This may seem an odd review, but it's honest! If I was awarding a rating for the building alone it would be five stars. Beautiful building, lovely lobby area, rooftop bar and restaurant are excellent. However...... It is NOT in town. It's about 600m away in an area that makes the building stick out like a sore thumb. It doesn't fit. The first time into town a taxi bumbled us there by going through an old derelict airport. It's just not walkable at night for a couple as there is no streetlights and the roads are naff. That said, there is an electric shuttle bus we used which picked us up and dropped us off on a different occasion, so not all bad. Safe in the room would not work and took three people to fix it. Then they gave me PIN which I HAD to use, which prompted me to keep all my money and passports with me. I don't see that as acceptable. When I checked out, they kept me waiting quite a while so the could "check the room". In summary, this is a nice hotel but it's in the wrong place. If I came back, I'd definitely stay in town where I'm sure they would be more in tune with the local vibe.

This was under £10 per night. Perfect it wasn’t. A bit ramshackle in parts. The bed is good but the furnishings older and unloved as was the bathroom. The shower was hot but not too powerful. The breakfast was good enough and the staff were helpful and pleasant but I got the best help at the tourist office. For the money you can’t complain but not boutique.

Very attentive staff, though more on this later. First night, stayed in a regular double. Room size was big with a lot of space. Comfortable. Second night, we were moved to the room with an outdoor patio, which gave us fantastic views, though soon to be obstructed by new construction. This room however was small and cramped. Breakfast in the morning was good, with fruits, coffee, tea, juice, fried rice, and your choice of fried eggs, scrambled eggs, pancake, chicken wings, and bacon omelette (though they were often out of bacon). My biggest gripe is, on our first morning, I had asked the attentive attendant if he could direct us to the cheapest shop renting motorbikes. The guy said the hotel rented motorbikes and that he can have one ready for me in 5 minutes. Of course, I took this to mean that since we stayed in the hotel and since the hotel had motorbikes for rent, we'd be getting a great deal. Not the case. For a half day (until 8 pm), the cost was 80,000 kip; a full day (24 hours) was 100,000 kip. Needless to say, on our final night in Vang Vieng my wife and I walked through an area where we had not been to before, and lo and behold!, motorbikes were being rented at 2 different shops there for the price of 70,000 kip for a full 24 hours and 40,000 kip for a half day. I am beginning to wonder if the hotel attendant called one of these places for us and pocketed the difference. For anyone wanting to rent a motorbike, the rental we found was by the laundromat (you can find this by googling laundromat, though don't use the laundromat). Bed runner and decorative pillow had a smell to it, which is to say they're not washed often. Motorbike parking in front lobby of hotel.

Staff here is amazing -- a bunch of warmhearted, kind, helpful young people from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Lao (very international!). They'll help you with whatever you need and make you feel so welcome. The room we were given had its own balcony and nice views of the mountains that surround Vang Vieng (though the electrical wires across the view make photos less than amazing). Apart from some noisy guests on the shared balcony, the place was pretty quiet. The room itself is really good -- everything in the bathroom works perfectly, the little refrigerator is convenient and the AC is reliable. Plenty of room for two people, with some nice storage. The room was clean when we moved in, and the staff offered to clean each day, but we had them clean after we'd been here two days. Cleaning included all-new toiletries, which was nice -- shower cap, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, ear cleaning buds, and all clean linens. Breakfast is really good -- a choice of eggs in different styles, pancakes or chicken. I can't eat any of that, but the selection of fruit, plus baguettes, bread and cornflakes with milk make for a really good breakfast. Tea and coffee, of course. Fellow guests were very pleased with the breakfast, and the way tables are arranged makes it possible to sit and share with other guests. Very sociable and fun. We had our laundry done here and it came back nice and fresh, though not ironed. Free drinking water for refiling your bottle also available. The location is just a short walk from where the buses drop their passengers, and it's convenient for restaurants and the travel agents that arrange activities. Night market is also very close by. I recommend this hotel to anyone who'd like a nice clean room in a friendly hotel.

The owner of the hotel came in to our room drunk and told very uncomfortable things. Every night all the staff get drunk in the entrance of the hotel. The room very small, but ok. Not recommended for girls/couples !

We got lost looking for this hotel, our driver brought us all the way to the river thinking we were on holiday. The hotel is on the main road just close enough to the venue of the training program we were running. The receptionist gladly gave in to our request to stay in the ground floor. We stayed from Sunday to Friday..and it became like home.
