This hotel preserves an early 20th century feeling. It may not have all modern amenities (WiFi, en suite bathroom, ...). It breathes past grandeur, in setting, piano bar, ... Incomparable, number one atmosphere stay choice in the park.

Stayed here for 2 nights and really liked the location in the wawona grove. The only issue with the location is the difficulty of accessibility from the Yosemite Valley for a non-driver like me. The property is classy and sophisticated, housing a very nice (and expensive) Italian restaurant. The rooms are small and clean. It has a big lawn and...

If you want all of the mod cons then this is not for you. We opted for a room with a bathroom which we found suited out needs. No tv or Wi-Fi but you could get Wi-Fi in the sun room - if you wanted to spend time looking at a screen instead of the lovely surroundings. It is a...

It's good to know what you're getting with this hotel. If it wasn't at Yosemite, I'd probably choose not to stay there. But if you are the type who appreciates history and can take the time to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere--you just might love it. The rooms are plain, not air-conditioned, and a little noisy. But the place...

Excellent place. Quite away from bustle of Yosemite village area. 45 minutes spectacular drive in fact. Peaceful beautiful tranquil. Lovely helpful staff. Good restaurant and singing Waltzing Matilda with a group around the piano was a treat for a solo Aussie. Room on front verandah with fountain in front was beautiful. Not having an en suite made the run around...

Stayed at the Big Trees Lodge (aka the Wawona before they changed the name) and had a great time. Arrived the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the snow started 5 minutes after we checked in. Got in a great hike and came back to the hotel in time for happy hour and piano entertainment sitting by a roaring fire. Very comfy....

We hired Starlight cottage, for a weekend trip to Yosemite for a group of four. Fantastic location, great facilities, and a very good atmosphere on the camp. The restaurant serves excellent food and only 20 min drive from the park

First of all a little advice for visiting Yosemite National Park. I would suggest booking your accommodation well in advance as all indications are that they fill up early in the season, even for September/October. Also if coming into the Park from the East ensure that Tioga Pass is still open as this was closed by the end of October....

Hello Whiskers51, I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us at the Big Trees Lodge. I appreciate your comments and I will share them with my staff so we can make the necessary improvements. Wifi has been a challenge for our facility because of our location and we are looking for options to improve the speed and bandwidth so...

Gorgeous vintage hotel! I would rate it about a 3 or 4 star due to the privacy (thin walls) and having a shared bathroom but the historical feel and look was something I loved and would go back to for sure. Breakfast was good but very expensive as was the dinner. Also, the drive to Yosemite is quite some distance...

Imagine spending a wonderful day hiking Vernal Falls in Yosemite, the fall colors, the clear water. A long day is followed by a one hour drive to Big Trees Lodge. The checkin, though quick, was with a lady that kept asking for your patience with a smile since your basic inquiries about things like wifi, breakfast seemed to be too...
