My wife and I spent about $18,000 for a 10-day Iceland adventure with Nat’l Geographic. Our guides assured us that our accommodations were the best Iceland had to offer. Being in remote areas, most of our hotels, such as Fosshotel Skaftafell were situated in hamlets. For Icelanders, these hotels associated with tourist/hiking sites were above expectations. Compared to the U.S....

This hotel is in a remote area of Iceland. It's true that it is basic rather than luxury accommodation but in our view, that is what is to be expected in a remote area. My daughter left her coat behind and the receptionist Inge (who spoke fantastic English) could not have been more helpful in locating it and then coming...

So, arrived after a long drive from Skogar and this was the "superior" accomodation provided by "Nordic Visitor", the tour company who arranged it. Checked in, room was seriously basic, twin beds, rackety furniture, gideons bibles... Motel 1960. Wife went to restaurant reception and asked if we could have a drink... Caused some concern... Bar occupied with "special group", "maybe...

We stayed in this hotel one night during our tour around Iceland. It was a sudden pick, a kind of safe house, due to the weather conditions. Room with bathroom was OK. I would say the hotel is overpriced, may be due to the lack of other hotels in that area.

Hotel is in an outstanding location but does not live up to its surroundings. Rooms are very basic and reasonably clean. Single beds of only 2ft 6inches wide do not lend themselves to a comfortable night's sleep. The food is extremely expensive and not very good. Don't eat there! There is a transport cafe across the road which is cheaper...

When we left Jökulsárlón the first day of a two-day journey, it was bitterly cold, windy and pouring rain. More importantly, it was near midnight and painfully obvious we would need accommodations overnight in order to return the glacial lakes the next morning. Along the ring road, almost every bed and breakfast and guest house was occupied. We were starting...

This hotel is in a great location however the hotel itself is a little disappointing. The room is very dated, and had a small tv with poor reception and not many channels. There was no free wifi, despite this being very common in Iceland. It is over-priced for what you get.

This was our second stay at his hotel. This time we were housed in the main building. The room was quite large with comfortable beds. The room was clean but unfortunately is now due for refurbishment, it all looked a bit 1970s with cheap furniture and dated carpet. breakfast was served in a pleasant large dining room. There was plenty...

Since this large, group tour oriented hotel is at the foot of the glacier it is in a great location and about the only option in the area. But it is large and very tour group oriented. We had a room in the building across the back of the property so were somewhat isolated from the masses. Prices in the...

We stayed here as part of a trip booked in advance by our ravel agency, so I have no real idea if it was an expensive stay or not. But it better not be. The hallways smelled 'old' and funny, and - worse - so did the rooms, also after a thorough airing-out. Even our kids mentioned the smell, and...
