For the exorbitant price of $3500 for five nights in a classic King room, including room, tax, and mandatory valet fees I was provided with: 1. Internet Woes: The hotel's Wi-Fi was virtually nonfunctional, and T-Mobile service was intermittent and painfully slow. Internet was available by wifi or phone at many other places in the Valley, suggesting to me the Ahwahnee is simply not willing to invest what is needed to provide workable internet. Front desk suggested the workaround that we take a shuttle to the Village where internet worked. 2. Cleanliness Concerns: Unsightly stains on the carpet and cobwebs lurking in the corners. The ventilation panel was filthy and had what appeared to be a potential mold issue along an exposed edge. (See pictures.) 3. Room Condition: The upholstery on the chairs was ripped and the wood edges shredded. Grouting gaps in the tub posed a plumbing hazard. The bathroom lacked ventilation, and even flushing the toilet was a challenge due to its awkward placement. Jury-rigged outlet cover custom-cut due to its proximity to the door. (See pictures.) 4. HVAC Hassles: The HVAC controls were relics from another era and failed to work correctly. I was left with the choice of noisy, slightly cool air or nothing. According to the hotel, it could only provide either cooling or heating at any time throughout the building, and currently it was set to cool. A portable heating unit was the only alternative, but it emitted an obnoxious electrical odor and deafening noise, rendering it unusable. 5. Understaffed and Unresponsive: The hotel appeared to be severely understaffed. The concierge doubled as a porter, which explained why the concierge desk was often deserted. Getting staff to answer the phone, fulfill requests, and valet parking were guaranteed frustration. 6. Lackluster Dining: The main restaurant was a buffet marred by empty trays and poorly prepared food. See picture of elk so overcooked it was inedible. 7. Absence of Amenities: There was no gym, and the pool was closed. No room service. Simple request for change for a $10 bill was met with negative responses at the bar, sweet shop, and gift shop. In conclusion, the Ahwahnee is clearly relying on its near-monopoly status in its location to maximize profits while providing appalling service. WE enjoyed the park, but deplored the Ahwahnee.

We had an amazing stay here! Despite all of the construction- the staff were all so friendly that it made up for us now being able to use the traditional dining room. We were really bummed about that- but hope we can come back some day to experience it! Our room view was great. I was worried after reading some of the reviews, but I think people need to remember this is an old hotel and old doesn’t equal dirty. Our room was very clean and again staff was awesome!

We stayed 2 nights in September in one of the little cottages out on the lawn area. It was lovely. They are giving a $50/night food credit because there is a lot of construction going on. They are working on the chimneys, reseeding and watering the lawns, pool is undercontruction, dining room and kitchen are being renovated. We ate dinner one night in the dining room. It is a buffet. If you don't like (rare) prime rib, then skip the dining room and eat at the bar. The breakfast sandwich at the bar was good. Drinks from the bar were good too. The Ahwahnee is off on its own so longer to walk to trial heads and other places in the park. I don't know why they charge $30/day to park your car when nowhere else in the park you have to pay.

My wife and I spent part of our Honeymoon hiking in Yosemite and returned 30 years later to celebrate our anniversary. I had reserved a standard cabin, as there were no other cabins available, and specifically asked not to be booked into cottage 720 or 721 based on Trip Advisor reviews. I had been trying to get a Classic cottage on a cancellation and two days before our trip was told that one had come available and we would be put into it. When we arrived we were given 721 and told there were no Classics available. Cottage 721 is without a doubt the least desirable cottage at the Ahwahnee, followed by 720. The entrances look out into the housekeeping unit, with its attendant traffic, surrounded by a fence...hardly inviting or romantic. After expressing my dissatisfaction with the cottage the manager finally told me that Cottage 723 would be available the next day. We moved the next morning and I will say that this cottage was so much nicer than 721. Our windows looked out to the trees and it was very peaceful having coffee in the morning and a beer at night sitting on the patio. It is extremely peaceful at the Ahwahnee end of the valley compared to the area by Curry Village of Yosemite Village. There is also only Valet parking at $30 per day due to limited parking caused by a rock slide. The hotel does have some construction happening, but it had no impact on our visit, other that the main dining room being closed. We ate each night in the bar and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Each morning the bar had complimentary coffee and also served breakfast items. Due to the main dining room being closed, the hotel credits each room $50 per night, which I thought was a very nice touch. Every staff member we came into contact with was very helpful. We did a lot of hiking and one day rented bikes from the onsite concession. All in all it was a wonderful stay at this iconic hotel in one of the most beautiful valleys in the world,

My husband and I decided to get away to Yosemite for our 29th wedding anniversary. We chose the Ahwahnee hotel and we were very satisfied and delighted with our stay. The nostalgic vibe of the hotel plus the wonderful and kind personal made it a very memorable stay. Due to the renovations of the dining room, we were comped $100 for our meals which was unexpected. We had the buffet breakfast and dinner, which were both outstanding. When we first arrived, we had lunch in the bar but the menu was limited. We would’ve preferred some other options however, what we did order was good. The customer provided Wi-Fi was hit and miss. We had the pleasure of seeing 2 bucks and a doe right outside the hotel grounds. We would definitely go here again, as we really enjoyed our visit and time in Yosemite.

The Ahwahnee Hotel is such a special place within a amazing place. We all know Yosemite National park is a natural spectacle within itself. To be able to see the park from your hotel balcony is pretty amazing, as well as walk through the natural hotel surroundings. When that balcony turns dark, the sky offers yet another incredible view! 25 years ago, my wife and I decided to bring some family and friends to the Ahwahnee to be married on the wedding lawn, and for us it was a perfect choice. As we approached our 25th anniversary, it felt right to go back and celebrate at the Ahwahnee hotel. Yes there is currently construction going on at the moment, and the hotel is on the older side, but that's part of the charm. I called ahead and mentioned why we were coming, and they treated us like like royalty to make our celebration even more special. We are so thankful to Michelle at the concierge desk, who truly enhanced our experience, from special treats in our room when we arrived, to getting us a great room view, and surprising us at dinner with the perfect setting. All of this made our anniversary celebration so much more beautiful, and we will never forget it. Michelle worked with Chef Evangelina who created some chocolate covered strawberries art that was delicioso perfection! Not to mention the amazing and tasty charcuterie board. I mean, what more could we ask for? The care, and genuine desire to make our stay special speaks volumes to the Hotel customer service and within our memories. Thank you all for an awesome celebration!

This was a bucket list stay at the historic hotel. The renovation activities were a slight distraction during our stay, as the main dining room was complexly closed off and not even visible for public view. I was so disappointed because this was the reason for staying here, as the buffet was not a true reflection of the hotel. Otherwise, the room was charming with the decor from its original construction. If you’re a history buff, you’ll enjoy the interior and the surroundings of the hotel as it was in the early 1900’s. If you are planning a trip, go after the renovation, as the food is nothing to write home about…

It is an old historic hotel under construction as of our visit. We stayed in the cottages on property. The cottage was built in the 1920s. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel being located in the village was the best part of staying at this location. The hotel is showing its age in places but overall it is still beautiful. One down side in the cottage was that all the mini splits are broken so a portable ac is in your room to cool the cottage. It is noisy.

The grandeur of this hotel reflects the beginning of glamping as we know it. All the furniture and decorations reflect the era of the 1930’s and the outside has the best views of Half-Dome. I would stay just for the history!

The only good thing I can say is that the hotel surroundings are stunning. Apart from that, our stay was a very expensive disappointment. The hotel is badly run down. It is currently undergoing a construction project and the pool is closed. None of this was mentioned on the National Park Reservations site. We paid $524 for a one night stay. Breakfast is not included. We arrived lin the evening after a long drive from San Francisco. The reservation staff were unfriendly and the menu options in the bar were so limited I decided to go to bed hungry. Car parking is mandatory valet only charged at $30 to your room. We thought our stay would be a nice treat, left feeling disappointed and ripped off.
