frequenting the Moana since 1979 and stayed as recently as Jan 1 for a few days. Time, and fitting into the plans of others meant I did not stay as long as I wanted. Guess this is testimony to my preference and therefore recommendation.
The Moana is an old school establishment, to be enjoyed and not rushed. In the old building the rooms are a tad small but very comfortable. This is not a slick, polished generic place. It has charm and reeks of a bygone era. Enjoy, hope these comments help🌴
