I've done the 5-day guided loop twice and it is the best trek ever. You don't have to worry about meals or lugging a sleeping bag or tent. It's "glamping" -- glamorous camping. You bring a "day pack" (with a hip belt) for a change...More

My wife and I spent 4 days hiking from Tuolumne Meadows to these three camps, some of the most beautiful trails we have hiked. Each day was a good day hike, 8 to 10 miles, with quite a bit of elevation change. We just took...More

Great hiking trip. Loved all the info that the ranger had. 5 days, tuolomne, sunrise, 2 days at Merced Camp, Volgasang. Blankets, comforter, and pillow were provided. Definitely pack a sleep sack. The food was amazing, the lunch they give you has enough food, so...More

          Hotel description
Yosemite High Sierra Camps have been a popular destination in Yosemite National Park since they were first established. Because of the demand, we’ve created a lottery system for reservations. Applications are accepted in September and October for the following year. We email winners in the spring.

I have not yet won the lottery for the whole loop but there are single nights in Glen Aylin available this spring. Is it worth it to trek in for one night? I would want to hike down to Waterwheel Falls before hiking back.

We have a 7 and 10 year old and have applied for the guided trip. They are good hikers but don't like to carry anything heavy. Is the trip kid friendly? Does everyone hike together or does the group split up if there are slower/faster hikers? Trying to get a feel for whether or not this is a good choice for kids.

Not sure about the guided trips, if there are more than one family per guide. Pretty sure everyone stays together though.
