Perfect for those who love camping outdoors but don't want the hassle of setting up a tent, Housekeeping Camp is a Yosemite favorite. Perched alongside the Merced River in the middle of the Valley, the camp features three-sided concrete structures with a canvas roofs and privacy curtains. Nearby sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing in the sun by the river. From the Housekeeping Camp, you'll have unmatched views of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome as you prepare your dinner on your campfire ring's grill. Enjoy your meal on your covered patio as you take in the sights and sounds of Yosemite..
If you’re the kind of person who thinks “it’s early/late, I should be quiet because other people might want to be sleeping”— this is not the place for you. You’re too considerate of others, and you’ll be shocked and appalled by the lack of consideration other human beings have. This place is LOUD LOUD LOUD. Even on a Wednesday night in mid-September after kids are back in school. I can’t imagine how noisy it would be on a weekend or in the summer. People are up shouting and banging stuff around and setting off car alarms and talking super loud until at least midnight…it quiets down for a few hours, and then the super early people start banging around and yelling and starting their beefy trucks around 4:30am. “Quiet hours” mean that at least people turn off their blaring music but that’s it. (And I doubt that’s enforced? Maybe it was just luck when I was there.) There’s two kinds of folks- people who enjoy the quiet of nature and who speak and act quietly to experience it. And then there’s people who think nature would be improved by boom boxes and shrieking and for some reason speaking super loudly because there’s no walls and I gotta make sure you can hear me!! If you’re the former: don’t stay here. It’s bad. And remember you share a “wall” with another tent, and your roof and other 3 walls are just vinyl. You can hear EVERYTHING from EVERYONE. But- if you don’t have a problem with noise (or if you are a noisy person), it’s charmingly rustic and feels like summer camp. The riverfront tents have lovely views, the bunk beds are more comfortable than a half-inflated air mattress at least, there’s a fire pit that you’re allowed to use for a few hours in the evenings, and while there’s no privacy whatsoever at least you can bring things to hang for visual barriers. The squirrels and jays are very bold, don’t turn your back on snacks for a minute!…

The pros-great location, staff are friendly. The cons-the glorified 'tents' are absolutely filthy. I doubt whether the accommodation has been cleaned in the past 10 years. There was a thick layer of dirt and dust on the floor and mould on the tarp covering which acted as a door. Surely this would not pass a health inspection. Our 'tent' shared a paper thin wall with a group of young men on the other side who were incredibly noisy and obnoxious. There is obviously no enforcement of the no noise after 10pm rule. If you are desperate you could perhaps tolerate one night here. Highly recommend to look elsewhere.

It’s is noisy. So noisy. My friend and I have been coming constantly for the past ten years. Normally we love it. This year we had a higher ground river unit, we’re told our reservation there was canceled via robocall, 3 days into our stay, moved into an inland spot, and found that the water never rose higher than the nights we were at our original unit. Our new unit was in the middle of a reunion where people were screaming and yelling well into the night, despite rare passive reminders of quiet hours from staff. Today we’re at the beach, surrounded by another reunion who have taken over the beach and vacated river units, and screaming and blasting their stereo. You will not find peace here anymore. We used to love Housekeeping, and love the tranquility the park normally provides, and guests used to be considerate of others, but all of that is gone and quiet hours & noise levels are not really enforced. …

Housekeeping camp has been our go to for many years, we usually go with multiple families. This year, I took my son and his friend - we had a river reservation. We were assigned a standard unit instead, and were told that most of the riverview spots were flooded. As we explored the following day, we noticed that actually there were many riverside spots, many of them open.. It rained heavily that day, and our patio was flooded.. I asked the registration staff if we could move to another unit. I provided them with numbers of units that were open -and clean - they told me that they were reserved, even though supposedly specific sites are not reserved. They also said that they would have some staff come clean up our patio, dig out a drain, etc. So, the spots they said were reserved stayed open, and although I went back multiple times, no one ever came to clean out our spot. The registration clerk was rude, and said "blame it on Arizona." Maybe the reservations go through Arizona? When I tried to find out more, she literally turned away from me and would not talk to me. I was being very polite. We had a lovely time, and I did not mention to the kids what had transpired, but for me it was disappointing that there were all these river spots open, and we were not allowed to move even though we were flooded! Poor customer service. I understand they are probably overworked, but some common courtesy and a bit of empathy would have made the difference.…

The location and the tent cabins were great, but the bathrooms were a DISASTER. The bathrooms were in disrepair, were dirty, not cleaned and stocked. Shame on Aramark for cutting corners to save a buck.

At 4 p.m. (Thursday-day before checking out) I notified Concierge that our room had not been cleaned. I was informed that room would be serviced. At 8:30 p.m., I again informed Concierge that room still had not been cleaned. Concierge stated "he had done his job" and would again notify Housekeeping Dept. During this conversation, I did not appreciate Concierge's sarcasm and cockiness. Our room eventually was cleaned by 9;20 p.m. Having to ask for this service twice is considered very poor service.

I have camped my whole life. I am frustrated that loud music is allowed all day. If you talk to staff you are informed that if it is not quiet hours there's not anything they can do. Music should not be allowed. It's always one or two sites that blares their music and then shouts over it to be heard that ruins it for all the other campers. It isn't a coincidence that the loud sites have the loud people who don't care about any of the rules. Out of 7 nights, we had 2 quiet nights. The cabins are filthy. It doesn't appear that they are ever cleaned. We were there a full week and never saw a cleaning crew between move ins and move outs. Leaves and a heavy layer of dirt covers the inside and outside floor. A bloody or poop covered napkin lay next to a trashcan the entire week I was there. We observed a young staff member simply look into the bear boxes, then walk thru the outdoor space and peek into the inside area between one family moving out and the next family moving in. They get away with it because it's Yosemite and there are few affordable options. IS ANYONE LISTENING?…

Over 40 years coming to Yosemite and my first stay at housekeeping camp. This will also be my last stay at housekeeping camp. There is absolutely no enforcing rules here. Fires at all hours of the day.. party’s all night. Dirty cabins. What is happening between 10:00 am checkout time and 4:00pm check in time? There is zero maintenance done on these cabins.

Housekeeping???? The irony in that name does not escape me. To say that the entire place needs to be cleaned is an understatement. I read the reviews before I left and prepared accordingly, I thought. This place wasn’t my first choice, but the High Sierra Camps weren’t a thing this year. So, I settled on Housekeeping, hoping that other people’s expectations and comfort levels were higher than mine and it would be fine. Everything I read was correct, this place is a train wreck. One would think that of all times in the history of Housekeeping Camp, during a pandemic, they would actually do some housekeeping and clean this joint. The tent canvases have ten years' worth of mildew, and half of the hooks were broken or missing. Our tent looked as if it hadn't been swept out ever, it was filled with dried leaves, nut shells, bird feathers, and mice droppings. The mattress on the bed was equally as filthy. The bathrooms were only restocked once a day, so soap and tissue ran out. Bathroom floors were filthy like they were never mopped. There was absolutely no oversight in the campground, so quiet hours are a joke. If you are planning to sleep, wake up early, and hike, then this is not the place for you. Loud parties every night into the early mornings. Forest fires are burning out of control in the park, and Housekeeping allows campfires???? That's fine if you have responsible campers; not fine when I see campfires so high the flames are licking the trees. Badly done Aramark.…
