We stayed overnight here and were impressed with the huge number of rooms all furnished with antiques or slightly distressed furniture. All the rooms we saw were furnished with comfortable but carefully chosen materials and fabrics. Our bedroom was very comfortable with plenty of hot water, towels and toiletries. It was quite hard to find along corridors, but this allowed...

We were attracted by the prospect of a good meal on our way south but arrived on a Monday when the restaurant was closed. There was nothing else open in the village of Cavanac. Even the Bar-Tabac was closed. "An air of desolation", as remarked by David H applies to the village on a Monday evening! The entrance to our...

Chateau de Cavanac is an interesting old chateau, and as we'd had a pleasant and relaxing stay last year, we decided to end our touring holiday here. The rooms are comfortable, and each is different. There is a pool and the restaurant courtyard is a lovely setting for a candlelit meal. The airport is 20 mins away by car. We...

We chose this hotel as an overnight stop between Bordeaux and Colliourre. What a great choice, While the rooms and public areas are somewhat tired, the restaurant is simply unbelievably good, The fixed price menu has a wonderful choice of meat and fish dishes with excellent local wines. If you are in the area and love food, you must g...

The restaurant and food are "to die for" with a set meal for €45 which includes as much wine from the owners vineyard as you can drink! The choice of food is wide, beautifully prepared and presented. If you are flying into Carcassonne you need to be aware that the restaurant is closed on Mondays. The bedrooms are large and...

We stayed for 3 nights while visiting Carcassonne. The hotel was good with decent size rooms. Breakfast was not included and at 12.50 euros was not cheap although there was a fairly good choice. We also had dinner one evening in their restaurant which was excellent. The main downside was the distance from the town. We were expecting 1.5 miles...

We'd heard good reports on this restaurant so thought we would try it out. Booking was easy. We arrived about 7.40pm and were met by a helpful lady who showed us to our table. We then had to wait a good half an hour before they came to take our order. Asked twice if we could order but they weren't...

We arrived on Sunday afternoon, first the receptionist tried to give us the room in mezzanine with very low ceiling so that ceiling beams were 5 feet (150 cm) from the floor and just in front of your forehead. Imagine going to the bathroom at night when you forgot about it:(( We asked for the other room and they gave...

The facilities are uniquely historical, yet comfortable in every way. The breakfast was outstanding. We swam in the crystal clear perfect pool, and relaxed away from the bustle of Carcassonne, which is an easy short drive away.

This is more a restaurant with rooms than a Chateau Hotel. The Rooms are good but not great! The restaurant however is excellent! Foie Gras and Figs - YUM YUM!! Book dinner but don't each much before, take your drinking shoes to as great wine included - LOVE this region!
