Our room Octavio had a dreadful strong mouldy smell that did not dissipate despite leaving window open and air conditioner running for 2 days. I have no idea why we would have been given such a dreadful room when the hotel did not appear to be fully booked. We received a discount when booking through booking.com and can only assume... Hotel Pousada Do Convento is a beautiful boutique hotel built into an existing pousada, or convent located hilltop high over the town of Belmonte. The bedrooms are all located in a modern annex, built to replicate the convent. Rooms are large and spacious, furnished in a modern-rustic style appropriate to the location. The common rooms and dining room are beautifully... More

Nice Hotel located in old monastery, comfortable modern rooms, clean, very good breakfast. The hotel preserves the monastery atmosphere without sacrificing its modern amenities Only drawback is the lack of elevator as we had to drag our luggage over the stairs but as the monks at older times did the same without elevators we did it with a smile.

This is a very special place to stay when in this region of Portugal. Our room is very large and comfortable. There are rooms on two floors and no elevator but there are bellmen to deliver bags. The Pousada is artistically furnished and decorated. Can't wait to see the view when we wake as we arrived in the dark. The... More

We stayed for one night on our trip from Porto to Evora. The original convent has been rather dwarfed by the modern additions but the rooms are well laid out with nice views over the valley although the access is via a very dark hallway. We ate at the in-house restaurant and thought both the food and service to be... More

Seriously - if your GPS cannot find coordinates (or, like me, you can't figure that one out) just arrive in Belmonte and there are numerous and obvious signs (blue) to get you to the Pousada at the top of the hill. Dating back to the 18th Century, the main building is a combination of beautifully and tastefully restored public spaces... More

Unfortunately this was are only Pousada in Portugal but we enjoyed it a lot. This is a fantastic hotel for any city, but especially when it's located at such small city. The decoration is marvelous, rooms are big and clean and the service is exceptional. Very very much recommended.

I had a very enjoyable stay - I was in the only suite which consists of 3 rooms on split levels connected by fairly short stairs, this being the only room that utilises the original granite building. The evening meal was truly excellent and I had a bottle of their cheapest alentejo red, I think about €15, which is specially... More

This was one stop on a tour of seven Pousadas and Paradors. When we booked it, I was a little worried as it doesn’t show it’s full glory on the website. However, it ended up as possibly our favourite of the whole tour. The body of the old convent is obvious and fascinating, the addition of the extra rooms is... More
