I would describe the MacKensie Country Inn as just that. A country inn. It felt a little old-fashioned and 'quaint.' I liked it. It had a certain comfort to it. Our room was very spacious and clean, but dated. We had a lovely view from our room onto the beautiful grounds. We stayed here while on a coach tour, and...

After roughing it for 3 days, it was bliss to sleep in a clean bed and a hot shower and just to relax, the staff where very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Even looked after the security of the trailer with the motor bikes on.

We recently stayed at the Mackenzie Country Inn. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful in arranging a tour for us. There is lots of free parking. Those were the positives. It had more negatives than positives. The hotel is very dated and the wifi is limited. The buffet closed earlier than advertised and we were made to eat...

Carpet and fittings havn't been changed for over 4o years - very musty. one of the most expensive and disappointing stays in our 2 weeks in the South island. Terrible dated buffet cater to large asian tour groups. Dirty Crockery - old chipped fittings in bathroom - worth $100- per night - paid 3 and a half times that! -...

We could not find any place close to Mt Cook so this hotel was our only option, it is very old and out dated, remind me of Grand Ma house, but clean. The mattress and pillows and sheets need to be updated

I stayed in rooms at the tail end of the block. It is next to the common room where we had the entire room to ourselves, playing Monopoly. Wifi was down during my stay. The ensuite room is big but toilet is relatively small. Suitable for family with kids.

Room was excellent, good restaurant. Pleasant staff. However nothing really to do in the area so good that it was only a one night stop. They do cater for business conferences so you might find it rather crowded.

Stayed one night as part of our New Zealand tour enroute to Christchurch. It's an old fashioned two storey structure. Rooms are large with old radio sets still installed. Hot water available only for a limited time only. No aircon. Buffet dinner and breakfast provided was good. Be aware that there are no shops or stores nearby so stock up...

Our visit to Mackenzie was like going on wintersport. Beautiful weather. Great views on snowy mountains. The hotel is OK. Big rooms with all facilities, including free WiFi. Nice staff. Good beds. The restaurant dinner buffet is tasty and worth the price.
