Detailed Reviews
Lovely hotel build in 1750 in stone. Very elegantly decorated with Antiques, you definitely are in the south of France. You can share great moment on the terrace or the AC in your room. The room we were in was very spacious, loved the decoration. And all the services such a fridge (great when the temp outside is 40). The breakfast is simple but proposed with great products. Vincent , the owner, will cherish you as his best friends !!

We came, we stayed, we were pampered and loved it!. However far you come it will be worth the trip. From preprandial drinks in the cool of the cave to beers and champagne high up on the terrace, delicious breakfasts all prepared by Babette with her amazing attention to detail; comfortable and delightfully decorated bedrooms complete the picture. Set in an interesting and lively town near to the Canal du Midi this is a gem. We liked it so much we're going back in September. Virginia E Swansea

Passing through the Languedoc, we were fortunate enough to have come across this luxury bed and breakfast in Pezenas near Beziers. Tracy and Rob make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in to this stunning and beautifully refurbished hotel particulier. Nothing can be faulted about this accommodation from the feeling of old France to the quality of the modern fittings and the excellence of Tracy's cooking. A must-stay place!

Well, we never got to this hotel because they cancelled our reservation without notice . . . and we only found out a few hours before we were supposed to arrive, when we called to say we would be arriving a little late.
Based on great reviews on Trip Advisor we called this hotel months in advance (Februray?) to reserve for a night in July. I spoke with an English man who identified himself as the owner - Robert. We discussed each room and I selected the one desired. He said he would email a confirmation. A few weeks later I called to check as no email had been received. He shuffled around and finally said "oh yes, we have your reservation." When I mentioned the room we had selected, he said no, that room was no longer available, but another better room was so all was well. OK. Again we asked for email confirm and never got it. I called again and he said all was well, that the reservation was in place, not to worry. He said he would email us from a different email account because maybe we were not getting the emails from the hotel account. Again, no paper confirmation. Finally, about two weeks before our trip, I realized I had no email confirm so I called AGAIN. Again I was told not to worry, they had the reservation and all was in order.
When our drive through the countryside to the hotel, the day of our arrival, was taking longer than expected, I had an intuition that we should call before getting there. In fact, they had NO reservation for us, and no rooms available. The woman - Babette - claimed that an email had been sent to us and she even "read from it." Well, since NO EMAIL from this hotel had ever been received by us, and they knew this, emailing a cancellation was not a very good way of communicating, if an email had ever been sent at all. Finally, she claimed the email had been sent on June 1 - but my final call to confirm the reservation was subsequent to that, and I was told all was in order.
Bottom line . . . something fishy is going on with the management of this hotel and you should not rely on their representations. They said they were in some kind of a transition . . . how long it will take for them to sort out their problems is anyone's guess. But, until they do, don't count on any aspect of your reservation - that you have one at all, or, if you do, that you will have the room you requested.

This small B&B in the heart of Pezanas is a lovely retreat. Innkeeper Babette couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. The rooms in this charming 17th C property are built around a lovely courtyard. The main room upstairs is filled with world-class art--original oils from the owner's friends. Our room was beautifully decorated without being fussy. We arrived just in time for a glass of wine and delicious cheese from the region. Wish we'd had more time to spend. Will definitely return. Pezanas is one of those storybook villages in Languedoc, yet it is very much a working village with lots of energy.

This trip started with a comment from my wife ‘why don’t we do anything like go to France and drink coffee in sidewalk cafes?’
That led to a Google search which gave Hotel de Vigniamont top spot, so I checked and booked. I was amazed at what was written on Trip Advisor and, to be honest, by the price (reasonable) so left home expecting something less than ‘what was on the box’.
I couldn’t have been further off the mark. If anything its impossible to explain in words how phenomenal the experience has been.
The hotel is technically a chambre d’hote, a B&B, but in most cultures these days I think we call them boutique hotels. It has five rooms, of different sizes, from regular double rooms on the ground floor to the Count Vigniamont Grand Suite, where we had the pleasure of staying, on the top floor. It has a very pleasant courtyard at the bottom, the middle is the lounge/dining area and the top two suites and a roof terrace.
I wondered about the luxury bit – I’ve stayed at the One and Only and know what is meant by modern luxury – but this is a perfect mix of top quality items, finishes and a luxury that can only be provided by a sense of tradition and history that this place has in spades. For example, the windows in our suite are all antique glass, the original from the day it was built, and they try not to over wash them for fear of putting a finger through a weak spot or bubble in the glass! Therefore the ‘de-dirting’ is done with the most feather of dusters and gentle brushes with micro-fibre clothes!
You are surrounded by a time gone by, good artworks, treasures from around the world and it all leads towards a truly addictive feeling of inner peace; that everything is well with the world. I remember one day saying to my wife that I had never seen her laugh so much, and it was true.
Breakfast is a spread of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, baguette, croissants meats, chesses and preserves. All with juice, pots of coffee, tea or chocolate. You tend to get up promising not to eat til dinner, but that never lasts!
Then the day begins..
Our hosts, Babette and Phillipe and gracious, helpful and charming. And as I write that I feel I have done them an injustice because they are so much more than that. On our arrival we (tourists, I know) got lost in the middle of Pezenas and managed to get a local restaurant worker to find the number for us. On hearing our predicament Babette came hurtling into the square on her pedal bike and escorted us around to the hotel! It set the note for a person who never found anything too much trouble. Every evening was ‘wine tasting’ at 7, she would bring out a few bottles of local wine, some home made snacks and we would sit and chat about our day, she would recommend places for the next and plan out evenings attack on the local restaurants, of which there are a good number, and I’ll do quick reviews elsewhere on TA.
Phillpe is the perfect gentleman, a bit too good looking in my opinion (my wife would spend hours staring doe eyed at him!) and is the perfect foil for her bubbly personality, he, IMHO, is the rock that ensures the private Maison Bruin keeps on running when Babette spends hours and hours looking after guests! And on top of that, the full time fire fighter manages to socialize, help with things like our rented bikes, give great tips on the region and do all the ‘man’ things around the hotel.
We planned to stay for a week but when the time came to leave we simply couldn’t do it, so extended by a few days. I know others have said, and it’s a bit hard to believe, but its like staying with your best friends that you haven’t seen for years, and how they make everyone feel like that is beyond me, but they did it for us and seem to manage to do if for virtually everyone.
I don’t want to ramble on, as I really want this to be read and for you to believe how special this place is and add it to your itinerary – although that is a double edged sword, because if everyone does read the reviews and decides to visit then we may never get a vacancy – and I’m pretty much sure everyone leaves promising their souls that they will return at the earliest convenience.
Another thing, and I promise the last, is that because of the type of place it seems to attract a type of traveler, and in our ten days we have met the most special people from around the globe who have made the stay even more enjoyable. To our dear new friends from Seattle, I agree, an annual reunion at the Hotel de Vigniamont is a must!

Another great, but this time very brief stay. This was our second visit to the Hotel Vigniamont and it was exactly as we remember it, great room with a very comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast and all set in a wonderfully restored hôtel particulier in the very centre of Pézenas. Parking is available right outside the door and in the event that this is full, there is a car park behind the school opposite. The last time we visited it was mid winter and the house was still warm and cosy – our most recent visit was in late April and this time we enjoyed the roof terrace which is a fantastic sun trap.
Babette and her husband are charming hosts and the evening wine tasting is an opportunity to not only to have a glass of wine and homemade canapé or five, but also to chat to your hosts and other guests. Small touches such as a bottle of wine in the room and the ability to make one’s own morning coffee also make a difference.
Last, but not least, staying at the Hotel Vigniamont gives you the opportunity to meet France’s finest and friendliest hound, Tango.

From the moment you enter the courtyard to meeting the engaging new owner, Babette, you truely feel as if you are in another land (and of course you are). Tasty breakfast included in the rate, interesting guests gathering for wine and hors d'oeurves, and comfortable rooms - all made our stay in Penzas a joy!

A real pleasure to stay here as Rob & Tracy have created an all round experience that was a delight from start to finish.
The hotel is sympathetically restored to a very high standard of materials & furnishings and was extremely comfortable.
They are very relaxed hosts who are generous with their time and information and made you feel very at home in their property.
The Monday night meal was a triumph. You do sometimes wonder on these occasions whether the hosts really can cook. Tracy REALLY can cook. If you are there on a Monday then you MUST stay in for the meal.
Plenty of opportunity to meet other guests as the property is so open and that was an interesting aspect of the stay.
I note that one guest on TA thought they were a bit "snobbish". I really can't understand how that feeling arose.Tracy is from Yorkshire and Rob from Liverpool. We found that they were the perfect example that we are just not like that "up north"! Thought they hosted the hotel superbly and put you very at ease.
Parking was an issue with some guests - we were just lucky every day in that we found a spot - but there is parking close by anyway.
Pezanas has plenty of good restaurants and is a very interesting old town.Enjoyed seafood at the Etang de Thau and that is very beautiful on the north side especially.
Would go again without hesitation.

We stayed for a week in mid July. The whole experience was fabulous. We had 2 rooms; the Provençal room on the ground floor (for my mother and daughter) and the Burgundy Suite on the first floor (for my partner and I); both rooms overlooking the delightful inner courtyard. The rooms were beautifully furnished and decorated. No TV -yippe!. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Thankfully the ceiling fans were a godsend as the weather was very hot during our stay. The whole building is immaculately kept and feels so authentically French throughout. The delicious continental breakfast is served in the first floor lounge and was complemented by a lovely cake du jour freshly made each morning by our lovely host Babette. The lounge can also be enjoyed by guests during the day or evening time as can the beautiful roof terrace which has a handy little kitchen for guests to prepare snacks. Babette hosted 2 wine tastings on the roof terrace during our stay which was a great way to meet other gusts.
But the real treasure of this fabulous chambre d'hote was the host herself; Babette. She is a genuinely lovely person and nothing is too much for her to ensure the comfort of her guests. For example, when we enquired with her about local laundry services, she took our washing in herself and duly returned it to us the next morning washed and ironed with a smile on her face - no charge - now that's what I call service beyond the call of duty!
We all thoroughly loved our week's stay and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful chambre d'hote near the centre of the equally beautiful Pezenas. Thank you Babette, husband Phillipe and the family dog, Monsieur Tango, we can't wait to come back to stay with you all again soon.

Dear Mister,
