Detailed Reviews
We loved our stay at this typically French hotel. The room was basic but clean and perfect for our stop over - I would have been happy to stay a second night which is unusual for me! The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of cured meats, cheeses, pastries - even the welcome boiled egg. Fresh orange juice from the orange squashing machine - so delicious. Really good coffee even! The public areas are really well furnished, giving an air of authentic French opulence of the era of its age. The location a few minutes walk from the historic the centre of the town is fantastic, as is the town itself. Traditionally French, but ancient, with a perfect balance of tradition and the buzz of a well loved, busy working town. Would go back in a flash

This is our place of memories...
Sitting and watching, meeting friends who, like us, are on holiday, a place to while away the hours.
Two weeks ago we had lunch, moules and the trimmings and for me a lamb shank cooked so that it was exquisite.....
What a lovely, memorable meal and maybe the last one ever there but what memories to hold on to
Thank you to all who have served us so well all the years

We stayed in the hotel as our normal hotel Le Distilliere was full.
We checked in but neither of the two ladies on reception spoke any English at all, luckily my wife speaks passably good French so at least we got that done. The big problem was parking. We had booked two parking spaces in their garage which according to Booking.com is 150m from the hotel. It isn't!! It's about 450m & really difficult to find. When we did find it the remote control they gave me at reception failed to open the door to get in. The road was two way but only really one & a half car widths so we couldn't block the road trying to get it to work. So we cut our losses & parked in the public car park near the hotel. The reason we didn't do this in the first place is that we have been travelling for 3 weeks & keep a lot of stuff in the car & like to feel it's secure.
Our room on the 3rd floor was bright & airy with a modern bathroom. The air con worked but really didn't get the temperature down to where I like it. The bed was comfortable & the room & bathroom were spotlessly clean.

I understand that you are in the habit of occupying other places while on the move and this is respectable. We are aware that the Molière Hotel is a historic listed site in the heart of the city and we do not have parking on site, so we do not have the noise of vehicles in the morning. The parking is a distance of 300 m and 3 minutes on foot, when you arrive the hostess gave you the explanations, as well as a plan to access it, I really regret that you had difficulty to find it, but in all cases facing your difficulties, at your request, we could have on your request accompany you to the parking lot. Concerning the width of the streets we are in the pretty historical town of Pézenas and I admit that the streets of the 15th century are not always very wide. However, I am very happy that you found the rooms of good quality and you commit us to improve the points evoked. cordially.

The hotel is generally dirty and has an unkempt air. The lift is ancient and filthy, and the place looks like it was last decorated years ago. The bedroom doors are melamine faced and the paintwork throughout is tired. In our bedroom part of the skirting had fallen off and only one ceiling spotlight worked. Even the aircon/heating made a terrible noise that necessitated substituting an electric radiator. We had booked dinner in the hotel but when we went to have it the dining room was so cold that we went elsewhere.

This hotel was highly recommended on Booking.com- a website I am going to avoid in future having been badly disappointed on several occasions. This hotel is dirty and noisy. The carpets are all stained. The restaurant gets a great write up with an extensive menu. We turned up to find it was a set - all meat - menu. The doors are open onto a cobbled terrace where people smoke. So the smoke drifts inside. The disinterested receptionist hardly paused to put out her cigarette before slouching to the reception desk which is at the side of the restaurant. Totally oversold on Booking.com. I’d avoid it.

Where to start.
Only French spoken at reception. Thus very hard to check in and arrange parking etc.
Room (we had superior) was no better than a travelodge.
Bathroom from 80s.
Bedroom was a bed and tea making facilities. The "cups" were plastic and melted when you pour warm water in them.
One window nothing else basically you sleep here and nothing else.
Very sad.

nothing better than have smiling persons behind the counter when you arrive in an Hotel....it does not cost anything...and eliminates all the non "smiling hotels " in a second !!! it is an old hotel, renovated by the book to get the 3 stars rating, but on a budget ...so do not expect a palace, but rather good value for the price, the car parking 200m away " under the platanes.." is free and safe, the breakfast room was not inspiring so we had coffee elsewhere, there is a lift ,and it is run by very nice, professional people..we will be back !!!

Love the location! So close to everything, the historic centre, restaurants.
Rooms comfortable. The tiny paper cups not so good for that English cup of tea in the morning. Plastic glasses in the room make it a bit frugal.
The restaurant leaves a bit to be desired though. Eating in the Foyer a bit annoying when other guests checking in/going in and out through the doors.
The meal was very ordinary and the service not good at all. Next time I will eat nearby instead.

Do not be fooled by the outside of this hotel. We stayed one night here and it is absolutely delightful. It has been totally refurbished and everything appears new and pristine. Our room on the 3rd floor was spotlessly clean with a wonderful bathroom and all that you could want for a short stay. All other areas of the hotel were of the same high standard and there is definitely a combination of old features mixed sympathetically with new. Our continental breakfast was really nice and there was a good choice. The hotel was very good value for money and only a short walk to the restaurants, bars and cafes. Brilliant!!

Ok hotel, friendly, BUT when we arrived on Friday we were told the lift was broken and we had a room on the top floor. With no more apology than that. That wasn’t great, walking up and down hundreds of stairs every time. We were in touch with the hotel before we arrived and they didn’t mention this. If someone needed a lift for health reasons they would have been screwed. The hotel really should have told us this beforehand - and we would probably have gone somewhere else, so maybe that’s why they didn’t say….
