Stayed here for a week and absolutely LOVED it! The people were fabulous! Very friendly and helpful. I got sick while I was there, and the staff were very attentive and caring and did all the could to help me feel better. They truly went above and beyond. The rooms are very comfortable and perfectly clean and well-cared for. I...

I loved the staff, and especially Auxiliadora who manages the place as a co-owner with her brother (I think I called her Maria when I was there because I couldn't pronounce her name...sorry). She was really terrific and went above and beyond to help this non-Spanish speaking Gringo, so thanks for that. I didn't have a reservation so I think...

On a recent flight to Nicaragua, I was chatting with a fellow and mentioned that in about ten days that I would be in Matagalpa. He said that his brother and sister had a hotel there, told me a little about it, and introduced me to his brother who was also on this flight. So about ten days later when...

This place was just "okay" I thought. The staff was nice enough though. It is close to the grocery store though, walking distance is like 1 minute away. Showers were inconsistent with the temperature of water, no place to put your stuff down anywhere in the bathroom, the bedding was very sub par and the bedding comes undone from the bed...

Another great little gem, close to the cathedral square, clean, good beds, tv channels a plenty and hot water showers. The staff are eager to please, and breakfasts come with lots of fruit. We will return.

I stayed at two hotels during my time in Matagalpa -- La Buena Onda and La Estancia de Don Roberto. La Estancia was definitely the better choice for my needs. The hotel itself was full on the night that needed, so they offered me a fully furnished apartment across the street for $40/night. First of all, they let me check...

We have stayed at this hotel twice, once in January 2012 and once in December 2013. Both stays were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean and breakfast was good. We felt safe and secure, with the doors being locked later in the evening. This is a...

We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who spoke English which we were grateful as my Spanish is very limited. He made us a coffee and we had a chat before showing us some rooms. He runs it with his sister who also speaks perfect English and she had lived in Texas for seven years. We had a choice of...

This hotel stands out as a great option for travelers in Matagalpa. My wife and I spent two nights here. What I liked about it was that the staff was very friendly and always smiling, and obviously do an outstanding job managing the place. The rooms were notably clean and large, with A/C, hot water with great pressure, and great...
