Was worried about staying here after reading the reviews, but I guess there was a change of ownership and a completely new staff. Found everything to be just fine, friendly, and well-managed. No key deposit, plenty of Wi-Fi, reasonably quiet, etc. The in-town location is a must, as the center of Wanaka is so lively. Just a 3min walk to... More

This was not our first choice of accommodation but at least we had a bed. Our dorm was extremely cramped, on the top bunk you had to remember not to sit up fast or you would bash your head on the ceiling. Beds were shakey and there was virtually no space to put bags as there were some very awkwardly... More

To start with, this is not homely! There are far too may people for that. It's too small for the amount of people here. Kitchen is small, and there NO OVEN! bought two pizzas without checking and I had to chuck them. At capacity it can't fit everyone in the common area and there's several long stays so the atmosphere... More

If everything else is full and you really need somewhere to stay, this place will be OK for a night. Conveniently located close to the shops, bars and the lake front, this is its best feature, and shouldn't be under-rated. You are literally 6 minutes walk from the centre of action, and in the morning the view across town to... More

The owner was very nice and answered any questions we had. Rooms were clean and so was the kitchen. The kitchen had many tools that most kitchens don't have. Nice relaxing lounge and also a great yard. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the mixed shared bathroom. Wish there was a separate bathroom for men and... More

I spend just few nights on this hostel. It's a good place, pretty clean for a backpacker. The rooms are small enought but there is a very big garden, a confy living room. The owner is very friendly and helpfull. Well situed near to the city center. You have free wifi but not unlimited.

Split right down the middle with this one. It's a relatively clean hostel with a very nice view and the owner was super helpful. Everyone else staying there was really cool and friendly. Their were a lot of long termers and woofers though who, while very welcoming, were a little too comfortable with being noisy all night and leaving their... More

I have nothing bad to say about this place! The staff were really friendly, the location was great, the common area was cozy, and the place had wonderful vibes. I think this is my favorite hostel in New Zealand thus far.

The rooms were really big. Enough space in the kitchen, a TV room, 500mb free wifi, really clean, bathroom nearby the room, comfortable beds. All in all worth the money. Just one little thing wasn't correct, we booked a 4-dorm bedroom and got in a 6-dorm bedroom. But we didn't complain about that.

I lived in Mountain View for 2 and a half months during the winter. A small hostel with long term dorms out the back, it was an awesome place to stay- friendly and fun. Clean, accomodating and the woofers were great. Will definitely be back next winter!
