I whisked my girlfriend down to Wanaka for a surprise weekend of fine quisine and skiing on Cardrona, the ultimate aim being to pop the big question. I wanted somewhere comfortable, well located, reasonably priced and preferably with a dash of romance and privacy. As it turned out, the Stonehouse proved to be the most perfect choice. Anna and Jaime,...

We spent a couple of nights here in November on our honeymoon trip. We were greeted by Jamie and given a tour of the place on the way to being shown to our room. It was gorgeous. Big comfy bed, nice and cosy, lovely balcony for breakfast in the morning, quiet surroundings. Our breakfast choices were great, and the fresh...

I had a lovely few days at the Stonehouse. It was down a lovely quiet street, just a short walk from the lake. The house was beautiful with spacious, comfortable and romantic rooms. The hosts could not have been more helpful or friendly, and the breakfasts were delicious. There was even a hot tub and complimentary drinks to enjoy in...

When my wife and I arrived at the Wanaka Stonehouse we knew immediately we were in for a treat. The owners greeted us upon arrival, toured the property and set us in a beautiful and quiet upstairs room. The setting is extremely quaint and is the perfect location to relax, unwind, and feel the comforts of home while traveling. The...

we spent a great week at Wanaka Stonehouse. the house is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, breakfast was scrumptious and Anna & Jamie went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible (including loading our skis onto the car every morning and supplying us with endless scones!) the log fire was lovely in...

It was by far the best place we stayed while on the South Island. It was a very quaint B&B done in a Tudor style with a jacuzzi and a beautiful little garden to sit in and relax and the breakfast was great. It was quite a romatic little spot which was perfect since we were on our honeymoon. The...

This was the nicest property we stayed at during our two-week tour of the North and South Islands. The building with the B&B is separate from the cottage where the hosts live, and has four rooms. Our friends stayed in one of the three upstairs bedrooms and we stayed in the one downstairs. There is a lounge upstairs for the...

Despite the fantastic photos on this property's website, it is neither 'luxury' or 'boutique. Our first disappointment came when we realised that not only was the property in suburbia but it was not on the lake as indicated by its site map. It left a nasty first impression and we felt as if we had been conned. The entrance to...

We are sorry that the guest only awarded 3 of 5 stars and was disappointed with her stay. We do not claim to be located directly on the lake; our website states that we are on a "residential cul de sac", "conveniently close" to the lake. We are pleased that the guest liked her room, and sorry that she found...

Wow. That’s the first impression on walking into and getting a tour of this lodge, and the first impression doesn’t change. The building was constructed in 1991, but both inside and out it looks older, in a very good way. Beautiful gardens outside, complemented by a hot tub and sauna, only hint at what awaits inside. The lodge is a...

I’ll start off by saying that my husband and I are extremely seasoned travelers and have stayed in many fine hotels, resorts and lodges. The Wanaka Stonehouse was our favorite place to stay during our 3 week vacation in New Zealand and Australia, and is definitely on our list of most memorable places to stay during any of our travels....
