I just spent two wonderful days at Casa de Terena and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Altino, the gracious host, served delicious breakfast and a wonderful dinner. I also had a chance to the castle and the charming village. Could easily spend more time in this homely atmosphere.

Built on a hill in the "old village", ( the young village is over 100 years old), this historic building has fantastic history. Think walls great view, and marble stairs pillaged from a roman ruin. The rooms are fantastic comfortable and on suite and the hospitality is legendary. Cobbled streets, 50 metres from the old castle walls, this is the...

What a fantastic place. Terena is one of those undiscovered parts of Portugal from which to explore some lovely villages and vineyards. The Casa is a wonderful home from home. I've been back many times and particularly love a stroll around the castle walls and the walk through the olive grove to Rui's - a great restaurant next to the...

We spent 3 nights in this beautiful Casa in the pretty little town of Terena. Jose, our host was extremely helpful in telling us all we could take in about the surrounding countryside. We did a few extended walks in the area with his help. These were through farmlands and olive groves, up to castles and to the lakeshore . Jose...

On our son's recommendation we enjoyed 3 absolutely delightful days at Casa de Terena in a very very small Aljenteo village in Portugal What an experience to be guests in a former bishop's manor home. The Casa is furnished with both Portuguese and Africa decor and although Stella, the owner, was not there we were left in very capable hands....

What wonderful hospitality in a little Portuguese backwater..... and by that I mean a beautiful, totally uncommercialised, small village in the middle of magical countryside. Our host was charming and sociable - he chatted to us over a superb dinner (that he had personally cooked - really yummy!) about South Africa, his experiences and all the present problems. We then...

The house itself is utterly lovely and the owner, Stella, has a wonderful eye for decor and has made the interior of the house rather magical and at the same time very welcoming. The room we stayed had a wonderful view of the surrounding lake and mountains far, far away. The bathroom was glorious and everything in the room was...

We stayed 3 fabulous nights at Casa de Terena and it was truly the highlight of our tour of Portugal. It is located off the beaten path in a charming little village seemingly untouched by time. The Casa itself is truly magnificent! With marble stairs originating from Roman ruins, an arched Roman stone ceiling, wood burning fireplaces, and views that...

The Casa de Terena is incredibly beautifully situated in the charming small town of Terena. We were warmly welcomed with a good Rosé wine and home-meade Tapas, many stories about the area and Portugal in general. Immediately feeling home in this very special place we enjoyed every second in Terena and this house. The big. luxurious breakfast with local products...
