The place is an old castle, so don't expect an ultra modern room, and realize that modern comfort must have been retrofitted with all it's compromises. But the room we had was very clean and very cosy. Not in the mood for wine tourism? Enjoy the nice pool with unique views over the rolling hills of Chianti! For a winelover...

My girlfriend and I were originally going to stay here for a week’s self catering but in the end went with another great place further North. However we heard about the vineyard and that it was worth paying a visit to anyway. We arranged a time and arrived just after lunch. We were met by a very friendly member of...

Located amongst hills, view on vineyards, olive trees and woods. The old-old building has a special athmosphere, the history really touches you. Every single person we met was very nice and helpful to us. The breakfast in the restaurant is a large selection of a buffet. We stayed in the apartment La Mazzina - it was spacious and the style...

We consisted of 2 family groups and we each had our own apartments with cooking facilities. Our stay was for 6 days. The apartments were basic however they really suited the rustic charm and had a drop dead fabulous view across the Tuscan country side. The cooking facilities were minimal with a gas hob and fridge only. Our apartments opened...

I decided to stay this B$B after booking a table for dinner at Il Celliere, the #1 rated restaurant in Gaiole in Chianti. Later also find out that they are wine maker, too. Our receptionist was Cristina, who was warm and kind. She offered us a wine tasting while we were waiting to be checked in, and she also patiently...

We have enjoyed a fantastic week here at Rocca Di Castagnoli. Yes it is rustic and the rooms simple, that is the charm of staying at such an historic place. The location is great, views everywhere, the huge sun drenched pool a perfect place to finish off each afternoon. The best part was the stunning new restaurant that Max has...

Wow. If you are looking for the perfect Tuscan retreat this is it! Nestled in the hills overlooking vineyards and olive groves, this medieval village is a real find. The Rocco was renovated three years ago so it has the perfect balance of ancient fortress with modern and very elegant conveniences. The rooms were lovely and roomy. The breakfasts included...

“Apartment La Mazzina: bedroom has a great view on a valley, the living room overlooks the restaurant kitchen, you might hear the noises from there. Breakfast is very well worth its price.”
Zsofi, 18 Jun 2012 | Read review
“In the apartments, we noticed that one had a smelly bathroom so we moved. My husband says you need to stay in the higher rooms in the castle to avoid the smell. Apartments are different configurations so ask about what's on offer if you prefer larger living space and light versus more bedrooms and better kitchen.”
